  • "Lovely Lodge in wonderful location."

Very comfortable and peaceful with everything we needed to a weeks stay. Facilities onsite at Ashbury resort are excellent with even more to enjoy at the Manor resort a mile or two away. Golf excellent - even though the courses were a bit wet - still very challenging and enjoyable. Great stay - we will be back!

Many thanks for your great review of both our property and the resort it's based on. We're delighted you had another fantastic week's holiday, whilst staying at our lodge. Also, that the golf lived up to expectations, despite the recent bad weather. We look forward to welcoming you back for your third visit to Ridge's Retreat! Property Owner

  • "Such a fantastic place to holiday, we couldn’t have asked for more!"

Immaculately clean, nicely furnished and so spacious. So much parking too. We used the facilities at the Manor and Ashbury and then loved coming back to our lodge in the evening to relax in front of the colourful fire. Loads of board games provided :)

Thank you very much for your lovely comments about Ridge's Retreat. We're so pleased that you had an excellent family holiday, benefitting from the huge choice of facilities on both sites at the resort. We'd love to welcome you again anytime! Property Owner

  • "Another fantastic time at this resort made all the more enjoyable by staying in this amazing lodge."

We all purchased a weekly activity pass enabling us to use the incredible facilities at both hotels. We chose to eat breakfast and lunch in the lodge and pay for an evening meal up at the hotel so that we could easily continue using the facilities before retiring back to the lodge. The lodge is modern, well maintained, warm & comfortable and we thank you for allowing us to share your beautiful home. As a family this holiday allowed us to spend so much quality time together and above all we had so much fun, we hope to be back next year !

Thank you so much for your wonderful review of our property Ridge's Retreat, it is most appreciated. Delighted to hear you took advantage of the activity passes, giving you such a choice between The Manor and Ashbury Resorts. Also, that you benefitted from the discounted meals at the onsite restaurant. Extremely pleased to know you all had a superb family holiday together. We look forward to welcoming you again, for your third stay with us next time! Property Owner

Visitors want for nothing in this lovely lodge with great views. We were lucky to see a couple of wonderful sun rises over the adjacent hills. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay in this well appointed lodge and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.

  • "We enjoyed our stay and found the lodge to be in good condition, very clean and with all the basic needs supplied to enable a good holiday."

The lodge has a lovely view across the golf course to the magnificent Dartmoor in the distance. It is situated in a quiet location but on hand, apart from the golf courses, are many other experiences supplied by the Ashbury hotel so the best of both worlds. A brief mix up with keys issued by Ashbury at the beginning was quickly rectified by Sykes Cottages and the owner with apologies. We haven’t any complaints and would consider rebooking and would recommend to others.

Many thanks for kindly making the time to review our property so favourably. We're glad you went on to have a good week and the keys were sorted out really promptly. Also, that you enjoyed the position and peace of our lodge, whilst being close to all the resort amenities. We're delighted you took advantage of the huge choice of activities on offer at The Manor and Ashbury Hotels. Between the spa, sport, craft and golf facilities, there's something for everyone of any age, whatever the weather! Property Owner

Wouldn’t not mind paying extra to use the electric charger

  • "Lovely clean, spacious, warm, well equipped lodge in the perfect location for us."

Great selection of hooks everywhere! Our boys loved exploring the selection of board games and we loved the peaceful surroundings and fab view. Would agree with a previous review that perhaps the single mattresses could benefit from a comfy topper but wasn’t a big issue for us. Icing on the cake would be to have use of a washing machine but equally doing no washing makes it feel more of a holiday!!! Thank you - we will definitely be back.

Many thanks for giving our lodge such a good review. We're very pleased that you thoroughly enjoyed staying there for your family break over half term. We look forward to welcoming you back again sometime. Property Owner

  • "We have stayed at the Ashbury many times, over the years, first time in this beautiful lodge, we had an amazing week, 5* accommodation, spacious and clean."

Ashbury staff were exceptionally helpful, showed us the way to the lodge on a buggy, they are resurfacing the road to the lodge at the moment, so currently you have to follow the blue signs going across the golf course to get there, but I don’t think it will be long before the proper road is open. 2 of us bought a weekly pass, the other 2, who came later in the week, daily ones, and we chose to pay for evening meals only, at £15 for a buffet, it was well worth it. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your home, we would very much like to come back !

Thank you so very much for your superb feedback on both our lodge and the resort. We're delighted that you had such a fantastic break there and used some of the excellent facilities on site. We'd really love to welcome you back for another holiday in the future. Many thanks for your repeat booking to stay at Ridge's Retreat in the autumn. We've just received this lovely news from Sykes. We hope you have a wonderful week's holiday again this year at the Ashbury Resort. Property Owner

  • "As the lodge were new all the fixtures and fittings were perfect."

The views are stunning and it was a very peaceful setting as we were the only ones there. We felt that there should have been more china as was only 6 of everything. Although only sleeps 6 more is needed. Easier instructions for the TV and heating would have been appreciated. The main issue we had was finding the lodge once we had collected the keys. Instructions given to us at reception were not clear so we ended up driving around the golf course on the Buggy track! Not ideal at all. Eventually we were shown where to go by following someone on a golf buggy. The road down to the lodge has not been finished and there were no signs, so it was impossible to find without being shown as needed to go through a yard full of building materials. I am sure once all the building of the lodges and road down has been finished signage will be sorted out, but at the moment anyone booking the lodge needs to be aware it is impossible to find without someone showing you the way. Overall we had a lovely break in a very well presented lodge. Very suitable for my 88 year old mother as all on one level with great non slip decking.

Thank you for leaving this positive feedback about our lodge. We will be taking more crockery and cutlery to our property later this month. Whilst staying there we'll reread the manuals for both the TV and heating. We'll then try to simplify these manufacturer's instructions, to leave in our guest folder. We have contacted the resort regarding your comments. Clearer directions and better signage appear to be an issue at present. They are looking into this and attempting to rectify the matter. We're pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable stay at 7, Kigbeare Lodges. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at 7 Kigsbeare lodge, we didn’t use the sports facility or golf as we were visiting family but the lodge is set in a beautifully quiet location with spectacular views."

The reception staff were not overly helpful nor did we get shown where the lodge was until we bumped into a guy who worked there in a golf buggy. We were told to park in the car park above but worked it out ourselves that we could actually drive down the tiny lane yo he lodge and park outside!! The lodge itself is highly recommended - very comfortable indeed apart from the bed mattresses which were very cheap and sub standard - a real shame considering everything else was so perfect. A good week and will definitely come back but hoping the mattresses will be improved upon by then

Many thanks for taking the time and trouble to review our property. Also, for your kind words regarding our lodge and its surroundings. We are sorry to hear that our mattresses did not live up to expectation. They are brand new, as we only bought the lodge in March and started letting it out in July. The lodge came fully furnished, so we were not aware of the suppliers. Thank you for drawing our attention to this issue, we will now look into it. We can only apologise for the attitude of the reception staff and parking misinformation you received from other staff on site. We will make the resort management aware of this situation. We look forward to welcoming you back to 7, Kigbeare Lodges. Property Owner

  • "A fantastic lodge very comfortable and clean lots of room for 6 people ."

Lots of things to do for my grandsons especially loved the sports pitches .would love to go again .

Thank you so much for leaving us such a wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that you had an excellent family holiday, overlooking the foothills of Dartmoor. We love our holidays at the Manor and Ashbury Resort too, which is why we bought our lodge there last year. Always a fabulous selection of activities to do on both sites, for everyone of all ages. Our teenage sons really enjoy the events at the ranges and playing unusual sports, eg ice-curling. My husband disappears for hours in a golf buggy to indulge in his favourite pass time, then relaxes at the spa pool and sauna. I spend most of my time at the craft centres, chatting to like minded guests and trying out new skills. As they regularly introduce another craft or sport, we are constantly giving something else a go! We only eat breakfast in our lodge, because it's my holiday as well! We walk up to the restaurant for lunch and an evening meal, as it's good value, with plenty of choice and our teenage boys can eat all they want! Hopefully you were also able to take full advantage of these facilities, including discounted prices for both dining and the activity passes during your stay. Fingers crossed for a return visit in the near future! Many thanks for rebooking our lodge again for next summer. We are delighted to have just received this news from Sykes. We look forward to welcoming you back to Ridge's Retreat in a month's time. Wishing you a wonderful week's holiday again this year! Thank you very much for your repeat booking of our lodge for 2024!
