  • "This is probably the most perfect cottage my friend and I have ever stayed in."

Hoglets is equipped with everything one could possibly need, is very tastefully decorated and is extremely warm and cosy. This was very welcome as we stayed in February when the weather was varied! Our hosts, Rebecca and Marvin, couldn't have been more friendly and assured us that they were available should we need anything. They left us a beautiful basket of goodies on arrival and introduced us to the animals they kept on their smallholding. We would have no hesitation in returning or recommending Hoglets to others. Hoglets is warm, comfortable, spotlessly clean and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Much thought has been taken with the property to making your holiday so relaxing and one to remember. Rebecca and Marvin are wonderful hosts, so helpful and friendly yet not intrusive. Just two of us but hoglets would be wonderful for a family too with friendly Shetland ponies, sheep and pigmy goats on site. Lovely welcome basket of bread, marmalade, eggs, tea, coffee, butter, milk and a jar of Rebecca's delicious home made biscuits. What more could you possibly want. By far the best holiday cottage we have ever been to, we will definitely be visiting again. Very highly recommended. Thankyou so much Rebecca and Marvin.

  • "Only two small things were a problem."

Both my husband and I have spinal issues and we didn’t find the king bed very comfortable. Secondly, as we are older people we found that as the full handrail stopped half way up the stairs, we found the stairs rather difficult But apart from those issues we had a lovely stay. Having the log burner with unlimited fuel was fantastic and the kitchen was perfect. Very friendly and helpful hosts.

Dear Gail, thank you for your feedback. Firstly, I am so sorry that you did not find the bed very comfortable, thankfully this feedback is in stark contrast to the dozens of reviews saying how comfortable the bed is! perhaps it's a case of 'there's no bed quite like home' especially if you have very specific requirements. Secondly, we have now fitted a full handrail and, given the opportunity, this simple alteration could have been made during your stay to make the stairs less difficult for your both- this was an oversight on our part and we appreciate it being brought to our attention. Best wishes, Rebecca Property Owner

The property was clean, cosy and well equipped. Its location was perfect for exploring the coast and Exmoor itself. The hosts were perfect, helpful when needed but unobtrusive at other times. The welcome pack of jams, biscuits and other essential items was the best we have ever encountered in our many years of staying in holiday properties. The wood burning stove with a plentiful supply of wood was an added bonus at this time of the year. We would not hesitate to visit this property again in the future.

Cosy, yet spacious, a very high level of cleanliness, and furnishings and equipment of good quality. Well- equipped, and even with some beautiful seasonal decorations! To make everything even more perfect, the owners are very nice. They are friendly, positive, and knowledgeable. Animal/Nature lovers, it was lovely to chat before going out to explore the area. • "Hoglets is a lovely cottage!"

We know Exmoor and the area already quite well, and stayed in always very good holiday cottages. Hoglets has been the best we've stayed at so far, and we definitely will come back. Rebecca and Marvin were always there or somehow available in case of any questions. After a week it felt like being neighbours and open for chats and conversation. Still we had our privacy, the backyard with grill and sun but windshielded helped us parents a lot to relax. Our girls (6 & 9) loved the animals and greens and were allowed to walk around freely and could even feed and groom the goats and horses. It was great the girls could have separate rooms, and also the cloak/laundry room with access to separate shower room was quite useful. The cittage was spacious but not too big, so we felt home immediately. Although we went in summer, it was a bit cold in the eveings and mornings in the first week, and it was great the heating worked and we could use the woodburner in the living room (similar to our home). In Exford, a walk of about 10min along the road, are two welcoming pubs, a Café and shops, as well as community greens with playground, and of course great walks to explore the area. Thanks a lot for making us welcome and giving us a much needed wonderful holiday stay.

The cottage was extremely clean and really well equipped, thank you for the welcome pack, it was great to have a cup of tea when we arrived. Rebecca and Marvin were very friendly and helpful. They have worked really hard in the short time they have been there to create a lovely peaceful place to stay. Their Shetland ponies, goats and sheep are so calm and, with Marvin's permission, we were allowed to go in the paddock with them. It would be lovely to have some pictures of the animals so that families know they have them. Thank you for a lovely week.

Exford is a really good base for visiting all the local attractions - we went to Exmoor Zoo, Dunster Castle, Cleeve Abbey, Lynton & Lynmouth and Porlock Weir (which has a lovely café). The swallows, swifts and house martins nesting under the eaves were the icing on the cake! The location is good for walking from the door and short trips by car to the lovely coast, local villages, towns and beauty spots. We particularly enjoyed walking from the door to Dunkery Beacon. The owners live next door and are very friendly and helpful. They are knowledgeable about the area and gave us some great tips for places to visit, good walks and nice cafés.
