  • "Such a lovely cottage in the most perfect location."

I have stayed at the campsite on North Hill many times, and booked this property as it was the closest I could get to the hills and moors I love. My dog and I were very comfortable at Step a Side, and enjoyed some beautiful walks in the area - there really is no need to travel further unless you want to, everything is on your doorstep. I hope I'll be able to stay at this cottage again - I had a great time.

Everthing for us and our dogs comfort.Had to be careful with narrow stairs.Situated in a beautiful spot.Able to walk into Minehead but bit steep coming back.We have booked again for next year but I have just found out it is for sale.

Thank you for your positive feedback. I can confirm that my cottage is for sale as a going concern. I expect it will take a long time to sell. as running a holiday let takes a special kind of person. In the unlikely event a potential buyer doesn't want to continue with holiday bookings , any future unused bookings will be refunded. I hope this explanation allays your concerns or anyone elses for 2024 bookings. Property Owner

Hot water in bathroom slow to run. Parking very hazardous and is not a proper parking space. Location not very private. Nice welcome package.

Parking spot very useful as very little off street parking. Got used to manoeuvring the car in and out of the parking spot. Would recommend and certainly would come to the cottage again if we were in the area again.

  • "Loved the cottage."

It’s small and quirky, decorated and furnished perfectly. The cottage is at the top of a very steep hill but that’s what made it for us. We loved exploring and trying to find different ways into Minehead and back again. We would definitely recommend and will book again.

Many thanks for your lovely comments. We love old town Minehead as well. A bit of a hidden gem. Property Owner

  • "Step-a-side is a chocolate box cottage set on the side of a hill."

Beautifully appointed and equipped. If you are 5 foot tall (as I am) the low door into the kitchen is no problem at all, however my husband managed to bash his head several times. There are walks up North Hill from the door and a parking area is a huge bonus in the locality.

I am glad that you had such an enjoyable stay. We love the walks as well. Thank you for lovely comments Property Owner

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely comfortable chocolate box cottage."

The cottage was in a quiet position in the town with nice views which was very relaxing. Being at the top of the hill afforded us the lovely views but did mean that it was a bit of a haul up and down the hill into the main town. It might be worth mentioning this in the details along with the steep stairs up to the bedroom as it could be a problem for less able bodied people.

The location is very quiet, surrounded by similar cottages and with a great view over Minehead towards Dunster. Just right for two people. We would certainly like to return for another holiday.

  • "Very quiet and peaceful location, offering good access to Coastal Path and other walking routes."

Cottage very comfortable, although quite a steep climb to access on foot from the town centre/seafront. Maybe not the ideal property for persons with mobility issues! Had a small issue with the hot water, but this was dealt with very promptly and without disruption to my holiday. Very happy with cottage and facilities.

  • "Step a side is a gorgeous, original stone cottage."

It had everything in that we needed and was comfortable and cosy. Being tall we both struggled a little by the end of our week with the stooping to get around the low ceilings and doors, but the quaintness made up for that. The location is amazing. Easy walks into the town or down to the harbour. Lots of friendly people who stopped to talk if we had the stable door open. There are so many places to visit close by that we haven’t done them all and will definitely return. A very much needed break away. Many thanks.

  • "Nice clean holiday cottage, had everything needed unlike the actual location."

Minehead was disappointing, found the promenade to be a disappointment, didn’t feel welcoming or friendly. Restaurants and bars disappointing, closed early, food poor and staff generally not bothered, always felt like having customers was an inconvenience to them. Not much to do in the location, found ourselves visiting Weston-Super-Mare, Devon and Cornwall where we had a nicer experience.

The views over Exmoor were spectacular from our bedroom window. It was furnished to a high standard and the kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils if you wanted to cook. We did some lovely walks through woods and over Exmoor the views over the sea breathtaking. We can recommend the walk at Weedon Cross. Why bother to go abroad when you can holiday in beautiful England. Thankyou to the owners for sharing their thatched cottage with them Madeline and Tony

, Step a Side was a fabulous little cottage, with great views, that fitted perfectly. Parking was nearer than expected. Cottage was spotless and we appreciated the treats - especially the ones for the dog! Loved the quirkiness of the whole area and all the little handmade "crafty" touches make the place feel very homely and comfortable. Weather was just perfect and the location gave us access to plenty of walks, whilst being near to the town centre. Highly recommended and we hope to be back!

  • "Clean, cosy, comfy, charming cottage, with extra treats for us and for our dog!"

Beware the narrow winding roads on approach, and the parking space access is a challenge after a long journey. Not a cottage for anyone with dodgy knees, but certainly plenty of character. The area is one well-worth exploring both locally and wider afield.

Thank you for staying at Step a Side and providing feedback. The entrance to the car parking area is 10ft wide. The road leading to the cottage is the main road from the town, up to North Hill on Exmoor. This road is wide enough for farm vehicles and the large campervans that use the camp site further on. • "The cottage itself was lovely."

The only drawback was the parking arrangement It required reversing between two stone walls off a very narrow lane with a foot on either side I had to park with the front of my car protruding into the lane. A longer car would have been very difficult to park. Would help if some of the stone wall was removed. Otherwise all good

Once you have marvelled at the picture-perfect thatched exterior, head inside straight into the charming sitting room, offering a classic cottage style with an electric stove-effect fire set before the sofa and armchair.

Step down into the kitchen/diner where you can enjoy breakfast at the table and rustle up some home-cooked meals when you're not out sampling the delicious restaurants of Minehead.

You can look forward to retiring to the double bedroom at the end of the day, featuring exposed beams and an original decorative fireplace, with the bathroom across the hall hosting a bath with a shower over.

Step a side is just a short walk from the shops and pubs of Minehead, so you can dine out and take an evening stroll on the esplanade before heading back home.
