  • "Lovely light, spacious property with the most amazing views."

It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The bottle of bubbly was a nice surprise! Perfectly positioned for walks on the Coast path, Lynmouth, Valley of the Rocks and Watersmeet. We are already planning our return visit.

Thank you very much for the great feedback. It was so nice to hear you are planning to come again in the future. Lynton really is a great place to base yourself and we hope to see you again soon. Kindest regards, Yasmin & David. Property Owner

  • "A good property."

There is, however, a problem with the apartment (and probably the rest of the building). We found a dead mouse in the top bedroom (photo's can be supplied) and were worried by the hygiene implications of an infestation which was quite upsetting.

Thank you for the feedback and we were sorry to hear about the mouse that you found next to the balcony door. Thankfully the housekeeper was on hand to assist and having carried out a thorough check of both the apartment and building, we found no other signs of mice. Sadly we can only assume it managed to come in whilst the door was open and is not an ongoing concern. Kind regards, Yasmin & David. Property Owner

  • "The property is clean, spacious and well-equipped, and has an amazing master bedroom."

As other reviewers have said, Bayview Tower has incredible views from all floors and the patio. It is also a short off-road walk to the wonderful Valley of the Rocks, and the beautiful riverside Watersmeet walk is also easily accessible (the funicular railway is literally round the corner). Lynton itself is a lovely little town with good places to eat and a delightful small cinema. Highly recommended.

Thank you for the great feedback and we were very pleased to hear you had a great time. Very good of you to give such useful information for other interested parties. We love the Valley of the Rocks and highly recommend it as well. Property Owner

  • "The views were amazing and the accommodation spacious."

WiFi excellent. Towels and robes very nice. There are some things that could be improved; lighting in the living area was very bright and some lamps would be good, the kitchen equipment was somewhat limited. The fridge is small. I don't like the signs about the place which give an institutional feel. We had a lovely week and enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for the constructive feedback and for the suggestion of lamps in the living area. I understand what you are saying here and will look at getting some softer lighting added for the next season. I will also look at the signs to see if they can be made a little more user friendly. • "Beautiful location and fantastic apartment."

Views amazing. Cleaners had cleaned floors and bathrooms but hadn’t dusted as dust thick on tv and bedroom furniture. Other than that it’s probably the best apartment we’ve ever stayed in.

Fantastic news that you loved the apartment and views. I have had a chat with the housekeeper about the Dust and have been assured that this will be rectified. Property Owner

  • "The view is fantastic and makes up for some of the issues with the property- it’s all quite shabby and in places actually dirty."

Everything had a musty smell especially the bed linen, as if it hadn’t been dried properly. The sofas were full of crumbs that had not been cleaned out for a while. The hot water situation, which I had to ring the housekeeper about, just doesn’t last for 4 showers and the gowns were far too small for the average adult!

Thank you Rachel for your feedback, The views are fantastic and I’m pleased you enjoyed them during your stay. As for issues with the cleanliness of the apartment, we really must be made aware of these at the time. We pay an awful lot of money to refresh the apartment between each guest and as you noted there are clear instructions and contacts available in case you are in any way dissatisfied. Please use these contacts as we want you to be happy with your Holiday Home. The addition of dressing gowns is an added benefit for your comfort and again the housekeepers can provide larger ones where required. Communication is key here. Kind regards, Yasmin & David. It lived up to our high expectations. Everything we needed was provided although we didn’t eat in very often as there are good restaurants in Lynton and Lynmouth. A lovely base for visiting National Trust properties and RHS gardens. Only one small suggestion- maybe lighter tog duvets in the summer months. Also there was lots of glassware but only one proper wine glass. We rarely return to a property, but in this instance I think we will be back.

Thank you Celia for your feedback. Glad you had a great time and enjoyed all Lynton has to offer. We appreciate the feedback on the duvets and will look to buy some summer ones as suggested. Kind regards, Yasmin & David. Property Owner

  • "Bay View Tower scored 98/100!"

!! It was everything we hoped for - the quality of the property, including outstanding cleanliness and furniture and equipment, the stunning views of course, and also the genuine friendliness and efficiency of the maintenance staff. The loss of 2/100 was down to the quilt on the top floor!! It was heavy, misshapen, lumpy and unbearably hot. I resorted to pushing it as far down the bed as possible, having the windows open and just having my dressing gown over me. Easily solved, I'm sure, by a newer more lightweight quilt. It's a minor irritant. Bay View Tower was sensational - a very special place for a luxurious and relaxing holiday. Thank you so much for the welcome of wine, chocolates and milk too - a most thoughtful touch.

Thank you very much for your feedback. 98%, we are very pleased with that. We also appreciate the feedback about the duvet and will arrange for that to be changed over. Thanks again for being great guests. You are welcome anytime. Property Owner

Great walks too especially the walk along the river to watersmeet. We also enjoyed the Ancient Marina with its quirkiness and great food. There was only one thing I wasn’t happy with and that was a blood stain on the bedroom carpet which could have been from the people before us and maybe didn’t have time to carpet wash? But overall a great place to stay and would definitely Recommend it.

Excellent property although could do with a bit of decorating in places the exit road needs to be opened as getting out of the property drive is hairy due to the steepness of the dive way and the sharp right turn particularly in a SUV fantastic four poster bed and the view is spectacular would stay again

Dear David, We appreciate your feedback and we’re pleased to hear you loved the views and bedroom. The tree on the driveway is a real problem and is an ongoing insurance issue. We apologise for this and are pushing for a better solution ASAP. This year has been fully booked and so things I am sure are looking a bit worn as your and the previous feedback has shown. • "Hi, the break was fantastic it's a lovely place, just some things for improvement to help others."

    - some of the furniture was worn to the point where foam and the chair fillings were exposed, maintenance could be improved there was an attemp to put more lighting in the top bedroom but it was still v dark where the main lights weren't working. Some of the bedding/towels smelt a bit fusty as did the inside of the wardrobes. The telescope seemed to be a cosmetic feature rather than something that you could actually use which was disappointing considering the beautiful views. The blocked exit lane due to fallen tree looked like it had been there for many months which was an issue as you had to use the steep narrow entrance on a sharp bend to exit, my car wasn't too large and skidded everytime I exited. If the ground had been icey it would have been impossible and in a larger car I don't see how they would have got out, it was a little stressful. Couldn't find a tumble dryer despite a note saying it was by the bins and finally there was a sign on the door to say that there was a rear entrance to the property but couldn't find it, there was no signage by the bins. Fabulous place but could be improved nothing worse than having facilities you can't use, oh yes and the coffee machine had pods for a different type of machine and no instructions left for the machine that had clearly been replaced. WiFi also intermittent and could not work out how to use the central heating so used plug in heaters that were available. Despite all of this I would go back the views were incredible and a great location for shops. Hope that helps Cathryn

Very clean, every need for a holiday ‘home from home’ thought of, very comfortable first floor bed with a huge bath in the en suite, powerful shower in the top room, plenty of garden furniture on the private patio! The welcome gifts were a very nice touch and to top all of this, an Alexa in the lounge & bedroom! We don’t own an Alexa so thoroughly enjoyed evenings listening to songs from our youth. Perfectly situated for fabulous views of the bay, obviously high up being in Lynton, we were grateful for the funicular railway to get us down into Lynmouth. £3.20 each, each way - an amazing experience. If after 6pm we would get a taxi back up for £3.50. Thank you so much for a holiday full of wonderful memories.

  • "I have given a low score on cleanliness as there was a problem with the top bedroom."

The room was very cold and there was an infestation of flies on the bed and at the patio window which caused us a lot of distress.. There is obviously a serious problem here which should be addressed immediately. Having spoken to the cleaning company, I was told that a pest control company had been to the apartment 2/3 weeks previously. The problem had obviously not been sorted. I found it quite telling that one day a pest control vehicle was parked next to me and was obviously in an adjoining property I find it difficult to understand that you can offer this property for rental knowing full well that there is a health problem. A check on the property had obviously not been taken. It seems to me that you are only interested in taking people's money regardless of any issues as you must know about the state of the room. I should not be expected to sort this kind of issue out when I am on holiday. I came away to relax, not to sort serious problems out. This has really left me with a very low opinion of Sykes.

Thank you for your feedback, we were sorry to learn that you had experienced issues with flies during your stay and that you felt them to be a health issue for you, we confirm that we have previously had pest control out to deal with a 'Cluster Fly issue' that we were made aware of. You advised you had contacted us the day before your departure, we are only sorry that we were not contacted straight way during your stay as we would have been happy to attend the property and address any issues so that they would not have impacted on stay. The property
