Situated on a working farm in Awliscombe near Honiton, Devon, is this characterful farmhouse, The Old Cider Cellar.
Part of an original Devon longhouse, and in the same family for more than eight generations, this cosy cottage has both original features and modern facilities.
The cottage welcomes six guests and two well-behaved dogs.
There is plenty of living space and flexibility in sleeping arrangements, making this an ideal base for friends or family.
The cosy sitting room has plenty of comfortable seating, a smart TV and - for those cooler days - a wood burner․ The kitchen/diner is well-equipped, making it a breeze to whip up delicious meals.
Enjoy views across the farm and countryside beyond from the dining room / conservatory, which overlooks the enclosed private garden and patio area․ The garden is both child and pet-friendly, idyllic for an afternoon relax or alfresco dining.
The downstairs also features a toilet and washing machine in the utility room.
Upstairs you will find three spacious bedrooms․ The main bedroom includes a king-size bed and an en-suite with walk-in shower․ Each of the other two bedrooms have double beds, one of which can be converted to two singles on request․ There is also the main bathroom.
If you can tear yourself away from The Old Cider Cellar and its charming backdrop, head into Honiton, a historic market town with a range of engaging independent shops․ There are many places for lunch in the town including Boston Tea Party, Coffee 1 and Toast․ In the evening, you may choose to visit the Railway, the Holt or The Star, or head out into local villages, many of which offer excellent pub grub.
For great views across the countryside, head just up the hill to Hembury Fort.
Beaches within a short drive include Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton, while a little further afield are Lyme Regis and Beer on the world-famous Jurassic coast․ We recommend you visit the 2000 year old Beer Quarry Caves, Seaton is also worth a visit for its historic tramway.
Nearby family-friendly outings include Wildwood Escot, home to a zip-line, diverse wildlife and a maze, and Crealy Theme Park and Resort․ For those interested in animals, we recommend Axe Valley Wildlife Park and the Donkey Sanctuary.
