  • "This is a terrific house."

So much space! We stayed for a week, two families of four, and it wasn't cramped at all. We had a floor each, both floors had 2 rooms and a bathroom so we were able to have our privacy at night and when showering etc... Yet at meal times, eight of us were able to sit comfortably round the table together, and the same went for the lounge where we were all able to comfortably watch a movie on the two large sofas. There is a contained garden front and rear, and both our dogs were able to run around safely, plus some really nice outdoor seating areas (3), and a really great barbeque rig. When it's warmer in the evenings it will be perfect. The pictures on the web site do a good job of showing the houses assets... There were only a couple of tiny points like the hot tap in the kitchen sink not working properly, and it's not always possible to park in front of the property, but none of these points spoiled our week in Exmouth at all. Great WiFi speed btw, very useful as my network (EE) didn't have the best coverage down there, although it didn't quite reach all of the house. Both ends of Exmouths lovely long (must be 1.5-2 km) beach (the dog friendly ends), and also the town centre are all within a 10-15 min walk, and a tesco (with filling station) and Lidl are a 2 min drive away. We found some very nice restaurants (tandoori nights, and the Grapevine both excellent), brilliant fish and chips which we had after a walk up the side of the river to Lymingstone, and also Dominos deliver directly to the house for those lazy evenings after a full day paddle boarding or kayaking. If the weather isn't so good (we had one day of poorer weather) there is a complex at the bottom of Salterton road with 10 pin bowling, which also has a bar and does nice food. We have had a cracking week, and always had options to keep the kids buzzing. The owner have us clear instructions over checking in, and made to nice recommendations (the cafe on the river Exe is a must)... I would highly recommend this property... Perfect for families with kids and dogs, for sure we will be back. 10/10.

  • "We had a wonderful time seeing in the new year with family."

It was the perfect venue, full of character and shabby chic charm. We had space to all to gather round the kitchen table and in the lounge with log fire and candlelight. Exmouth town is lovely with good facilities. A welcome bottle of Prosecco, on arrival, was a nice touch.

  • "No bin liners provided at all."

There are no instructions for the kitchen range, the child lock was on and we couldn’t use it. The caretaker sent a pdf of instructions and we removed child lock but the ovens still didn’t work. We had to adjust our menu plans accordingly. He promised someone would deliver bin liners and dishwasher tablets (just an empty box under sink) but this didn’t happen. Small niggles but time consuming to try to resolve and enough to impact enjoyment of the holiday.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are pleased to report that the oven is working: the time just needed resetting. The manual is now included in the welcome book. The cleaner did mention that they located a supply of bin liners at the property. As a self catering property a starter amount of dishwasher tablets might be provided but the expectation is that guests should purchase their own supplies thereafter. Property Owner

  • "Road was busier than expected, and noisy."

..window in master bedroom isn't fitted correctly so doesn't seal, consequently was noisy. Little evidence of Covid deep cleaning ..we found a mouldy bread roll in the breadbin on arrival and several glasses and items of crockery and cutlery weren't properly cleaned. Simarly the previous occupier hadn't cleaned the BBQ rack. All this added up to a poor first impression and not what we expected having paid such a premium price.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. The owner has confirmed that the master bedroom window has been attended to and your review has been discussed with the cleaners. The BBQ should be checked on each changeover but guests are also encouraged to clean the BBQ should they make use of this during their stay. We would have been happy to help address these concerns had you contacted us during your holiday. Property Owner

  • "Lovely spacious house as described, in a great location to town and beach so didn't need to use car every day."

Good on-street parking. Only niggle is that the kitchen equipment could do with a good sort out as too cluttered and alot of items duplicated, not enoughof others and some items broken or unuseable. Would recommend 31 Salterton Road, we had a great time. Thank you.

  • "Beautiful home simply decorated but a lovely seaside holiday home feel."

Very well equipped kitchen . Lots space . Great garden saw hedgehog! Perfect place, garden/house for dog, & lots beach friendly places. Lots local walks by sea or beach or river. Did some mackerel fishing. Location great, no need to move car, near town and beach if you enjoy walking. Takes 10-15 mins. Owner very helpful via email. Stayed here with my grown up family, 8 of us, & had plenty of space showers etc . Lovely place would go again. Thank you Sykes... we should have gone to Wales but the house we initially organised fell through, but you managed to find an alternative even though it was BH weekend! Only drawback ... M5!!! But Devon was lovely when we got there!

  • "No large drinking glasses."

The oven instructions were for a different oven.

Thank you very much for your feedback, we were really pleased to read you enjoyed your stay. We'd like to let you know that following your comments the owners have purchased some large drinking glasses. They have also confirmed that instructions for the oven have been added to the welcome folder! We look forward to seeing you again soon! Property Owner

  • "The house is well placed for walking access to town and the beach although it is a bit of an incline on the way back."

There is also a bus stop opposite with service to the town every 15 minutes. The house is lovely and full of character with a nice enclosed garden - the steps from the house to the garden are a bit steep but the garden can be accessed from the front of the house. We took a party of 8 including four teenagers and the house was easily big enough for it not to feel claustrophobic. The location of the house to both the town and the beach allowed the young adults some independence without needing to be ferried about - resulting in a very relaxing break for everyone.

  • "This is a large house with plenty of character, ideal for an extended family holiday."

I booked this for a week for 6 adults and one 4-year old. There is a large kitchen and living room for family get-togethers and plenty of bathroom facilities. The garden at the back provides lovely sitting areas for evening drinks before a family meal. The wonderful sandy beach is within a reasonable walking distance from the house and interesting places to visit (e.g. Dartmoor, Lyme Regis) are only an hour away by car.

  • "We had a great family holiday in Salterton Road, Exmouth."

The house suited our family perfectly. We enjoyed the house itself, the garden, the lovely seaside location and the beautiful surrounding area. As well as Exmouth we visited A La Ronde, Otterton Mill, Budleigh Salterton, Topsham, Shaldon and Exeter. We walked a good deal and relaxed a lot. The weather was kind and clement and we all had a very good and restful holiday. Phil and Sue (owners) communicated very well with us. Thank you.

Well equipped, clean and comfortable. Might be useful to know that house is situated on a busy road which can be quite noisy. Not a real problem but worth mentioning.

  • "Great house for 6 adults and children."

Lots of room in the hallway to put buggies and car seats . Very spacious house with all the things you need and close to the beach. My only suggestion would be some new mattress’s as most of them were very soft . We would most definitely book again .
