  • "Very poorly maintained."

Metal runner sticking up .which was dangerous special as we had young children. Beam in the floor was broken. Leaving a dip In the floor .not very clean cups and cutlery dirty. Needs a lot of work doing to the property. The electricity should be in the price . Not a add addition .

Hi Patrick, We are so sorry that your stay was not the best it could be. In response to the cleanliness aspect, unfortunately at that time we were using a new cleaning company and they did not clean to our standards, we have since hired a new company that reflects what our customers deserve . We have also spent the whole winter renovating all the houses with all new wooden floors upstairs, we hope you come back this summer to see the huge upgrade the cottages have gone through. • "The location of the property is superb in rolling Devon countryside with onsite lake and pool stuffed with large and small fish for fishing."

The property is adequately equipped with everything needed for self catering (except oven gloves which would have been helpful). Rooms are large enough for 7 people to stay comfortably. Some maintenance is required, lights not working, toilet door latch sticks, drawer knob missing, mattresses need upgrading. Paths to the pool are at risk of becoming overgrown. Just small things that would have made a difference to the overall quality of the place. The recycling system was a bit confusing and there were no instructions about using oven and dishwasher etc. Over all it was a very pleasant stay and good value

Hello Sue, Thank you for your feedback and the lovely things you said about the space. In terms of the general maintenance we do apologise, we have since fixed all these problems as well as replacing all the upstairs f floors to wood, replacing roofs and generally hearing what all our customers have said and fixing the problems. Typically we only mow pathways into all the lawns so as to help the land be as bio-diverse as possible, since doing this we have seen a HUGE increase in wildlife ( especially birds), however we will be sure to pass this not our gardening team to make sure to keep the mowed paths in top shape! We will be sure to add instructions to recycling etc however so thank you for pointing that out! Property Owner

  • "The location can’t be faulted as it had awesome views."

Basics such as bed linen and towels are included but nothing else. Make sure you take with you what you will need for first 24 hrs, milk tea ,coffee etc. Personal we felt the property could do with some finishing touches. I stayed here with my mum and it was a great location for family visitors. As my mums mobility is limited we spent a lot of time in the cottage. We like to have gatherings so I cooked every day. Because of this I feel we noticed things others would not have. Neither of us were there for fishing. We found that Bramble cottage smelt damp especially in the large bedroom, we used at least £15-20 electric which is not included. The heating was temperamental and hard to manage. It could be sweltering upstairs and freezing downstairs. A curtain over the outside door might help with drafts etc. The extractor fan of the cooker is not actually fully fixed to the wall and the latch on one of the downstairs bathrooms sticks meaning your at risk of getting stuck. It’s quite dark if you return at night so an outside light would be helpful. Unfortunately the internet went down for the week we were staying. We made do, but if it’s a family with children going I would advise you take games, dvd’s etc as nothing is at the property. The property is very close to Okehampton where you can find supermarkets. It’s not the easiest to find unless you use Google maps. Beware sat navigation is tricky in this area and not always accurate. Despite this we had a good week especially considering it wasn’t the warmest weather. Very close to Dartmoor, and a fantastic pub The Castle Inn which I highly recommend, they are so friendly and welcoming.

Hi Valerie, Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad to say that we have since partnered with Cornish teas to make people stay a little more welcoming. We have also replaced the whole floor upstairs with new wooden floors and replaced the roof. This has fixed the slight musty smell as we discovered there was an unknown leak! In regards to the general maintenance we have since gone around fixing all we can and lowering our prices to accommodate the electric price, we have also partnered with Zooc internet in Exeter which guarantees wifi working at all times! We hope you come again to see first hand what we think is a huge difference. Property Owner
