“We enjoyed our stay at the cottage - all rooms were comfortable and of good size.”

The location is fantastic, with many walk options on the door-step.

The location is fantastic, with many walk options on the door-step. A few minor points to mention: we didn't find the Information folder until the last day as it wasn't in an obvious place, would have been better on the bookshelf. The kitchen lacked a few essential items such as tea-towels, a proper scourer for washing up, and some cling-film and foil would have been useful. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

The property

Rockham Bay View is a superb cottage in the pretty village of Mortehoe, on the North Devon coast.

The cottage sits directly opposite the South West Costal paths and is within easy reach of numerous coves and beaches, including Woolacombe’s three miles of golden sand, Croyde and Saunton.

With the quaint village stores, pubs, play area and Rockham Bay beach just a short stroll away, this is the ideal base for a relaxing break by the sea for families or groups of friends.

The property, which has views of the countryside and sea, is beautifully decorated throughout with a subtle coastal theme and rustic furniture.

Accessed via a number of external steps, this charming cottage has an open-plan layout with a spacious sitting room.

The cottage is well equipped for BBQ’s on the terrace or quiet evenings by the wood burning stove, watching the smart TV.

The contemporary kitchen area is thoughtfully equipped with everything from a mussel pot, children’s cutlery and crockery to a Nespresso machine, alongside all the essentials you’d expect.

It’s perfectly set up for your time by the sea.

Enjoy your meals at the large dining table before relaxing in the stylish lounge area with wooden flooring, Chesterfield sofas, a smart TV, DVD, Bluetooth speaker point and plenty of books, DVDs and magazines.

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms; two doubles, one with a small en-suite shower room and one twin.

The bedrooms have a range of modern furnishings, and the fresh white linen complements the light décor.

There is an abundance of space to store your personal items.

The family bathroom offers a bath and powerful shower over.

Relax and have a luxurious soak in the tub and a good book to wash off the tiring events of the day.

Externally, the rear of the property has access to a peaceful, secluded patio area with a table and chairs.

Enjoy BBQs and lunches on the picnic table to the front of the property – this is also a lovely spot to enjoy the evening sun as it sets over the sea.

This cottage is situated on the North Devon Coast, which has been named an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, providing scenic walking opportunities, plenty of places for surfing and sandy beaches to visit for family days out.

Mortehoe can trace its origins back to the Doomsday book and beyond.

The rugged coastline around the village has a long history of smuggling and shipwrecks providing an enticing backstory to ponder on your rambles.

Children will also love finding the remains of a Shipwreck at low tide on Rockham beach. Within driving distance Marwood Gardens, Combe Martin Wildlife Park and Exmoor National Park are all well worth a visit.
