  • "This is our 3rd stay at 49 cumber close ."

Happy with the property however the memory foam mattress is incredibly uncomfortable , sadly it exacerbated by cervical and thoracic spine pain and I consequently slept badly the whole week . I don't think a memory foam mattress is the best option for a holiday let

Our daughter has settled in Malborough so this accommodation is perfect for us when we visit her as it`s just up the road from where she lives. the bungalow is very like home from home.

  • "Lovely stay, perfect weather!"

I noted other comments and would agree - memory foam isn't ideal, could probably do with new pillows, shame there's no view at the back and the leak from the shower. However, none of that stopped us from having a great time and we're very likely to visit again as our daughter has moved to the village!

Thanks for your comments which are noted. The problem with the shower screen leak is known and on the work-list for winter maintenance. Will look at the other points though can’t do anything go about the view at the back. Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed our stay at 49 Cumber Close."

Very quiet residential area and a good base for walking and access to the coast without the higher costs of staying in Salcombe. A couple of pubs in Malborough and we chose The Old Inn to eat one night, which was OK. Well equipped property with everything we needed. Nice private seating area back and front to relax at the end of the day in the sun (we were very lucky with the weather!). Not so keen on the memory foam mattress and very soft pillows but that's personal choice. Being picky, a few pieces of kitchen equipment had not been cleaned very well and the cooker hood required a clean, as previously mentioned the shower leaked onto the floor under the screen. All in all though, a good choice of accommodation at a good price.

  • "Cottage is well maintained in terms of cleanliness."

The mattresses are rather hard in both the bunk beds and master room. The bathroom is very wet after a shower as the water does seep through the panel. We only get to use the Tv to watch the cds as they weren’t much to watch on the local channels. I like the setting of the area - very relaxing and quiet and there is a laundry line to hang our clothes. There are lots of books and games provided to fill up your time .

  • "Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday!"

The house is lovely and you thought of everything that we could possibly need, especially as I had forgotten my phone charger! A really great location as it was so close to fabulous coves and Salcombe. It is a very quiet and tranquil house and we felt very safe. We loved it!

  • "The property was ideal for our needs."

Its very well equipped, everything works, the furniture and beds are comfortable. The TV is a bit small, but, that's just a minor detail. The location is great for touring, although there's not much in the local area at night. There's a brilliant Co op within walking distance, that stocks everything you need.

  • "What a lovely holiday home!"

I was very impressed with the extra facilities that the house offered, including DVDs, games, books, buckets and spades, beach mats - I really had not expected to have these provided, so thank you for going that extra mile. With that in mind, the only thing I found to be missing (and this is only being very picky) was a washing basket: I'd washed the clothes but had no basket to carry the wet washing outside in. We loved the local area too and hope to return again one day.

  • "The property was just what we wanted."

It was very well appointed and very comfortable. The only issue we had was that the central heating stopped working and we were unable to contact anyone (or at least get a response) for a day or so. This meant that we were quite chilly in the evenings as it coincided with a downturn in the weather. Once we found a real person at the end of the phone the problem was sorted very quickly. With other Sykes properties we have always had a contact number for the owners but because this was part of Coast & Country Cottages the system was different. Being a Bank Holiday weekend didn't help either. Having said all that - we had a lovely week once we had warmed up. Thank you

Handy for bus route to both Salcombe and Kingsbridge. Fantastic royres for walking into Salcombe and surrounding area. Well-stocked Co-op within walking distance. We wouldn't hesitate to book again. A few minor niggles but nothing to moan about really.

Great to have a designated parking space. Will be perfect when both children can use the bunk beds, had to squeeze youngest and cot into master bed, but still worked. Great access to the park, and local shop by foot.

  • "Cumber close was okay."

I would say no more than a solid okay. In terms of the size, position, facilities and furniture it was as we had expected it to be, so good from that point of view. However to describe it on the website as "immaculate" was going too far. I think you should describe it as "comfortable and well appointed". The kitchen was well appointed in terms of equipment etc - much better than much smart/posher places we have stayed in. However, whilst is was adequately clean; certainly the bathroom and kitchen were clean and the floors were hoovered; there was way too much dust and far too many cobwebs for it to be described as "immaculate". In some places it was a bit tired looking (shower/bath). We used the hoover to get rid of the cobwebs in the corners of the bathroom, kitchen and both bedrooms - it had clearly not had a "proper" clean (corners/under beds etc) for some weeks. It was NOT dirty, just dusty (all the nick nacks on display etc were dusty as was the fireplace) and very cobweb-y. We have stayed in a good many holiday homes and we normally go for 4 or 5 star and use Helpful Holidays and Toad Hall cottages because the cleanliness IS immaculate. They had nothing to offer in Salcombe for this particular week and of course we were booking at very short notice so we decided to try your company. I think if you rent out a house and you want to market it as immaculate then you HAVE to pull out all the furniture, give it all a good old dust everywhere including the nooks and crannies and also do the ceilings for cobwebs ...on a weekly basis! Anyway - the place WAS comfy, good facilities, good supply of information which we found useful - thank you - and good position for the money. We would probably try Coast and Country again, but if the next one is dusty or cobweb-y then we would feel once bitten twice shy.

  • "The property was nice and had everything that we needed."

My only disappointment was that it wasn't nearly as clean as I would have liked. There was a lot of dirt and hair under the chairs that had the leg rest and this was clearly visible when using them.
