Set within the rural village of Frithelstock on the land of the owner's property, the two enchanting barn conversions of The Stables (sleeps 4) and The Coach House (sleeps 2) offer a brilliant base for exploring the countryside delights of North Devon. The immediate village of Frithelstock is a tranquil area, providing you with ample walking opportunities and views to uncover - The Tarka Trail is less than one mile down the hill. 30 miles of its 180 miles is traffic free using the old railways of North Devon, perfect for cyclists and walkers. Within close reach you will find the bustling history-enriched town of Torrington, here you will be greeted by an array of shops and eateries, as well as a swimming pool, the Great Torrington Heritage Museum and RHS Garden Rosemoor, providing excitement in a variety of ways. Choose to spend a day at the coast of Westward Ho! with its glorious sandy beaches and amusements for all or one of the other diverse and stunning beaches of North Devon such as Saunton Sands, Instow, Woolacombe or Croyde to name a few. Or you can head to Hartland and take a stroll along the Heritage Coast where you will be encompassed by unrivalled views and spectacular nature. The Stables and The Coach House provide a delightful base from which to explore this area of Devon.

Great Torrington is an unspoilt town built on high ground above the River Torridge, and is a fifteen minute drive from the spectacular North Devon coast at Westward Ho! With historic links to the Civil War, the “Torrington 1646” attraction at Castle Hill in the town gives an interesting insight to the Roundheads and Cavaliers. Another leading tourist attraction is Dartington Crystal where visitors can see craftsmen blowing and shaping glass, follow the history of glassmaking and buy some beautiful pieces. The town has a good selection of individual shops, a friendly atmosphere, and some good inns. About a mile from Great Torrington is the spectacular RHS Rosemoor Gardens with arboretum and herbaceous borders in a breathtaking setting by the River Torridge. There are many villages to visit on the North Devon coast including picturesque Clovelly built on a steep hillside above the sea, beautiful Appledore with it’s colourful fishermen’s cottages, famous Lynton and Lynmouth with the cliff-top railway, and Hartland Point with its breathtaking sea and coastal views. The diverse beaches of North Devon are not far away including; Westward Ho!, Instow, Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Croyde, to name a few. Lundy Island, lying just 10 miles off the coast of North Devon is home to a fascinating array of birds and seals, and can be reached on Lundy's own boat from Bideford Quay. Great Torrington is a quiet, convenient base from which to explore North Devon, the Tarka Trail and the rolling Devon landscape.
