  • "Lovely cottage, the owner reached out and asked about a high chair as we had our daughter, the owner was very responsive!"

The property was outstanding, very large and very clean! The location is lovely and quite and close to Plymouth, woodlands, pennywell and others, we would come back again in a heart beat!

  • "The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and all the equipment and furnishings are of an excellent standard and quality."

I have never had such a comfortable bed in any rented property or hotel! Very peaceful surroundings and very good directions provided to the cottage. We felt there was a shortage of hanging wardrobe space, especially if staying a fortnight. Another single wardrobe would help.

  • "Meadowlea is a superb holiday home in a beautiful location in rural South Devon."

The property is very smart and the cleanliness was 10/10. It was very well equipped. The property is surprisingly large and ideal for 4 adults. We had a very relaxing week here. A few meals we enjoyed nearby - Surfing Cow ice cream just up the road is delicious (check opening times which vary by season). We also had a very nice Sunday roast at the Rose and Crown in Yealmpton (food served all day, which is unusual in the area) and a Chinese takeaway from Ming, also in Yealmpton (open evenings). If we could pick up this home and place it in every area we visit on holiday, we would!

The kitchen and bathrooms were well appointed and equipped. The views from the sitting room windows were beautiful. My husband and I had a lovely two weeks there at the June/July. It was really quiet and peaceful but there is plenty to do in the surrounding area when you want to venture further afield. We were very lucky with the weather but on our one wet day we went to the cinema in Plymouth which was very easy to get to!

The owners were really nice and replied to my query about check in time quickly. It’s got all the facilities you need and is peaceful and quiet. One thing to note, I suggest that you do follow the directions laid out by the owners as the roads are tiny. I normally use my Tom Tom sat nav but it was useless on the country roads so I switched to Apple Maps which was much better.

  • "Our stay (in March) was excellent."

The cottage had all that we needed. Cottage was warm and beds comfortable. We were 3 elderly persons. Whilst some have commented on the short steep path accessing the cottage, we found it perfectly manageable, although I imagine care needs to be taken in frosty or icy weather. Care also needs to be taken driving in, as there are large pot-holes on the access drive to Alston Hall. We enjoyed meals at the Ship (Noss Mayo) and the Dolphin (Newton Ferrers) and the Co-op at Newton Ferrers was good for groceries. As we had poor weather, the smart TV with access to Netflix was particularly appreciated.

The cottage was lovely very comfortable we could move in and live there, our only complaint it was too warm at times, the heating appeared to come on in the middle of the night and it was like a sauna Also l think a mention should be made to the very narrow lanes to access the property which can be quite hair raising That said it is a beautiful cottage and we wouldn’t hesitate to return

The bungalow was just charming, everything there that you could ever need, and so comfortable - it was all like new! Many thanks also for the tea, coffee, milk and biscuits there - much appreciated after a long journey down there. The countryside views are amazing, and lots of pheasants about too. • "Lovely owners - very polite."

Very clean and tidy. The cottage is in a very rural surrounding. The slope leading down to the front door of the cottage needs a hand rail. Inside the cottage we would recommend that the owners purchase a nest of tables for coffee cups etc.....In the double bedroom a chair would be handy. Shower could do with a caddy lower down for shorter people to place bottles etc. The lanes around the cottage are rather narrow and it took a good ten minutes or so to get to the nearest village. The nearest supermarket was approximately 30 minutes away back up on the Devon Express way. The villages have little convenience stores but not enough to supply for a weeks shopping. Overall if you want a relaxing holiday without going out or seeing people the cottage is perfect.

The beautiful views will be a lasting memory. John and Sarah on hand whenever needed. We made a trip into Plymouth for the Aquarium which is highly recommend on a 'rainy' day. Also visited Dartmoor Wildlife Park, again well worth a visit. We also managed to squeeze in a couple of NT properties all of which within 45 minutes of the cottage. • "The cottage is a real "home from home"."

Everything you need is where you think it will be. The accommodation is immaculate and beautifully decorated, but really comfortable too. If you love peace and quiet this property is wonderful. The views from the seating areas are spectacular, all the way to Dartmoor on a clear day, but always rolling countryside. We watched the harvesting and bailing over the week whilst having dinner. Bring your telescope for star gazing at night. It's very quiet but really close to a wonderful beach at Mothescombe with reasonable all day parking. You can walk the south coast path from the cottage. It's easy to get back to A379 for travelling further afield across South Hamms and into Plymouth and Cornwall beyond. Take heed of the directions from A379 though and come through Battisborough Cross as some of the other lanes SATNAVs like are very narrow and used by the tractors quite a lot. It would test your reversing skills! Just book it, you won't be disappointed.

Very homely and comfortable with lovely views over the surrounding fields. The owner kindly provided a welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits and a pint of milk in the fridge so we could have a cuppa before we'd even unpacked. The cottage was EXCEPTIONALLY clean. The double bed was so comfortable we actually came home and ordered a new mattress the same. We took my disabled father with his stroller and the cottage was perfect for him once inside but beware the rather steep slope to the door. The location was beautiful, very peaceful and quiet. It is a bit off the beaten track (for us part of the attraction) but you do have to drive down some rather narrow Devon lanes to get there. Would I recommend this cottage? Absolutely. Would we stay again? Without hesitation. 5 stars.

Tucked away at the end of a private drive we enjoyed unspoilt views of the valley. The cottage sits alongside the owners' property who were very pleasant and helpful; however, at no point did we feel imposed upon or overlooked. The cottage itself was really well equipped and spotlessly clean. The weather was good for us, but even on a rainy day the views could be enjoyed from the sofa looking out the patio doors. We really enjoyed the two pubs in Noss Mayo, which is only 10 mins drive away and the beach at Mothercombe was close by, sandy and perfect for swimming.
