  • "We had a lovely stay."

Lesley and Simon were lovely and went out of their way to make sure we were well looked after. The cottage is close to the road but the traffic didn't once disturb us. It's well located, very close to the airfield (which allowed our 11 year old daughter to fly a small plane, a real highlight!!). It was wonderful, as others have said, to have breakfast out in the garden watching rabbits and birds of prey. A couple of small niggles - the shower sometimes doesn't kick in immediately (you just need to lower the shower head), the downstairs loo needed the old 'double flush' and it would have been great to have a few more mugs. Also, we were holidaying with elderly relatives and the nature of the cottage means it has the odd step (from conservatory into dining room dining room into kitchen or downstairs loo) which just meant we had to be a little careful (we were prepared by the cottage description), but overall we had a wonderful time and would definitely consider coming back. Thank you so much!

  • "We had a lovely stay at this property last week."

The hosts, Lesley and Simon made us very welcome and showed us around on arrival. If we needed anything they were very willing to help. The cottage has a lovely bright lounge and conservatory looking over the pretty garden and fields with plenty of birds and wildlife. The modern kitchen has all the appliances and equipment you could wish for. The bedrooms are very well presented and clean and the two bathrooms were both well appointed. We visited Taunton, Seaton, Sidmouth and Torbay during our stay and even Torquay can be reached within an hour. The nearby Dunkerswell airfield is also of interest and on a few days we saw people skydiving above the cottage. There are also a number of good pubs and restaurants within a short distance. We would be very happy to return in the future.

  • "The cottage is extremely comfortable and well equipped."

The hosts gave us a genuinely warm welcome and were very helpful throughout. We especially enjoyed the garden and particularly enjoyed having breakfast outside and watching the birds and wildlife going about their business. We would say that this is the best holiday rental we’ve ever had, and can’t wait to return.

10.2020 to 01.11.2020 Castle Farm Cottage was so much better than expected! It is very comfortable, well appointed and very clean. The garden was delightful with autumn colours. Lesley and Simon Brookes ( owners) made us welcome and we’re always happy to help when needed. This is a first time with Sykes Cottages - I hope we will be able to use your organisation again, God willing

  • "We had an enjoyable stay in a peaceful location situated within a mile of the local shops."

Within reasonable driving distance of both Exmoor and Dartmoor. As there was only the two of us we had plenty of room and the large conservatory was a great advantage during the inclement weather of our stay. We had all the amenities we required with a good wifi signal. Bed was comfortable, good quality towels and the downstairs underfloor heating was a bonus.

  • "We booked a short break at the last minute and Castle Hill Farm looked the best of the available choices and we were not disappointed."

Like a favourite pair of shoes we were immediately comfortable, helped by the warm welcome from Lesley and Simon the owners, who gave a guided tour of the cottage. With plenty of room for the four of us - including a large and secluded garden area to enjoy the very warm weather - we were perfectly placed for trips to Wellington, Taunton, Seaton, Exeter and Honiton. Relaxed but packed full at the same time it was the rare short break that worked without any issues. For those wanting a mix of rest and activities with a homely base to return to this is an excellent choice. We can definitely recommend the park and ride when visiting Exeter, which works brilliantly and takes the stress out of visiting a very beautiful city centre. Only downside was that we could have done with a couple of more days at least !
