  • "The property was really nice and clean and all as in the listing, located in a quiet part of the town with easy walk to all shops, pubs and restaurants plus the harbour and beach."

The only thing I would mention is that the shower curtain could do with a clean or replacement and due to the stairs this will not suit anybody who has difficulty in walking, but apart from this I would highly recommend this property.

  • "Was lovely cottage only issues was cleanliness of the kitchen utensils and crockery still had traces of food on tea plate and egg flipper ."

Also we had no warning there would be scaffolding around front of the house, which didn't cause a problem, but would of been nice to of been told. Apart from that it didnt spoil our holiday.

We were very sorry to hear of the scaffolding that was covering the walkway in Lower Chapel Street. We had not been made aware this was being put up to repair the roof of the cottage opposite. We have been informed that the job will be completed by next week and the scaffolding removed. We hope you loved staying at Tudor Cottage Property Owner

  • "A lovely cottage, prime location for Looe, and we had a lovely stay with clean bedding, nice kitchen and stayed there end of May to the start of June 2024."

However.. Although the building is grade 2 listed, it is some of the modern fixtures and fittings that need attention on the first and second floor (kitchen dinner fine and clean) not the historical elements that require attention. For example: The upstairs carpets are extremely slippy due to being worn especially on stair cases, which is the main staircase to the only bathroom and toilet, and also by French windows in master bedroom. The plug socket behind the master bed loose in the wall. The shower curtain rail has rust on it and the shower curtain is discoloured/ mouldy and needs either washing or replacing. and a broken window in the first floor lounge window covered up with what appears to be sellotape and cardboard ( I appreciate this may be historic glass so not easily replaced given the age of the windows). Also in places there was visible dust and cobwebs on the beams in sight and in reach of a dust cloth, the worst being the beam above the bathroom cabinet. As the house is openly for sale currently ( with a for sale sign outside) I fully expect these maintenance issues are due to the owner not wishing to put any additional outlay into the house prior to a sale, but the dust and cobwebs could of easily been remedied prior to being let out so I’d put this down to the cleaner lacking attention to detail. All in all, if the house did continue be used as a holiday if sold or removed from the market we would stay there again if the issues were remedied and they didn’t spoil our stay.

Property very quaint and value for money but not good for people who cannot climb tight stairs easily, needs a good clean (cooker, door frames windows) back garden area disgusting, windows cracked upstairs and tv channels only accessible via the Internet other than that our stay was enjoyable

Many thanks for your feedback. We would really have appreciated your feedback during your stay so that the cleaning issue with the oven could have been assessed immediately . Whilst a deep clean of the oven has been carried out, the cottage is immaculately clean in all areas as per feedback from previous guests. The only outside space owned with the cottage is a small 1metre by 3 metre decked area with a bistro set so we are not sure what your comments are concerning the outside space. The TV in the cottage is indeed an internet television and therefore operates using the internet. The Owners Property Owner

Only thing that isn't clear in the listing, is that the bathroom is actually in the main bedroom - Thank god we are close with the friends we were staying with! Also, as mentioned, the outdoor space out the back could do with a little TLC. Overall a fab cottage, well placed in the town and so comfortable.

Well equipped kitchen, lounge and super comfy beds. The only tiny thing we might suggest is freshening up the little outside space. We would have loved to use it but it wasn't easy to. Otherwise very clean, comfortable and tidy. Thank you!

  • "Enjoyed our stay at Tudor Cottage which is well situated for Looe."

Accommodation pretty much as expected, although the 'courtyard area' is not a usable space which was a bit disappointing - it is tiny (less than a metre front to back) and very dirty (think seagulls, pigeons, and local cats). Parking is cheaper and easier at the Millpond car park (about a 10 min walk) compared to the one closest to the property.

  • "Only downside to the cottage was no toilet downstairs."

Comfort and location made up for this. Steep stairs throughout cottage wouldn’t be ok for anyone who struggles with stairs. Was manageable for us. Loved the location so much - made everything worth it. Factor in another £100 for a week’s parking (also worth it!).

It’s a lovely old cottage with all essential facilities. Great location. A little tired in places and over does need a very good clean as well as lights in small bedroom need sorting. However this did not take away the character of the cottage or by anyway affect our stay

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback, we have listened to our guests' suggestions and have made some changes to the property since your stay, an Inside bolt has been fitted to the front door for added security, the tv has been changed to a 43-inch smart/ internet tv with a simple one remote to control it Guests can now use their own Amazon prime or Netflix accounts to stream their favorite tv, the whole property has had a deep clean, the Kitchen worktops have been sanded and refinished, the Bathroom has been redecorated, the Lights in the second bedroom have been upgraded and the Chimney has been swept. Once again thank you for your suggestions we would love to welcome you back to Tudor Cottage in the future. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage but really needs some TLC."

Needs a really good clean as quite dusty and kitchen worktops a bit sticky. Needs decorating and new carpets. The wardrobe is only half usable as half is locked by the owner so little space to hang clothes. Tv and DVD player is a nightmare to operate as involves swapping cables etc. This cottage has real potential with the right care and love including restoration. If you are sensitive to noise you can hear every sound from next door. We only slept here so didn’t bother us but not sure I would return

Thank you for your comments. It is disappointing that we or the owner were not made aware of your compliant during your stay as we would have loved to have the opportunity to rectify the negative comments you have made. The property is deep cleaned after each guest and if you had advised us that you were unhappy with this we could have arranged a re clean for you to make your stay more enjoyable. There is plenty of storage for guest to use during their stay, the middle door in the wardrobe is locked as it contains lined and cleaning products for the cleaners, but there are still lots of storage available for guests use. We are not aware of any issues with the TV and DVD player, again if you had let us know this could have been rectified quickly and simply, there was no need for you to change cables. The property next door is also a holiday rental and not a residential long term let which can sometimes be noisy depending who is residing there that week, its not something that other guests have advised of, apologies if there were noisy holiday makers during your stay but this is unfortunately beyond the owners control. We are available 24/7 should any issues arise and the owner is very responsive to feedback, please take our number with you on your next stay and we will do all we can to assist. Thanks again for filling the feedback form in. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful time."

The cottage was packed with character but far exceeded our expectations; it was very comfortable & very well equipped. The location is also so charming and hard to beat in terms of proximity to beach, cafes and shops. The only things I would say is that I felt an additional bolt on the inside of the front door would give extra assurance of security (which may not be needed but given how easy it would be to copy the key would be good - & we’re also from SE London so used to more security!) and the provision of a car parking space nearby. There are some which I’m sure could be negotiated and offered if needed. Other than that, it really was wonderful and we’d love to return one day!

About the location

LOOE

Polperro 5 miles.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.
