  • "Great flat and location."

Bang in the middle of things but feeling quite discreet and serene inside. If the rest of the building was as good it would have scored 8 or 9. The flat beneath had piles of cardboard outside it which I had to squeeze past every time I entered and left it. The building's carpet was musty and needed a good clean to get it up to scratch. The mattress was very firm and the best I've had at a Sykes cotage thus far. The main window in the main room would not stay open. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends but hope that the bins outside building and the cardboard outside flat beneath would have been remedied, improved.

We are glad you loved the location of Harbour's Loft and found the bed so comfortable. The main window stayed open when we were there a few days before you so will get our property manager to check - with the variable climate the sash frames expand and shrink, so it sometimes needs pushing right up or using the block left out to keep it open. Apologies for the inconvenience about the packaging on the stairs: the flat below has just been renovated and we were aware the new resident was moving in the week you were there. Had we known the rubbish was there, we would have contacted the owner for you, which we have now done so it can be removed. We are really pleased the ground floor flat will soon be completed too as we and the new flat owners agree with you about the communal carpet and entrance and plans are in place to upgrade this. Hopefully you and future visitors will soon notice a positive improvement. Many thanks for your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay at Harbour's Loft in beautiful Ilfracombe. Best wishes, Clare Property Owner

  • "We all really loved Harbour's Loft."

The views over the town are fantastic and an ideal spot to watch the sunrise with a morning cuppa. It was closer to the beach than we could imagine and were on the harbour beach everyday within 30th ones of leaving the flat.! Everything worked as it should and when we did need assistance the agency and the owners were brilliant.

  • "Perfect little accommodation for a break away down Devon!"

It's situated right next to the car park which is very handy and it's the top floor flat. There's a couple of flights of stairs up to the front door then another set of stairs to the main floor. It has lovely views where you can see parts of the harbour and the waves against the cliffs. We came down during Feb half term and arrived during the storms too. The rooms were lovely and cozy and warmed up nicely with a bit of heating on, although it wasn't needed all the time. We loved how Wibbly wobbly the walls and floors were too! The beds were really comfy (especially the pillows!) Everything had lovely little seaside decor touches throughout too. Our kids actually loved sleeping on the pull out sofa bed as well. The shower pressure isn't anywhere near your power shower style but still sufficient enough to wash with at the end of the day. All in all it was a really lovely stay!

  • "This property is brilliant for families!"

Loads of space and a great layout. As you are on the top floor of the building the views of the cliffs and harbour are beautiful. The apartment is a lot bigger than it looks from the pictures also only a 30 second walk to the harbour edge. Do advice trying to book the local restaurants ahead of time but we found some really nice places within 5-10 walk. The costal walk is great to see the rugged coastline and the harbour. Parking is directly behind the flat and the cost is not extortion either. Will definitely try to book this place again when we return to ilfracombe.

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in ilfracombe."

Harbours loft has amazing views and is lovingly decorated. Very clean with plenty of utensils, linen, towels….Slept very well and actually the flat is surprisingly more spacious than the impressioni I got from the photos. Location is perfectly central. Ilfracombe has so many lovely places to eat but book well in advance for most restaurants. Lovely nature walks near by, take a day trip to Lundy island if you can, Tunnels Beaches are great and the golden Woolacombe beach is 15 minutes drive away. Would definitely come back for another holiday!

  • "The dustbins kept outside the front door is not a good start."

Fighting the bins to get a suitcase in through the front door. In fact the whole bin/recycle saga was messy. The whole system fails from the off when there is not the right colour bin available for the right type of waste.

Dear Mr Broomfield Apologies that you were met by the site of the uncollected bins due to the impact of COVID. We have enquired with the council but unfortunately there is no alternative site for the bins which serve all 4 flats. Upon receiving your comments we immediately made further enquiries and apparently the shared recycling bins have not been collected for 4 weeks despite being left out as instructed. In the light of this we have now paid a private contractor to remove the rubbish. We hope that you otherwise found the apartment to your liking and that you enjoyed Ilfracombe and some sunny weather. • "We had a lovely stay, and the apartment is very comfortable and homely."

It is a shame about exterior as it lets the apartment down as the initial impression is not good. Very central location, with short walks to beaches and restaurants (which will need booking as soon as you get there, as we missed out). Parking was also a surprise and much better than we’d imagined having rad other reviews on area. Overall would recommend.

  • "You have to arrive later for the place to have a covid clean allegedly!"

On that basis finding tomato sauce on the table and many children's handprints across the TV unit meant this was far from a normal clean never mind a so called covid clean! Then rang those looking after the flat to be told despite the brochure saying otherwise the place did not have 2 sets of keys. We then find a second set so very clear they simply couldn't be bothered and fobbed us off! So in short get someone decent to look after the place and it would be great. Good.location, spacious and well equipped flat

We are glad you enjoyed the location and facilities of Harbour's Loft. We were surprised and disappointed to read your comments which affected the start of your holiday. Thank you for bringing it to our attention - it was immediately raised and addressed with our property manager. Property Owner

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Harbour's Loft."

Brilliant location, lovely apartment with a great view and plenty of extras included that were very much a nice to have. Would definitely recommend as long as whoever is staying doesn't mind four flights of stairs. We managed fine with children of 4 and 1.5 years. Only thing we couldn't do was recycle glass as there was no blue box to do so but this is such a minor fact in what was a fantastic week.

  • "We loved our stay in Harbours loft."

The views were beautiful the apartment is exactly as it’s listed. We were pre warned about the flights of stairs to get up. Us and our 4 year old managed them absolutely fine and the apartment is definitely worth the journey up there. We had everything we needed there and we were close to the town and the harbour. Some of the windows and glasses hadn’t been cleaned but that wasn’t a big deal to us. When checking out we checked the information book that the owner had left for us (amazing idea!) has so much information about the appliances and the surrounding area! It said check out was 11 so we were ready for 10:30 but the cleaner came at 10:20 and rushed us out as she has “4 houses to do before 3 so I come early” as she said. We would stay again, we loved the place and you can tell it’s been purchased by someone who cares as a lot of effort has been put into the apartment. I loved reading why it was purchased and a little bit of info into the people who purchased it.

  • "Fantastic location - the shortest walk to the prettiest harbour around Everything you could need in the flat, with some helpful toys for our 2 toddlers."

We cooked each day and found we had everything we could need. It is very high up with 6 flights of stairs, however, it is worth this effort as the view is spectacular and we are glad to have chosen here even with small Children. The sofa is nice and big, but not the most comfy and getting old - perhaps worth replacing soon. The wifi worked well all week with enough power for downloading some Netflix. Please note it does lack a hellipad, olympic sized swimming pool and jacuzzi.

  • "Entrance to flat was filthy with two full wheelie bins that were stinking and loads of flys."

The staircase was steep, the flat its self on first appearance was fine but then discovered patches of damp under window in lounge and thick dust and hair behind sofa! (I had to reach behind to plug in lamp)There was a crack in window in master bedroom and shabby skirting boards. There was a picture on web site that looked like a chest of draws in master room but this turned out to be a shoe storage unit so was disappointed not to be able to store clothes in room.

Thank you very much for your feedback and bringing this to our attention. We are sorry that you were disappointed about the clothes storage in the master bedroom, to allow save space we do provide a large wardrobe in the hallway to allow you store your clothes. Thank you again for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "Nested in the harbour, the flat is really well placed and walking distance to most points of interest in the town."

It is clean, well maintained, and has all the facilities you would expect. On the 4th floor, it provides a birds eye view almost on all sides of the flat, with the main table overlooking the harbour. The entrance of the house and staircase leading to the flat is a bit tired, but should not distract too much from the flat itself. There is plenty to do around the place and beyond. All in all a very pleasant stay.

  • "We had a great time !"

As other people mentioned the entrance and stairs are a bit grubby, but as I expected this it wasn’t a problem ( tried to hoover but couldn’t reach !) The flat was brilliant - spacious and very well equipped and clean, with a wonderful view from the lounge window . The seagulls were very loud and disturb sleep which led one of us to buy ear plugs ! (We struggled a bit with the outside front door key ( black top ) but everything else was fine - we replaced tv remote batteries and the ice box was over icing on the fridge ) Overall we just loved it and had a brilliant week - thank you ! Excellent holiday rental and location .

  • "I do confess that upon arrival we were dubious as to what we were getting into."

Large wheelie bins on the front porchway. Grey, tatty net curtain at the front door of the multi-use property. Equally tatty handwritten note 'do not slam this door' on the front door glass panel. Bins and rubbish in boxes in the entrance hall. Large aluminium ladder on the first flight of stairs. And a pasting board propped against the wall - no work going on though. And then we arrived at our booked accommodation 'Harbours Loft' and WHAT A TREAT! Wonderfully cosy, clean and modern with a lovely view of the harbour - a real gem, thankyou. (Just goes to show that one should NOT judge a book by its cover!
