  • "Beautiful cosy cottage in a delightful little village."

Comfortable, warm and peaceful you couldn’t ask for more. The cottage is really well equipped with everything you need and I would like to thank Jen for the lovely cakes and teabags/milk/sugar on arrival - this was a lovely touch. The beds are really comfy as are the sofa and chairs. Lovely big kitchen and bathroom. We went for walks around the village and the Bullers Arms is just five or so minutes walk away as is the lovely village shop where you can get almost everything and the prices are really good. The home made pies/ hog rolls/sausage rolls are absolutely gorgeous ( We even brought some home to freeze). Bude itself is a short drive away where there are lovely beaches and things to do for the kids like Crazy Golf. If you’re a fan on boot sales there’s a really good one on Sundays at Stratton ( just minutes away). I would definitely recommend this cottage for couples and families ( Plenty of toys/books available). Thank you Jen for a lovely stay and we hope to see you again soon.

Thankyou for your kind feedback and I would be delighted to welcome you back to teacosy cottage. Property Owner

The cottage is full of character, has everything you could need and makes a great base for exploring the beautiful area around Marhamchurch. Jen was an excellent host; she met us at the property and made sure we had everything we needed on the day we arrived and then popped by mid-week for a quick courtesy call to check we were ok. We wouldn't hesitate in returning for another stay :)

Well appointed kitchen and cosy sitting room with wood-burning stove. Plenty of sleeping space upstairs, and the master bedroom is very comfortable. Separate toilet and bathroom is convenient. Very quiet! The village is a short walk. The village shop is well stocked with a nice selection of locally baked goods. Friendly pub with food vans on Wednesday through Sunday. Convenient for Bude and North Cornwall.

The owner was there to meet us with the key and kindly allowed us to remain longer in the cottage than was advertised, which helped enormously. Our only negative, and this was minor was that one of the double beds needed the mattress changing. But well worth staying in this beautiful cottage.

  • "We had a very enjoyable week in the Tea Cosy."

The cottage is quirky but comfortable. The owner is extremely pleasant and welcomed us warmly but not at all intrusive. The front garden is a real bonus a true sun trap. My only concern would have been size if we had been 4 adults I believe it would have been cramped, for 2 it was fine. It was a good centre for walking and visiting.

We were welcomed by Jen when we arrived who showed us in and where to park. She had also provided the basics like tea, coffee and milk plus some cakes, biscuits and wine as a welcome gift which was lovely! The cottage had 3 big bedrooms and a little playroom which was great so we all had plenty of space and it was only a short drive into Bude town centre and other attractions. It is ideal for a family stay near bude and to explore the area!

Central to everything and a nice village pub and local shop. The cottage was very clean and very comfortable, the owner Mrs Crigg made us feel really welcome, the tea and cakes she left for us on arrival was a lovely touch. She also checked in on us mid week to ensure we were comfortable and that everything was OK. I have seen some reviews on here about the cottage that were not very nice, which I don't understand. All I can say is that we loved our stay here and would definitely come back next year. Thanks Mrs Crigg.

  • "Sykes are GREAT, we've used you for many years."

This was the first poor property we've stayed in. It was dusty - cobweb dusty. Given that (a) Covid means we're all super vigilant about cleanliness and (b) presumably there's been a period of non-bookings during lockdown, someone could really have come in and cleaned. The kitchen was really poorly stocked. The owners appear to have never tried to cook a meal in it. You need wooden spoons and tumblers, not trifle dishes and sherry glasses. The kitchen looks like it's been assembled with odds and ends. There is barely any storage space in cupboards so you had to use the worktop, which meant there was limited space to then prepare meals. I have no idea how you're meant to fit 6 people around the tiny table in the kitchen. The decor is extremely dated, and dilapidated. It looks like no-one's decorated since the eighties. Some doors were inexplicably locked. There was a note on one door (downstairs, at the back) saying something about fire escapes but it was also locked. Each bedroom had its own sink (again, from the eighties), which weren't visible in any photos. I didn't trust how long it'd been since they were last used. The bathroom was OK but the separate toilet was also tatty (peeling wallpaper) and had a weird tiny sink on the cistern, which is essentially unusable. This could be a really lovely house, but someone really needs to invest in a painter and decorator, new carpets and furniture, a new kitchen and contents.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at Tea Cosy Cottage. We are sorry to hear that you found the property unclean, if you had made us aware of this we would have been able to resolve these issues for you. Although we do not leave wooden spoons in the property, there are plenty of other utensils in the property, however, if you had contacted us about this we would of happily supplied a wooden spoon. This property is only listed as a sleeps 4, although it does have an additional double bedroom. We are sorry to hear that the style of the property wasn't to your taste, the pictures on our website are a true reflection of the property. We hope you still enjoyed your stay with us. It is in a lovely, tranquil village and Mrs Griggs (the owner) gave us a very warm welcome and is on hand if you have any queries or questions - without invading your privacy. The cottage is comfortable with plenty of hot water, washing machine, dishwasher and all the amenities you could need. The outside area is lovely to sit out in and watch the world go by. There is a nice pub in the village with a pool table (teenagers!) and throughout the week there are various food wagons that park up. The community run village shop is worth supporting too with fresh bread, cakes etc.
