  • "We had an amazing time at the Coach House."

We were just wowed by the spectacular view. The house itself is lovely and comfortable so we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. No issues at all with parking. We had an issue with the door lock but the guy came and fixed this with no problems. The only negative was the bird poo from the nesting birds. A tumble dryer would have made this cottage perfect, even though we had a beautiful sunny week we found that the washing did not dry inside the house (could not put outside due to the birds). Don't let the birds put you off, it was only a minor issue and the birds have to nest somewhere!!

  • "1 The Coach House at Hallsands enjoys one of the best coastal views I have ever experienced."

Old friends and I enjoyed a special birthday here and no one was disappointed. One has to be fit as there are 42 steps from the beach to the cottage! Hence the superb view! The property was beautifully presented and comfortable and the bottle of wine chilled in the fridge was so welcome after a long journey! The walks to The Cricket at Beesands was much enjoyed as was the one to the lighthouse at Start Point. Would love to return in spite of the narrow Devonian lanes!

Seaside decor. Everything you need in the kitchen and bathrooms plus books, games DVDs etc. Lots of extras on arrival, milk biscuits wine and flowers. Excellent throughout.

Could do with a mirror on the wall and also a chest of drawers in the downstairs bedroom.

Every mod con, and wonderful views. You need to be fit enough to climb the 45 steps up to the house, but the exercise is good and it's well worth the climb.

About the location

HALLSANDS

Start Point 1.5 miles; Beesands 3 miles; East Portlemouth 5.5 miles; Kingsbridge 8 miles.

Hallsands is a small village near Start Point, one of the most southerly points on Devon’s coastline, near Salcombe in the beautiful South Hams area. The sheltered South Hams Peninsula is in 'deepest Devon', a pastoral landscape of flowering hedgerows and ancient sunken lanes, carved into by the richly wooded Avon and Dart Valleys. This quiet fishing village, with its dog-friendly, unspoilt beach, is situated next to the historic ‘old village’ of South Hallsands, just three miles from the popular Beesands Beach which has its own gastro pub and shop. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is decorated with white, pink and ochre thatched cottages, picturesque fishing ports such as Dartmouth, and is renowned for its stunning coastline, popular with yachting enthusiasts. Much of the clifftop land has been acquired by the National Trust, a haven for bird watchers and walkers who take advantage of the South West Coast Path, peppered with perfect picnic spots. Nearby, uncover the beauty of Blackpool Sands and Torcross, a historic site where the Normandy landings were practiced; explore the nature reserve at Slapton Ley, and stroll along Slapton Beach, feeling the soft sand between your toes. Park at East Portlemouth and catch the ferry across to the beautiful seaside town of Salcombe with its renowned estuary, or visit the Start Point Lighthouse, less than a mile away. Hallsands is a wonderful base for uncovering the unspoilt beauty of Devon and the South Hams, all year round.
