    “We had a great time.”

Very clean and cosy cottage. Be aware of the very narrow roads to get there and the wifi did not work. Apart from that excellent choice.

The property

Enjoying a rural position within the Blackdown Hills AONB, located just a few miles away from the market town of Axminster, is this heart-warming retreat, Beaufort Cottage.

This all ground-floor accommodation is tucked away within eight acres of land but within close reach to the famous Devonshire coastline and of all the countryside delights this corner of the country has to offer.

The interior enjoys a romantic charm with the traditional features of the exposed brick and beam complementing the carefully selected furnishings.

Look forward to spending your wind-down time within the open-plan living room, where you and your partner will find everything you could possibly need for a week-long break within the countryside setting.

The kitchen is well-equipped for catering for your own home-cooked meals before settling down at the dining table to plan the days ahead with a glass of wine in hand.

After dinner, make the most of the spacious sitting area, where two plush armchairs rest between the TV, whilst the electric fire gently fills the room with warmth before you head to bed.

The charm of the property is continued within the well-presented bedroom, boasting a refreshing colour palette, charming furnishings and views of the grounds to enjoy, ensuring a tranquil space to wake up to each morning.

To the outside of the property there is a private garden, where you can enjoy a spot of alfresco dining during the warmer months, whilst your canine companions roams the spacious lawn area.

If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic base, venture into the market town of Axminster, where you will be spoilt for choice by the amenities that await you, offering something to suit a couple of all ages and tastes.

For those feeling active, you will find the East Devon Way footpath with close reach, as well as the Buzzard Route cycle track within the town for those bringing their bike along.

Alternatively, brush up on the local history by spending time at the National Trust property of Loughwood Meeting House or the National Trust property of Shute Barton, which houses the largest open fireplace in England.

Beaufort Cottage is a wonderful base for a refreshing break with your partner.

About the location

The lovely market town of Axminster has been made famous by the well-known organic shop and canteen in the area, which were introduced by TV presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Nestled in outstanding peaceful countryside, Axminster is certainly a place to relax and unwind. Famous for its carpets, which are often likened to Turkish examples, it is one of Devon’s prettiest smaller towns. Situated on the River Axe and within easy reach of both the West Dorset and East Devon Jurassic Coast, Axminster has many attractions, including plenty of privately owned shops, a weekly market and excellent old inns, with one dating back 100 years with its own resident ghost! With beautiful views on offer and the National Trust properties of Shute Barton and Loughwood Meeting House close by, Axminster is a must to visit.
