  • "Great location."

Beautiful view. We found the apartment comfortable perfect for our stay. The balcony is a bonus. Nice to sit and relax. Its our third time at these apartments. First time at CS lewis balcony. Perfect location for valley of the rocks, lynton shops. Not long to walk down to lynmouth. The apartment was great. We'd definitely stay there again.

It is very well equipped and very clean. Lots of parking spaces. Beds are really comfortable. The locals are very friendly and welcoming with plenty of places to eat and drink.

It is well equipped, clean and spacious. The view is magnificent. Proximity to the town is good. We had slight problems whilst there but theses were dealt with quickly and efficiently. We would thoroughly recommend a stay in this apartment.

  • "A beautiful apartment, very well-appointed with wonderful views."

The step onto the balcony does require care but the effort is well worth it. Bathrooms are both spacious and there is plenty of room for two couples to share the space, without getting in each other's way! This apartment is very well located for access to the coast path, footpath to Lynmouth and the Cliff Railway. The hills are steep- both up to Lynton and down to Lynmouth- but that is part of the beauty.

  • "We chose the apartment for the balcony and wonderful view."

However, we are both in our seventies and I am partially disabled with some mobility issues. Clambering out of a window to get access to the balcony was a bit of a challenge as was the climb up the hill to Lynton. The apartment was delightful in all ways and we had a splendid holiday but you might consider highlighting these matters in your advertising.

  • "Overall, we had a lovely stay and would happily return."

Lynton and Lynmouth are interesting places with plenty to do (e.g. shops, restaurants, cinema, walking, etc). Several days we didn't need to use the car. The apartment is comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen. And great views. My constructive (/picky) comments would be that access to the balcony is tricky (i.e. climbing through a window), the property's exterior needs some maintenance, the lounge furniture/ tv layout could be improved, and finally, more hooks and shelves are needed, especially in the bathrooms.

  • "Although I had seen the pictures I was really surprised by the space and brightness."

Kitchen modern well kitted out. Main bedroom (ground floor) very comfortable bed, massive bathroom with a good shower and fast filling bath. Wonderful place to stay. Very clean! From the car park, there are a few steps up to the main doors, then about ten steps to the apartment but it is steep. Its mentioned at the time of booking. The only thing I would change would be the lounge, just make it a bit more comfortable and furniture positioning. I went in December so didn't use the balcony but can imagine in the summer you'd sit out there enjoying the spectacular views.

Pleased you had an enjoyable stay. Property Owner

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in C S Lewis Balcony."

A well appointed, very comfortable apartment with wonderful views of the coast. The apartment was clean, spacious and well placed for exploring North Devon and Exmoor. It would benefit from a store cupboard for food and clearer directions for finding it otherwise it was ideal for us. Thoroughly recommend it.

  • "The views from the apartment were nice."

But we were very disappointed that when we reported that the water in the en suite shower was not draining properly nothing has been done and we were simply told to use another bathroom. Also, when we reported that bed sheets and towels smelt, the replacement sheet in the second bedroom contained old marks which looked like dried blood. Again, no help as provided in replacing the stained sheet. As a result, our enjoyment of this property was ruined. Therefore, we will never be staying at this property again and will never make another booking through Sykes, as we feel that they were not helpful and have not adequately dealt with our concerns.

We are sorry that you were not happy with the service provided by our Housekeeping team they do all they can to make our guests stay as comfortable as possible. The team did attend and checked the shower traps were all clear, they also put down drain cleaning chemicals. However it was found if the shower was then run for several minutes did appear to start to not drain as quickly as it should have. As you can appreciate being at the busiest holiday time in a small village it can sometimes take a few days for a plumber to attend. In the mean time it was suggested you use the shower in the bath and the main shower in the other bathroom. At your request the team changed all the sheets and towels in the apartment. Our bedding and towels are all cleaned to a high standard and any marked items, (as we appreciate accidents do sometime happen), are disposed of and replaced with new not reused. Your experience of our apartment is very different from that experienced by the majority of our guests. We hope that for any future visits to this part of the country you find accommodation that better facilitates your needs. Property Owner

Our 1 comment would be about the window that you have to climb out to get to The Balcony. It would not be suitable for larger people or very tall. My friend banged her head and she is 5ft 4ins! It should be mentioned when booking. Also instructions for finding the driveway as it is a very steep and difficult road to turn around if you miss the entrance!!

Two large double rooms with comfortable beds, enough sockets and good lighting. Good showers, and bath in en-suite for soakers! Modern electric radiators in all rooms controlled with individual thermostats. Would be better to leave one cupboard in kitchen empty so that food can be stored. Great walks from apartment and couple of good restaurants nearby so did not need to use car. Would certainly recommend and return.

However, when there was a plumbing problem, Skyes assumed we were guilty without hearing our side of the story. If we hadn’t had the owner's phone number, Sykes would have sent us a bill. Fortunately the owners were very reasonable and sorted everything out. I’d be happy to book their property again, just not through Sykes.

Loved the apartment as was visiting my brother with my elderly parents as my brother lived just two minutes away from this apartment. Just a few things I thought could be better. As my parents are elderly they get very cold, unfortunatly the heating could not be altered it was locked and didnt come on until 9.30pm. There wasnt hardly any toilet roll in either bathroom and no spare roll (a bit tight I thought). My brother and his wife came to our apartment for a drink, the wine glasses were just an odd set nothing matched. No toiletries except a tiny soap in the bathroom. I enjoyed the stay but for the money didnt feel it quite that special mark.

  • "The views are amazing from this apartment."

We sat outside on the balcony for breakfast on several occasions and also enjoyed a glass of wine out there in the evening. It is very relaxing to just sit and enjoy the view. The beds are extremely comfortable and to be able to lay in bed and enjoy the view was lovely. The kitchen was very well equipped and both bathrooms were superb. A very small niggle would be on the odd occasion we had the tv on we found it was too high on the wall to sit comfortably and watch (this didn't affect our overall enjoyment in any way!). The apartment is in a great location to explore the local area. We enjoyed a daily walk to Lynmouth, a visit to the Valley of Rocks, the Watersmeet walk, as well as a longer walk to Hunters Inn and back (highly recommend this walk, the scenery and views were some of the best we have seen). We ate out at several different venues and we would definitely recommend a visit to The Crown where the staff were brilliant, especially Mark who was very friendly and gave us valuable advice on the local area.

Plenty of storage for luggage etc. Bed linen was very clean and good quality. Mattress gave a restful night's sleep. The settees/couches were a bit on the low back side and not particularly comfortable. Access to the balcony is a little bit awkward but can appreciate that this is worked around planning issues to maintain the property's exterior. Shower and bathroom facilities are outstanding. Note that the second bedroom has more stairs to access it and it does not have the same view. Facilities within the village were somewhat muted due to Covid. CS Lewis balcony apartment has magnificent views of the village below and the cliffs on the opposite side of the bay. A lovely relaxing visit for us both.

Rooms are spacious. A bit of a nuisance that there’s nowhere in either bathroom to put anything down except one the floor, and no tray or shelf in showers for gel, shampoo etc. One gripe is that I had to wash all the towels because they had an unpleasant smell- dirty laundry smell- like they hadn’t been left to dry properly - so spent one morning going back and forth between apartment and tumble dryer (other guests were using it at times). We very much enjoyed our stay nonetheless and especially the panoramic views.

We were so well situated for town of Lynton and also to explore surrounding area. Free parking so no worry about getting a space in road. At night sat on balcony and watched House Martins come home to roost. So quiet and peaceful no noise at all at night. Amazing free standing bath was a pleasure but a bit slow to drain away, small niggle. Loads of crockery and utensils in kitchen.
