  • "This is the third time we have stayed in this lovely cottage, all was perfect."

It's a great location with easy access to all the delights of Topsham and the surrounding area. Great public transport links, the car spent most of the week in the Holman Way car park and we walked most places.

  • "It's a lovely property in a great location, there are lots of positives here."

But it was the after sales care we were most appreciative of. In a big rush to leave we managed to leave a laptop behind which the owner was incredibly helpful with, going out of his way to help resolve quite a stressful situation.

Thank you for your kind comments. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. There is a hairdryer in the property, at last look it was in the single bedroom on top of the bookcase, but now I'll put it somewhere more obvious when I'm next at the house. Best wishes. Dan. Property Owner

Parking is very difficult especially if you’re not so mobile House generally very nice and well equipped ,but sitting room furniture quite uncomfortable Outside table is a bit big for such a tiny yard Overall very enjoyable break

Thank you for your kind feedback about the house and I'm glad you had an enjoyable time. I've added some cushions to the sofa just in case others find it a problem. I'm afraid I can't help with the parking as Topsham was laid out long before cars were invented, which I guess is part of the charm, but as I outline in my welcome email, there is a large reasonably priced central car park not far away, or alternatively, if you prefer, it is an easy place to get the train to and dispense with the car altogether. We live in Topsham too and, though frustrating, everyone understands if you need to pull up outside the house to unload, take time helping people inside etc. Best wishes. Dan. Property Owner

  • "This holiday cottage in Topsham must be one of the best cottages we have stayed in."

Topsham is great, not only for the number of places to eat and drink but also as a base to explore Devon. The cottage itself was fantastic, clean and very well presented. The bottle of champagne was an extra bonus. I cannot recommend this property enough.

Thank you for your kind words. I’m glad you had a great time and enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "A very relaxing and enjoyable stay (my second) in this cottage."

The only thing with which we had a problem was control of the central heating. More detailed information would probably have enabled us to solve the problem ourselves rather than needing to contact the agent and the owner needing to visit.

Thank you for your kind 100% feedback and indeed for returning to stay a second time. I'm sorry you encountered the brief setback with the heating - it was no problem to pop round that evening and good to meet you. Thankfully all that had happened was that the thermostat had been turned down so the heating didn't kick in. I've now set it so that it can't be altered, so hopefully that will very much be a one off. Best wishes. Dan. Property Owner

  • "Second time staying, great cottage in very good location."

Grill pan in oven was dirty on arrival (covered in solidified melted cheese) which was a bit off putting. We'd suggest having spare blankets available for the beds as duvets felt like summer only and it got chilly during the night.

Thank you for the feedback. I'm very sorry about the grill pan and will pass that on to the changeover team as they are normally very thorough but clearly need to add it to their list of things to check. Good idea re the blankets for very cold nights - I'll certainly address that. Many thanks. Dan. Property Owner

  • "This is our second stay at 5 Exe Street, we enjoyed it so much last year, my kids and I were desperate to come back !"

The house felt like home the second we came through the door, it’s such a relaxing place to stay - we all slept like logs, the bed in the main bedroom is the comfiest I’ve ever slept on, the green bedroom is so peaceful and the top floor room with its view of the boats is magical. The appliances are all easy to operate and it was great to have Netflix. The proximity to the Co-op is an absolute godsend! Couldn’t think of any suggestions other than 1) My daughter did mention that a mirror on the top floor would be handy, even if mounting it on the wall is difficult, a hand mirror or fold -out one would do. 2) Oh and we couldn’t find any bin liners for the pedal bin in the kitchen ! (but we may have been being stupid and just didn’t find them !) Thank you again for a wonderful week. We loved the house and we love Topsham.

The only complaint was the vacuum cleaner which after using omitted a very strong smell of dogs so much that we had to open all the windows to get rid of the smell. Also the instructions couldn't be found for the washer/drier. Other than that everything was perfect and would book again. thanks.

Thank you so much for the 100% feedback and positive comments. Thanks for flagging up the hoover, I’ve just changed the bag and it seems fine, and I’ll make sure to look out the washing machine instructions. We hope to see you again. Best wishes. Property Owner

  • "An excellent week's stay in this lovely, convenient cottage."

It was comfortably warm--very important for a winter stay. Everything we needed was very local, so much so that we parked the car in the Holman Way car park on arrival, paid by the day remotely via RingGo (£3.70 per day) and went everywhere on foot or by bus or train. We were very lucky with the weather, which was ideal for bird-watching within a short walk of the cottage. We shall be recommending to our friends, particularly those who do not drive/have a car and we hope to return sometime.

The house suited us perfectly as my daughters had a bedroom each, and the bedroom at the very top of the house was a great den for them to get away from us oldies, and watch the sunset and stargaze !!! The location was perfect, so handy for the local Coop and all the shops, pubs and cafes, and for travelling further afield to Exeter (we went there on the train), Killerton House, Teignmouth, Seaton and others. This cottage is lovely, very clean with modern appliances and very comfortable, plenty of room for a family of 4. The courtyard garden, although small, was fantastic to sit out in with my book and also for meals in the evening. The house is a short walk to the quayside one way and shops the other way. A great location for enjoying a walk to watch the sunset in the evening and also along the Goat Walk, it’s very peaceful. It is also in a great position to be able to explore other areas nearby, we did trips out to Sidmouth and enjoyed a walk along The Byes from Sidford to Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Beer and Charmouth. Killerton House is also nearby and well worth a visit. There are plenty of places to eat out in Topsham too but at this time booking is essential due to new safety measures in place. About the location

TOPSHAM

Exeter 4.5 miles; Exmouth 6.5 miles; Newton Abbot 17.2 miles.

The charming town of Topsham is set on the River Exe estuary and has been declared a conservation area due to the wealth of 17th and 18th century merchants' houses, many built in the Dutch style with carved gable ends. Within the town you will be delighted to find a selection of historic pubs and award-winning restaurants including The Galley Fish and Seafood Restaurant, which boasts panoramic views of the Exe Estuary. Foodie lovers will also enjoy the town’s food festival which happens every summer. The town also plays host to a magnitude of independent shops, galleries and the Topsham Museum is an interesting visit. From here, you can catch a train into the city of Exeter where you can explore the city walls which surround the centre and the Gothic Cathedral, or head in the opposite direction and soak up the sun at the seaside resort of Exmouth. Topsham promises a wonderful escape to Devon, where you can have the best of both worlds within a short drive.
