  • "We had a lovely family holiday here."

The living accommodation here was great and practical for our multi generational situation including 2 toddlers and one person with a relatively recent unexpected hip replacement. (If we’d known when I booked that I would have had a fall we wouldn’t have chosen somewhere with so many steps!). All the family loved Lyme Regis and the walk into the town down the hill and along the riverside. The Town Mill and the micro brewery were a great find as was the town with the level walk along the the promenade and the walk along the cob The provision of stair gates for the top and bottom of the stairs would be a welcome addition to the facilities We decided not to bring our dog with us in the end which we decided was a good move as although only a cockatoo she enjoys a good run around in the garden

  • "The position of the property was ideal to be able to park your car on the drive, leave it there and walk into Lyme Regis."

The hills are a little steep coming back but nothing too difficult, especially for the able bodied. The house is lovely and spacious and has everything you need. The welcome hamper was a really nice touch and full of lots of goodies. The views are wonderful from the lounge and smaller double bedroom - lovely to sit in bed and watch the sunrises over the sea. Also from the front, enclosed patio. The only slight negative for us was, we found the garden a little disappointing - it's really only a patio not a tiered garden. Also, the curtains (window and shower) in the bathroom could do with changing as one was mouldy and the other didn't fit the window fully. All in all we had a lovely week here and would definitely come back again. As a little side note for future guests - if anyone struggles with the main steps up to the front door the steps behind the garage are far easier to use (not so steep).

Thank you for your kind comments. We will take a look at the curtains. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "This property has the most stunning view, it's breathtaking, and magical."

The garden isn't very usable, due to being on a steep hill, but it's also really stunning to look at, and our dog loved exploring. We found the house extremely large, the piano and games room were my boys favourites. However, the house is a little cluttered, the bed linen and towels need an upgrade in quality, and the extremely steep steps upto the property would be an issue for most people. This is definitely a home from home, it just needs a touch of modernising.

  • "The property was perfect for our family holiday."

Our 3 year old grandchild loved all the dinosaurs in the garden, and there were plenty of toys in the study, to keep him amused at the start/end of the day. A good selection of games available too. Our only issue, which is probably out of the owners hands, was the lack of recycling facilities. We ended up bringing our bottles home, as it felt criminal to put them in with the general rubbish. We struggled to find a bottle bank in Lyme Regis & didn't want to spend our holiday driving around trying to find one. That aside, we had a fantastic week

Thank you for such lovely feedback. The owners take great pride and care of the property so that guests can have the best holiday experience. The property is on a commercial waste collection scheme, and although all rubbish goes into the one bin, it is sorted at the depot and recycled accordingly. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "We had a great week at this substantial comfortable home."

Lots of space inside and out with lovely views of Lyme Bay. It’s a beautiful 15 minute walk in to Lyme but the walk back is steeply uphill some of the way and is not for the faint hearted. Lyme itself is a pretty town with lots of independent shops. The sea swimming is particularly good. I’ll be back again soon.

Lots of space. Stairs to access the property are steep and not really explained on the listing.

  • "We’ve just got back from a fantastic week in Lyme."

The weather was incredible and as always, carnival week never disappoints. It’s been five years since our last stay at St. George’s hill and despite having been a great base for the week, unfortunately the property did appear to have been slightly neglected since our previous stay with dated/worn decor and furnishings. Both the rear garden and the greenery up the entrance steps were very overgrown. The steps in particular were tricky to climb especially with luggage or beach bags etc as the access was limited by the growth. The rear garden felt very overgrown with even climbing plants growing through an upstairs window. Our only other issue was the state of the beds and the mattresses. The one in particular in the family room, the queen bed mattress was unusable due to being so hard (was an orthopaedic mattress). Our son ended up sleeping on the sofa due to this. Apart from these two issues are stay was thoroughly enjoyed, the lounge in particular works well as a family room with stunning views and lots of space. Cleanliness could be improved by removing all the fake flowers which were covered in dust and cobwebs.

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay although we were sorry that your holiday wasn’t as enjoyable as we would hope. We always update the decoration every year and the property was again assessed to sit very high in the 4 star rating, again with the Gold accolade, in March of this year. The assessor also commented that all the beds have high quality mattresses, although we accept that everyone has different views on what is deemed to be conducive to a good night’s sleep. The garden is not a formal garden but regularly attended to by our gardener who keeps things in good order for us. It was disappointing to read that the shrubs have gotten a little overgrown, but this will be addressed. We are pleased that you had an enjoyable stay overall. Lyme is such a delightful place and the weather has been very kind to visitors staying here this summer. Property Owner

  • "One of the best properties we have stayed in, with everything we needed and plenty of space."

The welcome pack was a lovely touch and it was very helpful to include milk. The view over the bay from the terrace and one of the bedrooms was good and we enjoyed the walk into Lyme beside the River Lim. The only thing that let it down was the complete lack of recycling at the property. Apart from the provision of a compost bin by the owners, EVERYTHING goes into the bin.

  • "Very well equipped comfortable house."

Only entries to house are by very steep steps. Listing should state it is not suitable for disabled. One of our party has difficulty walking and found it difficult.
