  • “There was no hand sanitiser on arrival, so we couldn’t sanitise after touching doors and banisters unless we unpacked.”

No milk had been left (or any form of welcome pack), so we had to go out to find where buy both before we could have a hot drink. We found no hairdryer in the apartment either. There was a general shortage of small cooking utensils, making scrambled eggs for two (and many ingredients for meals intended for two guests) had to be prepared in large saucepans meant for at least four people. In the twin room, which we used, the mattresses are tired, and springs are pushing up near to the surface ...

There was a general shortage of small cooking utensils, making scrambled eggs for two (and many ingredients for meals intended for two guests) had to be prepared in large saucepans meant for at least four people. In the twin room, which we used, the mattresses are tired, and springs are pushing up near to the surface. The odour of the building’s lobby area is very unwelcoming on first, and subsequent, entry. This is a communal building but the issue needs to be addressed to avoid putting off guests.

The property

This is a light and bright apartment, within a large Victorian house, overlooking the beach and seafront in the popular Somerset resort town of Minehead.

Located in a quiet street off the esplanade, just a short walk from the beach, the apartment provides a lovely sunny holiday home by the beach with sea views from most rooms.

Set all on the first floor, the open plan living area has doors to the balcony, where guests can sit and gaze out across the stunning view of the bay.

The two bedrooms are light and airy with the master king-size bedroom having a Victorian fireplace and large curved bay window with excellent sea views, plus the twin room has a door opening to a balcony.

Why not stroll along the seafront at Minehead or take a walk along the cliffs, where there are gorgeous views across the Bristol Channel.

Take a visit to the medieval village of Dunster where the castle dominates the skyline, or enjoy a steam train ride along the coast to the little harbour village of Watchet on the West Somerset Railway.
