  • "No. 7 is a good studio in a fabulous location at The Salcombe apartments."

A parking place is a massive plus point, & being on the garden level with use of the private pontoon was great for us for Kayaking & also the communal storage facility for storing it. The studio is well equipped with everything that you need, the only thing that it is lacking is a little plug in hob - we took our own with us with a couple of pans after reading a previous review pointing this out. We found the bed very comfortable & the shower room perfectly functional. I did drop something onto the floor & had to pick it up as had rolled under the bed; a note for the cleaning team - it needs all needs pulling out & a good hoover under there! Also a couple of surface spots of mildew around the patio doors are starting to appear as it seems to get condensation during the cooler weather. Nothing that can't be cleaned & sorted very easily & it certainly wouldn't stop me from staying there again.

The view is incredible whatever the weather. The apartment is warm and comfortable with plenty of storage. Good shower and kitchen area. We managed well with just the microwave to heat meals. The Deli does a lovely selection of ready meals and there is a good Fish and Chip shop and Pizza takeaway if you need it. As well as all the delicious food in the pubs and cafes, we never had a bad meal. Very convenient having car parking and we really appreciated the staff at Coast and Country Cottages thank you.

The only problem we had was with the bottom sheet and and mattress protector. They were both too small and had seen better days. They did not stay on overnight so every morning we had to remake bed

  • "I loved my stay."

I’ve stayed in the building before but first stay at number 7. I appreciate not everyone wants a kitchenette or a tiny shower room but I felt this was described accurately on the listing so no complaints. I wanted easy access to the water so this place was perfect. I was able to store my paddle board in the communal store and head out from the pontoon. I loved having the sliding doors onto the garden, great view over the harbour. Easiest of walks to the pool which I used a lot. Great base to explore from! Also, not a grumble as it’s personal preference, I just wish holiday listings included info on mattress type- the bed is very soft, not great for lower back issues!

The location is sublime, open air swimming pool on site for residents only and on site parking in the centre of Salcombe. That's why we keep coming back year after year. Love it.

The only thing that would have made our stay better was if the apartment had a small hob (even just one ring) so that we could cook ourselves some food. Otherwise it was fab!

  • "The property needs a bit of tlc and possibly re configuration to help it be more practical due to lack of space."

It's impossible to have a wash in the en suite sink and not very pleasant having to use the kitchenette sink. There are areas that need a thorough deep clean and repairs such as dripping and loose tap, toilet roll holder, towel ring etc. The mattress is stained and needs changing.

Small with a tiny ensuite and no cooker, just a convection microwave with a grill inside and toaster and kettle but beautifully set up with a comfortable bed and lovely view over the waterfront. The table is now a round table with wicker chairs just inside the patio doors so very pleasant to eat at. (The picture showed a small coffee table.) Everything we needed and we have booked again for next year, shocked to find June, July and August were already booked up! I should write a bad review next time! I should mention the we had difficulty getting the key to work on the gate to the ferry, as did residents from other apartments and on the last day the fire alarm went off a few times even though we weren't cooking.

It was so clean and comfortable and excellently equiped. Every thing was provided from soft fluffy towels to washing up liquid and handwash . There was an iron , hairdryer, garden chairs, hoover and everything that was needed to self cater. The bed was really comfortable and it had a decent shower. Onsite parking and plenty of shops bars and cafes nearby made it an ideal location. An amazing view over the Estuary from the window and a lovely heated swimming pool just a few steps from the back entrance. I would totaly recommend this apartment and have already passed on details to several friends.

It is great to have car parking space too. Our main concern is regarding hygiene. Obviously a septic tank or something similar had overflowed. There was toilet paper over the grass and paving slabs just opposite our flat near the door to the ferry. Most unpleasant. • "Lovely little studio flat."

Clean, warm and cosy with wonderful views. Maximum use made of the limited space. Wonderful. The only issue I had was with the size of the bathroom. The description did not indicate just how small it was and the sink is so small as to be effectively useless so had to use the kitchen sink instead. I queried this with Sykes to be told that this (the description etc) is down to the owner and nothing to do with them. How accurate this is I can't say but I would have thought that Sykes would have to make occasional inspections to check on conditions and accuracy. All that being said it was very comfortable and the staff at Coast and Country Cottages were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

This year was more challenging than last as 'pinging' of young hospitality staff who then had to self-isolate has been a nightmare for businesses so evening bookings were impossible - so we ate out at lunchtime and at 'home' in the evening. The joy of self-catering. Less than a year to wait for our next visit - can't come too soon.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We are so pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay here at 7 The Salcombe once again and cannot wait to return. We know the owner takes pride in welcoming their repeat guests to this lovely apartment. We are only sorry that you weren’t able to enjoy evening meals out at local restaurants due to the ongoing pandemic. However, we’re pleased to learn that No 7 provided the facilities for you to enjoy your evening meal with the views the apartment has to offer. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2022! Few more paving slabs by the doors and sun beds to position them close to the apartment would be really nice and relaxing. And the only other small thing is not having any handles or some thing maybe to catch hold of to help to open and close the wardrobe doors I appreciate that it not an easy request as it is so small but with nothing it’s not easy if you have arthrites.

  • "Fantastic location providing wonderful view of the estuary, small but adequate accommodation."

Generally clean, however, shower drain blocked with hair and black slime, not been disinfected recently, its now spotless! The bed hasn't been moved for sometime as there is thick dust/fluff and abandoned sweets under it. The lack of ventilation is frustrating when trying to sleep in hot weather and the fan provided provides little respite and sounds like a DC 10! Plentiful cleaning products and handwash provided which was pleasing.

Many thanks for leaving your feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay here in Salcombe. We are sorry to read about the cleanliness of the property being unsatisfactory and have passed onto the housekeeping team to brief the cleaners on the intricacies. Please accept our apologies and we hope it did not impact on your stay too largely. We look forward to welcoming you back to stunning Salcombe again soon! Property Owner

  • "We arrived at the property to find a tiny sink in the ensuite that my partner said was smaller than his hand!"

The only cooking facilities were a combination microwave, a kettle and a toaster, no hot plate. The bottom fitted sheet didn't quite fit the bed and kept pinging off at the corners. Having said that we had an amazing week and would definitely book this property again. The table and chairs (table was higher than the coffee table shown in the property photo) was a great spot to enjoy the fabulous view of the boats on the estuary and the birds on the lawn. There was a large kitchen sink in the bedroom. Under the counter with the microwave, kettle and toaster, in the sitting area, there was an ample fridge and plenty of crockery, cutlery and glasses. (No scissors and only one wine glass but we used one of the alternatives and reported the missing glass on leaving.) The freezer compartment was full of ice and frozen bottles of water and I wondered whether this was to increase the performance of the fridge? These are all minor details compared to the wonderful location of this apartment. A gate (key supplied) takes the residents straight to the ferry landing point for crossing the estuary to East Portlemouth to enjoy the beaches and walks on the other side. The pool opened the Friday before we left, 28/5/21 and due to Covid a booking system is in operation, just one family at a time. I used it at 8am the Saturday we left and it was heated to 29 degrees centigrade. Great apartment, in the centre of town but still peaceful. Try the garden of The Victoria, no booking required here. No expense spared on their large outside area with heaters, blankets and sheep skin rugs.

There are very few properties that are small enough to be just for two and yet the position of this is perfect which is why we have visited whenever we can - literally - over the last 30 years. The apartment is definitely bijoux but to have the luxury of an on-site secure parking space is such a huge bonus. This year of course with the added uncertainty of the pandemic to be able to visit at all was a privilege and a delight. The only reason I didn't give full marks for facilities being the lack of the swimming pool but absolutely understandable and acceptable in the circumstances. The apartment has always been clean and welcoming on arrival and of course this year with added protocols was no exception. I could go on but as we have already booked again for this apartment next year there's probably nothing more to add.

View was marvellous and the building was quiet and restful, whilst in the middle of the town and all the facilities. BUT bed linen has seen better days, grey and sad looking and, when bed was stripped at the end of our stay, the mattress protector was clinging on to life by a few threads! It doesn't cost a vast amount to provide crisp and white bed linen.

Thank you for your feedback for 7 The Salcombe and we are so pleased you enjoyed your time in Salcombe. We are sorry that you felt the linen was not up to the high standards we would expect. All of our linen is freshly laundered ready for each booking however we are sorry to read that the linen provided may have seen better days, if we had known we would have been able to assist. In this case the swimming pool, which is a major attraction of this property, was not available.

We too are sorry the pool is not in use this summer, The Board did not take this decision lightly. The swimming pool at the Salcombe is deemed to be a ‘shared pool’ and not a ‘private pool’ which means there are many rules and regulations that would need to be adhered to and these just could not be regulated as they should in The Salcombe Gardens. Whilst we know the loss of these facilities is a disappointment to holiday guests, the feedback we have received so far has been one of understanding and support of the steps being taken to keep people safe during their stay in a property.
