Although on a main road, it's location we rarely heard any traffic. The accommodation was comfortable and we had everything we needed. We were met on our first day by the owner who gave us an explanation regarding the property and local advice for the area. We enjoyed our holiday in spite of some mixed weather. Beautiful garden to enjoy in the sun. Reviewed by JanAug 2021 "We had a fantastic time at Peonies with great weather, which always helps." We had read reports about not being able to get at the cutlery draw due to the draw hitting the oven, but it is so easily overcome by just opening the oven door, no hardship in that respect. The owners greeted us upon arrival and made us feel very welcome and had a chat on the day of departure. There was a lovely outside area for sitting in the garden to catch the last moments of the sun before it set. The bed was the most comfortable one we had ever had and allowed a good nights sleep. The complimentary bottle of wine was much appreciated. We would hope that we would be able to go there again in the near future. We have discussed the points raised with the owner who confirms the shower seal has now been fixed, in relation to the cutlery drawer the owner explained prior to your arrival that the cutlery drawer had to be opened in a certain way and was saddened to read your comments suggesting immediate attention was needed to rectify this. Due to the compact design of the kitchen the cutlery drawer needs to be opened in a particular way. The owners were friendly and helpful and though not very large the kitchen was well-equipped. Easy parking and although attached to the owner's house felt very private. Reviewed by MikeOct 2020 "It was a lovely house, the owners were so, extremely friendly and welcoming (there was a bunch of flowers and bottle of wine left by the last guests left on the driveway, which indicates that they also had a lovely stay too)." The house is in a great location, just a short 3-4 min drive to the main town with shops and lovely restaurants around and to walk it would have taken around 30mins. Gorgeous garden too which is very clearly well taken care of. I would definitely recommend it for any age visitor. Reviewed by DanielAug 2020 "Peonies is a lovely place to stay." A very good sized front facing double bedroom with a luxurious comfortable bed. Bathroom with walk in shower plus a galley style kitchen. Outside a lovely garden , enclosed and very peaceful and quiet. The owners Hedley and Meghan are on hand if you require them , helpful but not intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Peonies and would highly recommend this cottage for a quiet relaxing holiday. Reviewed by AnthonyJun 2019 "Hosts very accommodating ." Reviewed by RonaldJul 2018 "I think that what most impressed me was the thoughtful way they had equipped the cottage." There were shelves where you needed them, lamps placed just right, lots of hooks, a chair in the porch for changing your shoes - all those little things that actually make your holiday more enjoyable. Hedley and Megan were friendly and helpful but unobtrusive so we were able to relax in our adjacent garden area and just feel comfortable. We were unsure about the location but the walk into town only took 25-30 minutes, or a ten minute walk to a bus stop, with buses every 15 minutes during the day. And the walk along the Exe estuary was excellent - don't miss it! Reviewed by SavaMay 2018 Show more This property is part of the Helpful Holidays collection.
