  • "An absolutely stunning and magical location tucked into a valley."

The burble of the river at the edge of the garden, birdsong- beautiful. Walks straight from the doorstep, perfect. Bedroom and bathroom very comfortable, loved the bath. Only downer was that the kitchen wasn't as clean as it could have been. the kettle and the teapot needed a clean and the taps and fridge door handles were sticky. I note that in other reviews there were no issues with cleanliness so perhaps it just got overlooked. The crockery was quite small and very dark brown- not my preference but that is just as is. Other than those small points it was a magical place to stay.

If you have a bicycle, MTEB, EMTB, GRAVEL, Arlington estate right on the doorstep. And various BEATIFULL coastal locations to visit within 30min drive. What's not to like..... Superb!!!

  • "Lovely comfortable cottage in beautiful surroundings."

Extremely comfortable bed. Welcoming and helpful owners. Garden very dog friendly, and loved the relaxing evenings by the fire, inside and outside. Could have done with a bit more light in the garden, as the outdoor light didn't cover it. Had some great walks in the surrounding areas, and day trips out. Nice, cosy and quiet place to come back to. Thank you.

Thank you , we have now put a new light outside which lights the outside patio, and steps to parking area, and will see what we can do regarding lighting the garden Property Owner

  • "Very peaceful cottage in beautiful setting."

Garden was delightful and bigger than we expected. Cottage was a nice mixture of old and new. Kitchen was very well equipped and bathroom was great. Good to find a place with no extra charge for our dog. There was a tea tray on arrival with portions of UHT milk but a pint of fresh milk would have been helpful, especially as there are no shops nearby. More comprehensive information on the local area would also have been useful. It wasn't a problem for us but the listing needs to be clearer that there are a significant number of steps up from the parking to the back door. It was also a tight squeeze in and out of the steep drive even though our car isn't the biggest.

Thank you for completing your feedback which we have spoken with the owner about. We have now added a sentence to the description to make future guests aware of the 9 steps from the parking bay to the property. Property Owner

  • "We had a nice quiet holiday."

I am elderly and found the steps up to the property needed some assistance . The garden and the cottage were very nice clean and well furnished. The bathroom is flanked by a very nice large bath to soak in. For tranquility and peace an absolutely wonderful spot with its own babbling river.

Thank you for your positive comments, we hope to welcome you again at Primrose Cottage. Property Owner

The property

This pretty detached stone built cottage is tucked peacefully away in an idyllic location on the banks of the river Yeo.

Close to Exmoor National Park, yet a just short drive from the coast, Primrose Cottage is the perfect spot for a peaceful, rural getaway.

Inside, you're welcomed by a warm and friendly ambience.

Split level, head into the open-plan living area which features comfy sofas, an oak raftered ceiling open to the apex and a cosy wood burning stove.

Three steps lead down to the newly fitted kitchen where you'll find and everything you need to prepare delicious meals.

After a long day exploring, you can unwind in the smart shower room where you'll find a decadent freestanding bathtub.

Take a long soak before retiring to the king-size double bedroom which looks over the garden and where you'll hear only the sound of the river flowing nearby.

Outside the garden is simply enchanting, filled with mature fruit trees and bordered by the river, there is no nicer spot to sit and simply listen to the bees and the birds.

If you can tear yourself away, why not visit the nearby National Trust property Arlington Court, a great country house with acres of parkland to meander.

Exmoor National Park offers endless opportunities for walkers, cyclists and wildlife seekers whilst nearby Barnstaple provides plenty of shops, parks and a museum.

Barnstaple is also the first stop on The Tarka Line, famed for its good picturesque views and real ale pubs at most stations.

For beach lovers, you're just 30 minutes away from some of the region’s best beaches such as Croyde and Saunton Sands.

With so much to see and do nearby, Primrose Cottage will provide you with happy memories for years to come.

LOXHORE

Barnstaple 5 miles

A delightfully rural village, nestling amid lush green fields and wooded valleys on the edge of Exmoor. Famous for its country walks, birdlife and natural beauty, the area is perfect for the visitor seeking peace and quiet, but not isolation. Exmoor, with its rolling hills, red deer and stunning scenery, is the major attraction, with the rugged North Devon coast and its resort towns, sandy beaches, excellent surf and the SW Coast path coming a close second. There is much to do and see; the area boasts stately homes and gardens, theme parks for the kids, beautiful fishing villages, the shopping centres of Barnstaple and Bideford and, most importantly, mile upon mile of unspoilt countryside, from high moorland hills to rolling farmland, to the beautiful banks of the rivers Taw and Torridge. The countryside at its best.
