  • "Lynton and Lynmouth are beautiful and we really enjoyed exploring the area, there's a lot to do close by and we travelled to Woolacombe and into Cornwall to visit Eden, so had a fun filled week."

The apartment itself was neat and clean and the beds were comfy. If I had any negative comments it would be that there wasn't a lot of hot water and the kitchen is not very well equipped for 6 people. Plenty of plates etc but cooking with only one small frying pan was a challenge. However, this is a minor point as overall it was a lovely apartment and we all had a fabulous time. We'd stay again, I'd just pack my own tongs and large frying pan!

  • "Hello, I'm leaving this feedback after a discussion I had with one of your operators yesterday."

I'd reached back out to the property owner after our holiday due to a handful of issues that we faced during our stay. Issues as states below: - on our first day in the property we had a severe water leak through one of the kitchen lights - we struggled to access the property due to the cheap and almost broken lock box for the key - our hot water was limited and would cut off, and with a property housing maximum of six people, that isn't ideal None of these issues should be expected for any holiday property, especially for the amount of money that was spent on our stay. We contacted the owner hoping to get some money back as compensation. After which we would have been happy to leave a good review to help the owner as she handled the issues well when we initially raised them. However we received a call from operator saying that the owner was refusing to offer any compensation and that she wouldn't be contacting us directly and would only contact us through Sykes. Needless to say, we are disgusted by all of this behaviour and we will be leaving a review to warn any future holiday goers. Regards Thomas

Thank you for your feedback and for the issues you raised. Our responses below: *You contacted to say you'd experienced a problem with the key safe and access to the apartment. Our representative was there within 4 minutes, by which time you'd texted us to say that you'd gained entry. We understand that key safes are not always the easiest to use, and we plan to upgrade with a more user-friendly design. * You informed us on Saturday mid-morning that the shower had leaked. We agreed a time convenient to you for our maintenance engineer to attend. He'd resealed the shower by early afternoon. * You didn't report an issue with the hot water during your stay as we could have remotely adjusted the settings to better suit your needs. As we mention in the welcome email, there is unlimited hot water for the bathroom shower, otherwise it's from an electrically heated hot water tank (overnight and timed top up in the morning and afternoon). * Sykes set the prices based on market rates, and when you book a property through Sykes, the contract and payments are all through Sykes. We and our service team strive for excellence, and we're sorry that you feel unhappy. We're a bit confused as you texted us to say, we enjoyed our stay very much and informed us of a few of your concerns which we had resolved promptly. Regards Samantha Property Owner

  • "The flat was clean, comfortable and well-equipped."

It is ideally situated for a holiday in Lynton close to shops and cafes. We were fully aware before booking that access is via several flights of stairs so it was not a problem, and being on the top floor means that the flat was quiet and airy,a bonus in hot weather. The furniture and beds were of a high standard and the provision of a smart tv was much appreciated. The owner contacted us before the holiday with all the practical details we needed to know. We have been coming to Lynton for holidays since 1972 and have actually stayed in three different properties in Jubilee Court in recent years. The fact that we have already booked 10 Jubilee Court for next year shows that we feel that it is the best place for us currently available in Lynton.

  • "The flat was gorgeous and felt like 'home' straight away to all 5 of us."

The position of the flat was ideal - so peaceful and airy and quiet - yet close to all the amenities of Lynton - the railway to Lynmouth and the walks to viewpoints - this was so important as one of our group has MS but was capable of doing everything we did in relative ease. Everyone we met in the area were very helpful and friendly - even to the point that twice people asked us if we were ok or looking for somewhere in particular - and then gave us helpful information about other things in the area as well. It was a truly restorative oasis in time for 5 stressed but now healed women!

Just as described on the advert. Lynton it self was very quite and the shop close if not busy. we found it very hard to get something to eat on the first night as everyone had closed at 9pm but well worth a visit as the lynton and lydmouth as it was stunning. But be prepared to walk miles up and down steep hill so walking boots are a must.

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the apartment was very well equipped."

I think there should have been slightly more emphasis on the fact that it was a top floor apartment rather than a cottage. lots of stairs to carry luggage up and down which didn't put us off, but it would have helped if we had known in advance.

  • "Great property in a central location."

The apartment is on the top (2nd) floor which may make it unsuitable for some. The apartment was very comfortable and perfect for two couples, one with a small baby. There was some big cobwebs in the master bedroom which had been missed but otherwise the property was perfect for our week in Lynton.

  • "Carrying our luggage up to second floor was worth the climb for this lovely modern apartment."

The furniture was quality and the beds comfortable with lovely soft bed linen. There was plenty of hot water and it felt like home from home. It was well equipped with most things we needed, the only things that we would have found useful was some foil and a washing tablet for the machine. The Internet was fine for surfing, however we tried to watch live TV and the picture did break up at times.

  • "This apartment, spread over the second and third floors of a renovated historic building, is modern, spacious, comfortable, and well appointed."

All the furniture and fittings are of a very high standard. We particularly liked the dining set, ceiling lights, upstairs shower, and granite-effect floors in both bathrooms. Although the flat can sleep six in three bedrooms, there were just two of us – my wife and I – and we still found the apartment reasonably priced and good value for money. Its location is ideal: in a quiet side street yet only three minutes' walk from the centre. It's also in the same street as the drop-in medical centre. It should be noted that, as there is no lift and the stairs are fairly steep, the flat is not suitable for the disabled or infirm. It was useful to have a dedicated parking space, as parking in Lynton is a problem. Our car did not move during the four-day break as Watersmeet, Lynmouth, the Valley of Rocks, and Hollerday Hill are all accessible on foot or via the wonderful, water-powered lift. The hilly little town is a pleasure to walk around with quirky, quality independent stores, loads of restaurants and tea shops, and very little tat. The views in all directions are outstanding. Lynmouth beach is rocky, but there is good swimming – at high tide only – from the shingly east beach. It's a five-minute walk after you cross the white bridge. There are just a couple of quibbles. We slept upstairs, but at 6' 3" I couldn't stand at the loo because of the sloping roof. (Downstairs loo is OK.) More annoying was trying to lock the door on leaving the flat. The lock is fiddly and temperamental – sometimes works first go, sometimes at the tenth attempt. (If it were my flat, I'd change it.) Overall, however, we had a highly enjoyable stay here. We can strongly recommend it and will certainly consider staying here again.

  • "A wonderful few days, far too short, in a lovely apartment."

It had everything we needed and more - fresh milk in the fridge and a cake on the table when we arrived, warm as toast, lashings of hot water for baths after long walks, soft sheets, fluffy pillows and duvets, all sorts of cooking implements we didn't use, freezer, iron, washing machine - nothing was left to chance. The arrival instructions were excellent, the key easy to find and the apartment perfectly located a few streets from the centre of Lynton, almost opposite the Town Hall and the UK's 5th best independent cinema (go there if you can - great fun - 60 or so seats - all the latest films). We thought that everything would be closed out of season - we were wrong - life goes in in Lynton and very lovely it is too. As we travelled by train and bus, we explored the town, Lynmouth and the immediate area on foot - quite fabulous walking country, some terrifying cliff drops, other exhilarating coastal walks. The climb back up from Lynmouth nearly did for us though - it is steep! and the railway was closed for repair. People were very friendly - we had Sunday lunch in The Crown - lots of local residents there and all very welcoming. Nice pub - old fashioned with roaring fires and cosy seats. We also ate in The Nook - nice food and delightful waitress who had been spending the day repairing the stone walls of the zig zag path to Lynmouth. We used the local shops - two supermarkets and a deli - for everything we needed. Plus coffee, cakes, ice cream... in the town cafes. Jubilee Court was an ideal base for us - we will be back. And soon. Thank you to the owners - the best, most relaxed holiday I've ever had.

With off road parking and a short stroll from village shops and pubs, this well-situated flat provides a very convenient base for exploring the coast and Exmoor National Park.
