  • "Wonderful location and hosts- the lodge was spotless and incredibly comfortable with everything we could have needed."

The only thing we missed personally was wi- fi access as we had a hard time staying in touch with visiting family and friends feeding our fur babies back home in the US. But we would most definitely stay here again and have already recommended to other family members

Thank you for your wonderful feedback, it was lovely to meet you both, we hope you had a good flight home, come back and visit us soon. Property Owner

Our stay was near perfect. Breakfast on the terrace over looking the lake with its screen of mature trees was magical. With no other ambient sound the bird song was naturally amplified. The lodge was comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Tracy and Nick have thought of everything. In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger: 'We will be back!'

I feel it should be mentioned on the advert however that the owners live next door with their 3 dogs and 2 cats, who are allowed out off lead. We have a very fearful and reactive dog and would not have booked if we had known this.

Tracey was really friendly and always available if you needed anything. I would defiantly recommend Legge Farm for a nice relaxing holiday. Pat

  • "The lodge was absolutely stunning, it was different to the one advertised much newer and really beautiful, the location was just what we wanted and the area was so peaceful."

The only observations we would comment on are we had expected an enclosed veranda from photographs as we had pets and it was a newer lodge and would benefit from a gate to enclose area for both pets and children as the veranda wraps around out of sight. The mattress on the double bed was very soft and springy and it could do with a more comfortable mattress. We had a great time, it was everything we had wanted from it, would definitely go back.

  • "We were put into another lodge on site as owners were in Chaffinch lodge."

The place was a building site, as they were doing ground works for other lodges, it was noisy due to machinery being used for the ground works. Saying that the owners were very lovely people and tried to be as accommodating as they could given the circumstances, I did send an email to your company but with no response. We had an elderly relative with us who couldn’t venture outside due to the unsafe environment. As you can imagine the holiday was not that relaxing, especially as my father had just passed away and a quiet relaxing break was to help us all relax fir a while. I would like to feel that a partial refund would be looked at given the circumstances of our holiday with your company

  • "We had a lovely half term week at Chaffinch Lodge and would definitely go back."

We took our own towels and pillows due to Covid, however under normal circumstances we would not hesitate to use those provided. The lodge was clean and had all we needed for a relaxing, quiet break away. The fishing lakes and surrounding areas provided some lovely dog walking routes. We will most definitely book to go again.

  • "There were used pan scourers and dish cloth on sink."

Babies bottle with milk in fridge, previous occupyers food in cupboards. Board games and books were still there after we were told they would be taken out and bed linen was stained. All of the above gave us no confidence in it being COVID safe as cupboards and fridge had not even been checked. We had to clean and disinfect everything before we could start our holiday. Lovely location and lodge were let down by the cleanliness especially in these times of Covid19.

  • "The Lodge is located right in front of one of the fishing ponds which give a stunning view of the blue waters when sat on the porch."

There was amble parking for more than one car with an area around the lodge for pets to run when letting out before locking up for the night. Although pets remain on lead in most areas there was a field area at the back to let pets roam wider within a short walk. As for the Lodge itself it was spacious with all the basics needed to self-cater. Microwave, oven, kettle, washing machine/dryer and fridge/freezer all included with the utensils (plates, knifes/fork/spoons, glasses/cups etc). For myself it was great that there was no WIFI and limited phone/data signal as the intention was to get away from the technical day to day noise. A gas fire worked well and provided the night-time relaxing lighting with a TV giving Freeview digital channels. The Lodge was warm, clean, and well-presented throughout and would happily go back in the future. The Lodge was within driving distance of several local viewpoints which allowed travel around the whole area. The owners were very friendly and were on hand if there were any issues (not that we had any). It was a real pleasure for the week and just what we needed to get away and have already recommended to friends and will be looking to go back in the future.

  • "Lovely lodge in a beautiful tranquil setting with lovely owners."

Off season meant it was very quiet. Awful weather amd storm Dennis meant we were indoors a fair bit with young children and it was great. Lots of space, good furnishings and some board games and books are provided to enjoy. Central Heating is fast and heats the whole lodge in a short time. The bath /shower water is hot with a good flow. Only fault was the odd dog hair and scent which is totally understandable as a pet friendly lodge. Even without a dog or a passion to fish we would defo recommend.

Fishing fantastic my husband caught 50 fish all in great condition and various species. The only draw back is no Wfi or mobile phone signal. But didn’t spoil our holiday just something to consider. Warm welcome from our hosts who acted as bailiff and advisor. The Half Moon at Sheepwash is 3 miles away a traditional Devon pub great Sunday roast very reasonably priced and dog friendly. Nearest convenience store is the CO OP at Hatherleigh. Fab Lidi in Bude about 20 miles away. Good fishing tackle shops at Great Torrington and Bude. All in all we recommend hence this is our second visit and back again next March 2020.

Site management were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about local area and the fishing. The fishing was amazing, lots of species, good sized healthy fish, not over stocked like some fisheries, not over fished either, some days we were the only ones on the lake. Even if you don`t fish, highly recommend just for wildlife and tranquility. Sykes were great too, right from initial booking up to the day we left. Good price, kept informed and lots of info.
