  • "Lovely setting, great friendly village."

Super pub that serves great food less than 5 mins walk and great little shop and cafe also just a 5 minute walk. Not sure this could be 100% classed as dog friendly. No outdoor space to let dog out for late night or early morning toilet which is needed for a young dog before you start your day or at the end of the day. Had to go quite far to find grass area we were able to take dog on. Details needs to be clear that the only outside space is the small patio at front and parking for one small car, we only just got our 4x4 on the parking area and often held the traffic up getting it on and off drive. Shame the 2 sofas had been replaced with one sofa and an upright chair, if more than 3 of you there was not a lot of seating and the upright chair was uncomfortable after a while. Quirky little cottage with character and uneven floors upstairs, lovely large bathroom with great shower. Loved sitting out on the small balcony, dog tried getting through the railings to the fish so had to put lead on. Great extra having sky on both tv’s so you could enjoy the cottage in the evenings. Dunster beach nearby is great for dogs. Also Dunster castle grounds, enjoyed going to the country fair.

  • "Lovely little cottage with loads of character, nice welcome pack with a cake, bottle of cider etc."

Good point for us was a 60/40 fridge/freezer as many properties only have a fridge with a freezer compartment. Local shop was well stocked with the basics and we used it a few times whilst there - for bigger shops there are various stores in Minehead (approx 10 miles) or Wiiliton (5 miles).

One thing to note, the boiler in the main bedroom is quite noisy as it clanks and bangs unless you switch the heating off overnight.

  • "Having a dog and visiting in winter, an outdoor tap would have been very useful as my dog can get very dirty and although towels were available and I had also brought plenty with us, I was conscience of trying to keep the cottage clean and not messing the bathroom, so I was having to wash her down using the washing up bowl!"

It was well presented and comfortable. Everything you could want from a home away from home. The village shop and pub were welcoming and helpful, a bonus for a small village.

Idillic location and central spot for touring around. We would definitely stay here again! Spotlessly clean and very well equipped!

Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay.Just wanted to advise all previous and future clients that as of today the oven has been replaced and therefore that issue, which we apologise for, has been resolved. Property Owner

  • "The cooker had not been fixed and there was just a note say what the fault was not good enough."

The TV had purple areas in the centre a large on and smaller ones to the left and right. You could watch TV ok and the Sky worked very well. The TV should be replaced. This did not spoil are enjoyment of the cottage. We had a very nice stay.

Thank you for your comments, the issue is with the fan in the oven, the oven works but if the fan feature when switched on it will cut out, we have a new cooker to replace in November but due to peak season this has proved difficult we do apologize for any inconvenience caused and hope to see you again in the near future. • "The cottage is well located for some great walks and to explore the Somerset/Devon coast."

It is cosy for 4 people and has everything you need for a short break. Minor gripes are that the oven seems to be a long standing problem, and the sofas aren’t comfortable at all.

Thank you for your comments, the oven is still working apart from the fan feature but a new oven is being fitted in November and we have now replaced the sofa's in the property, we do apologize for any inconvenience caused and hope to see you again in the near future. Property Owner

  • "Cottage is in a lovely old village, very quiet."

It's very quaint with low ceilings and uneven floors, but nicely furnished and equipped, except for the sofas, they could do with replacing, too low and saggy. The local pub serves decent food although the choice of ales is limited to 2. Best to book your table at the weekend. Lots of off road footpaths for safe walks with the dog. Overall, I'd happily recommend this place for a quiet getaway

  • "This is an absolutely stunning home set in the most beautiful quiet little village."

All you can ever hear is the sound of bird song and the burbling of the stream that runs right at the back of the house. Its simply gorgeous and has everything you could ever wish for or need. The hosts even left us a loaf of bread, 6 eggs, milk and butter along with biscuits with coffee and tea cups set out for our arrival. Each and every room is beautifully decorated. The kitchen has everything you need and is all to hand in a tastefully set out modern yet period style. The living room is amazing with a fabulous ingle nook fireplace. The television is plenty big enough and instantly tunes into Sky tv and the Wi-Fi is brilliant and so fast. There is an array of board games provided too. The dining room is amazing and has a french door/window that opens onto a decking with the stream/river running past and straight below the seating area on the decking. Its a delight to breakfast each morning and enjoy watching the ducks swimming by. The upstairs has two vast bedrooms. The double bed is SO comfortable and has great views of the village. The second bedroom is again huge and contains two single beds with a fabulous view of the stream/river from the window. The bathroom is massive with a wonderful walk in shower that along with the kitchen hosts plenty of really hot water. Did I mention the parking? Well that is so easy and right outside the house and off road. All in all, this property is by far and above the best place my wife and I have ever stayed in, in the whole of the UK! It simply is gorgeous. We would recommend this to everyone, however the staircase could prove a little tricky to those who struggle with stairs..but please dont let this put you off. If you DO opt to stay here, then take a stroll through the gorgeous village. Some of the properties date back to 1700! Everyone we met was so friendly. There is a real pride about the village with every garden in bloom. There is a village hall and green that when we were there hosted a local friendly, neighbour cricket match. Lots of the houses have honesty boxes outside containing fresh eggs and cakes. The old telephone box is now a book swap shop! It really is a sight to see because instead of hosting a telephone, it now has shelves full of used books that you can swap yours for..its amazing! There was only one fault with the home that we could find....that is that we dont own it or live in it!!!

The cottage itself was very comfortable. With parking to the front of the cottage, it couldn't have been more convenient to load/unload the car. We were able to choose a different walk from the cottage each day as there is an abundance of footpaths close by. Every comfort & convenience was to hand and we would definitely recommend this cottage to our friends!

  • "Very nice, clean property, well decorated and very cosy."

We were slightly disappointed that on the property details there was mention of a “log burner” unfortunately there was not an actual log burner but a fire effect heater. This heater was very warm and made the room cosy of an evening. Also, there was mention of a DVD player which we presumed would be in the front room, so we took a few DVD’s to watch. After an extensive search we found out the only DVD player was built into the tv in the bedroom. So in short, the property met all our expectations but we were disappointed it was not as advertised. Many thanks, Rikke.

  • "Couldn't fault this cottage in any way apart from it being a little more isolated than I imagined, just a pub (the valiant soldier) and the village hall in the immediate vicinity, Watchet Harbour more than 4 miles away."

Nonetheless everybody was very friendly and welcoming, especially in the pub, making a fuss of the dog wherever we went. The cottage was clean and cosy with everything you could need for a perfect weekend, Sky sports was an added bonus. Excellent value and we would recommend to anyone looking to get away from the rat race.

Good pub only a very short walk away serving lovely food. The only negative thing I could say is that there are some low ceilings and doorways within the property that meant my 6' 3" husband banged his head a couple of times so a warning for taller people to be aware of.

Comfortable beds and a great shower. Difficult parking (we needed someone to watch for traffic when we reversed out). Very pretty decoration but not ideal for elderly people e.g. really deep steep stairs lacking rails in places, low chairs.
