  • "The Old Log Shed is very well set up and fully equipped with quality furnishings and facilities."

Jane, the owner, was very welcoming. She provided us with a lovely sponge cake, so thanks again Jane. The location is very quiet, which is what we like. Peace and quiet.

  • "A lovely/practical cottage whose owners had thought through what every self caterer needs."

The result? Nothing else needed. A pity there are no footpaths to walk "from the door" but there are many excellent scenic walks within 4/5 miles and the coast is only 30 mins or so, away Loved Lyme Regis, Seaton, Sidmouth, Beer (particularly there Caves) Shall we return ? - Yes.

Very helpful owner, even helping with our Tesco order when we were stuck in traffic! Could not establish why we had such a problem with flies in the property, even when there was no food out or other such items to attract them. Altogether, aside from the flies, we had a superb break.

We could not fault the accommodation, it was extremely well equipped, and the owners were so friendly and helpful, and welcomed us with a delicious homemade cake! Our children loved playing tennis and in the garden, and it is in a great location for enjoying the seaside, as well as other local tourist attractions (including alpaca trekking, donkey sanctuary, fossil hunting, and Bicton Park and gardens). The living space comprises a snug living room with a wood burning stove and a neat kitchen with granite worktops and dining area.

Outside you have your own enclosed garden with a large level lawn, croquet and a swing, and a sun trap terrace with table, chairs and a barbecue.

You are also welcome to use the owners’ all-weather tennis court.

About the location

HONITON

Ottery St Mary 5.6 miles; Lyme Regis 14.2 miles; Exeter 16.7 miles.

Honiton is a delightful market town in East Devon, with plenty to offer visitors. It lies in the valley of the River Otter and is surrounded by rolling Devon hills, green wooded valleys and plenty of scattered farming villages. Honiton has an attractive High Street stretching almost 2 miles, and lined with individually owned shops, pubs and restaurants. Honiton has been famous for lacemaking since the reign of Elizabeth I and still has a few lacemakers in work today - visitors can see some fine examples of antique lace in the town’s Allhallows Museum. Honiton boasts the only public art gallery in East Devon; the Thelma Hulbert Gallery occupies an attractive Grade I listed Victorian house, and has links with the Hayward Gallery, London. Honiton is only a short drive from the dramatic 20 mile stretch of Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural World Heritage Site. Resorts such as Seaton, Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth are found along this stretch of coastline, and all have much to occupy the visitor. Near to Honiton is the cathedral city of Exeter with plenty of large shops, a wealth of museums, a theatre and fabulous restaurants.
