The property

This lovely barn cottage that sleeps six people is situated in the rural village of High Bickington, Devon, less than two miles from the Libbaton Golf Club.

Situated next to a farmhouse, this beautiful rural property provides three bedrooms over two levels and is ideally located for many of the parkland areas in the region.

It is a real delight for those who wish to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

On the ground floor is a well-equipped cottage style kitchen with Aga cooker and dining area, a shower room, and a cosy sitting area complete with open fire, two sofas and a TV with Freeview.

There is also a games room which is fully heated and contains table tennis, table football and darts.

On the first floor you’ll find two spacious double bedrooms, one of these has a king-size bed, a twin bedroom and a bathroom.

Access to the fully enclosed garden is provided just off the downstairs bathroom, where you'll find stunning views of the countryside as well as a patio with a picnic table and benches.

The village of High Bickington is an ideal destination for those who like to cycle and walk, with a whole host of trails and scenic routes available.

You're a thirty-minute car journey from Exmoor National Park, which is home to rare wildlife, exceptional coastal views, and is a place to really enjoy a sense of remoteness and tranquillity that is all too rare in today's busy world.

There is also the nearby Bodmin Moor, which plays host to Dozmary Pool, the mythical place where Sir Bedivere was reported to have thrown the famous sword Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake!

And don't forget to keep your eyes open for the fabled Beast of Bodmin, the large wild cat that has featured in many tales local to the area.

The small rural North Devon village of High Bickington is set in the area known as 'Tarka country'. On a ridge above the Taw Valley boasting views towards Exmoor and Dartmoor, the village offers a Post Office, two pubs, a holistic beauty salon and Libbaton golf course. The small village of Umberleigh is only five miles away and has a railway station where trains run on the Tarka Line to Barnstaple or Exeter. Within driving distance is the historic town of Great Torrington, where you will find independent shops and Dartington glassworks where visitors can watch in wonder at the glassblowers, plus on the outskirts of town is Rosemoor, a garden of national importance with forty acres to delight and inspire a wide range of visitors. This area of North Devon has something for everyone including country walks, fishing and golf, as well as good access to a selection of wonderful beaches.
