  • "Lovely cottage in a very peaceful and tranquil location"

  • "We had a great time."

Very clean and cosy cottage. Be aware of the very narrow roads to get there and the wifi did not work. Apart from that excellent choice.

  • "A great cottage with wonderful grounds and very caring and friendly owners."

Set in a lovely area, just what we needed at this time.

  • "Following the Covid-19 pandemic and having been isolating for 20 weeks due to health conditions; we were looking for a rural retreat in the country."

Gratefully we stumbled upon this set of cottage accommodation, situated at the edge of Lyme Regis in a beautiful, idyllic rural setting of Devon. The owners; Kirsten and Sean, welcomed us warmly, and ensured we felt comfortable with regards the Covid-19 mitigations they had implemented. The cottage itself was extremely clean, although we took our own bedding we would have felt more than happy to use the ones provided due to the high cleanliness of them and the property. The grounds were beautifully well kept and perfect for our dog - the owners are wonderful with all manners of four legged pets; even providing treats and dog bags on our arrival at the property. Outside the property were plentiful chairs and tables to use and the surrounding area (all farmland) provided a quiet environment to have dinner outside uninterrupted. The owners were very knowledgeable about the area and provided us with ample options on where to visit in the local region and ensured our stay was as smooth as possible. Everything exceeded expectation.

  • "Exceedingly narrow farm lanes to property beyond expectations!"

Too far from any shops or pubs . The property was not cleaned properly, bread crumbs on work surfaces ,and breadboard dirty cups in cupboard, cobwebs and dead spiders hanging in corners, and stone feature walls , behind tv and radiators . The welcome pack was not up to Sykes standards , as we would have expected a small bottle of milk in fridge at least ! As we were so far away from any shops . We would not return there !!

The lovely market town of Axminster has been made famous by the well-known organic shop and canteen in the area, which were introduced by TV presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Nestled in outstanding peaceful countryside, Axminster is certainly a place to relax and unwind. Famous for its carpets, which are often likened to Turkish examples, it is one of Devon’s prettiest smaller towns. Situated on the River Axe and within easy reach of both the West Dorset and East Devon Jurassic Coast, Axminster has many attractions, including plenty of privately owned shops, a weekly market and excellent old inns, with one dating back 100 years with its own resident ghost! With beautiful views on offer and the National Trust properties of Shute Barton and Loughwood Meeting House close by, Axminster is a must to visit.
