"This was a really lovely property to stay in and a trip down memory lane for our group as my mum is from the village and was born in the other half of the house and her extended family lived in lower great tour."
The house was great with everything thought of. The only thing I would suggest is that people with allergies to feathers/animals in particular, this might not be the property for you. One of our group really struggled, especially in the sitting room. But if you can go armed with antihistamines it's well worth it!!
Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are thrilled you loved the property and that it catered for your every need. As the property is pet friendly, the owners are meticulous with cleaning, especially when it comes to pet hair, therefore we were surprised to read that you had any issue, but can only apologise that you did. Please know if you had called prior to your visit we could have informed you of the feather cushions in the sitting room, which may well have been the cause of your party members struggles. We are happy to hear you had a successful trip down memory lane and do hope that you will be back to visit the area soon. Property Owner

"Lower Great Torr was the most fantastic cottage."
The gardens were amazing with lots of little nooks and crannies that our Labrador Penny thoroughly enjoyed. We could relax and unwind knowing the gardens were safe and secure. The cottage was wonderfully maintained and had amazing character. Wonwell beach down the road was magnificent, when the tide was out the walls along the expanse of sand were breathtaking. When the tide was in Penny the dog enjoyed swimming. The beds at Lower Great Torr was exceptionally comfortable and we all had a fantastic nights sleep. Our whole family had a most relaxing time and wouldn’t hesitate to book again
Thank you so much for your review , we are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Lower Great Torr and the beautiful Wonwell beach nearby. Thank you also for looking after the house so nicely during your stay , we hope to see you back in the future. Helen Property Owner

"We had a fabulous time at Lower Great Torr!"
The cottage was lovely with the kitchen diner being the favourite place to hang out. The beds were comfortable and the rainfall showers in the ensuite and downstairs shower were a big hit. There was plenty of hot water for the 5 of us to have showers each morning. The house was well equipped with all the tech needed for a restful stay & the WiFi was strong enough for us all to be online if we wished. The digital radio was also a big hit. The garden was lovely and well maintained- our dog loved it and has been sulking since we got home!
The owners were easy to reach and really helpful by phone and email for any queries.
The walk to Wonwell Beach is well worth it and much easier than driving! The coastal walk was also a hit. The nearby Dolphin pub was a favourite with fabulous food and friendly bar staff.
We had a fabulous stay and would highly recommend this property!
Thank you Hayley for your lovely review , we are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us and all that the house and area had to offer. We would be delighted to see you back at Lower Great Torr in the future. Helen Property Owner

I’d definitely recommend, especially with how well equipped the kitchen was. And the proximity to Wonwell beach is incredible.

"Lovely comfortable house and beds were really lovely."
Location is fab and the basic facilities are above expectations.
Extra hours for cleaning upon arrival did not appear to be used. House had dust and some of the kitchenware were dirty with previous visitors food on. There was also dog faeces in the garden on the entrance to the property.
It is also important to note that the garden is not enclosed and there are a few areas where small - medium dogs could escape onto country lanes.
Finally, we feel that it needs to be described on the website that the sofa/ cushions are made of duck feather filling. This resulted in one of our guests having an allergic reaction during our visit. Thankfully it did not result in medical attention but may need to be advices for others with allergies worse than our guest.
Thank you for your review. We are so glad you loved the house and the area.
We are very sorry that the house did not meet up to the high standards of cleanliness that you should expect ,and we aim to provide, we have taken this up with our cleaning company as you are the second person who found this to be an issue. We have visited the house this week and have taken measures to prevent a reoccurrence and given the house a complete overhaul.
As far as the sofa is concerned, we were not advised that any of your party had allergies to feathers . We are glad you found the beds comfortable, these are all made of high quality manmade fibres.

"We had a fantastic time here with our 3 kids and dog, it’s a lovely secluded place to stay during these uncertain times."
The garden is a beautiful haven with different places to sit to follow the sunshine. I was out there early every morning with my cup of tea! The house was comfortable with lovely garden views from the windows. The only slight negatives were the weak over-bath shower and some corners could do with a proper deep clean as it’s a (lovely!) old house (also, a couple of baking trays, few larger bowls, a water jug and maybe a small microwave would improve the kitchen). No complaints - I only mention this as it is not a cheap property.
The utility room was great for drying stuff (and there’s a washing line outside). There’s a charcoal BBQ in the garden and lots of herbs growing here and there.
We managed to get a Tesco delivery and also shopped in nearby Modbury where there’s a butcher, deli, cafe/bakery and Co-op.
You can walk to beautiful Wonwell beach in about 30-40 minutes and there was loads of space there (except at high tide) but quite a lot of seaweed, don’t know if we were just unlucky. We found Bigbury-on-sea beach was seaweed-free, good for swimming and we hired paddle boards there too. (Dogs allowed except in the middle section). The Journeys End Inn at Ringmore served us the biggest and best Sunday roast ever and the Oyster Shack was good if you like seafood. Coast paths beautiful and lots of walks nearby.
Great holiday.
Thank you for you review , we are so glad to hear you had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the house and garden.
We apologise about that you found the cleanliness below par, we take this very seriously. We have deep cleaned the house this week. Sorry you found one of the showers a little weak. We are planning to install a new ground floor cloakroom and powerful shower, over the winter ready for next year. Hopefully by then the virus will be behind us and we will be able to fully equip our kitchen as before. We would love to have you stay again soon

"Lovely house with big, spacious rooms."
The kitchen is a cook’s delight with a big range cooker and very well equipped. All the appliances, crockery and equipment are very high standard. The garden was full of autumn colour but I can imagine it would be lovely in the summer for eating out. It is large, secluded and with plenty of seating.

"The access to the lovely beach was great, as was being able to walk to local pub."
The areas nearby are really pretty. .Salt, pepper, a few herbs and some foil would have been nice but the kitchen was well stocked with plates, glasses and had wonderfully sharp knives. The gifts of wine, biscuits and dog treats and tea bags were most welcome. The beds were extremely comfortable but the pillows a little over filled. It is a lovely house with stunning garden and great garden furniture. The road behind the cottage is surprisingly busy for such a tucked away spot.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed the property and the beautiful surrounding area. We have now replenished the salt, pepper and foil. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have been informed that there is a myriad of fresh herbs available in the garden which the owner is happy for guests to help themselves to. The lane is normally very quiet but we believe there was a road closure and detour in the village on the week you stayed .We hope that you will join us again at Lower Great Torr in the near future. "If you want a great place to base yourself to explore the delights of the South Hams then you can't do much better than to stay at Lower Great Torr in Kingston."
Situated right in the centre of some of the most impressive coast line and countryside in South Devon it's a walkers paradise right from the door step. The coastal path walks East to Burgh Island and West to Newton Ferrers are stunning and we enjoyed watching the seals pop up along the shore. It's not surprising that this coast line has been used as a backdrop for so many Agatha Christie and period drama films. With numerous secluded coves in between and sandy beaches close by there are plenty of idyllic spots to take it easy and relax. We really enjoyed paddling across the Erme Estuary at low tide from Wonwell Beach to Mothecome Beach, a really beautiful setting and ideal spot for picnics and warmer weather swimming.
The Farmhouse is really welcoming and comfortable, and benefits from being new to holiday letting. It is clean, fresh, cosy and well equipped. There is plenty of room to spread out and relax with a really efficient wood burner offering winter cheer. The beds are of good size and really comfortable. The WiFi works well for those that need to stay connected.
There are lots of good eating places close by, pubs and shack style fresh fish restaurants. Our favourite pub is the Dolphin, a few minutes walk from the farmhouse in the centre of the village. It is a traditional pub that has stood the test of time offering great honest food at sensible tariffs and good local ales to match.
We look forward to returning sometime soon.
