  • "We enjoyed our stay at elm cottage because of the location of the cottage, only ..."

We enjoyed our stay at elm cottage because of the location of the cottage, only steps away from the town with its shops, bars & restaurants & that it was clean and pet friendly, also the bus station was only 5 minutes walk away which enabled us to travel around Devon The cottage had everything in it that you would need at home we enjoyed our stay & would recommend this cottage

  • "Elm cottage was a cute little base for a week in Devon with our two children and our little dog."

Very well situated for the various days out that we enjoyed while we were there. Elm Cottage is functional, clean and bigger than it looks in the pictures. Parking is not an issue if you’re on top of it. Newton Abbot has lots of restaurants, pubs, shops and coffee shops. The Asda near by was extremely handy as well. Nice to go out in the evening and not need the car. We had a lovely week away.

  • "Lovely break in an extended two up two down cottage."

..so felt authentic. Well laid outwith all the WiFi and everything. Kitchen had all we needed. Clean throughout ...lovely in these times. Easy walk into town as its very close...but reassuringly no noticeable issues or noise impacts. Car parking at end of road by river is perfect to unload...only the four doors away from cottage so easy to manage. Longer term parking in car park is just round the corner and easy for the week. Great base for the week.

  • "Lovely cottage perfectly situated just 5 minute walk from the town centre which has everything that you might need ."

There are also large superm areas, Asda etc. not far away. The location is perfect for trips out to Teignmouth, Babbacombe, Brixham Totnes etc. We will not hesitate to return

  • "With regards to my Stay at Elm Cottage."

I have always booked with Sykes and have been very happy, but this cottage was not up to the usual standard. To me they did not seem like a cottage just two rows of houses with a back entrance that looked like dustbin alley. The parking or lack of it was terrible. When I first booked last year it stated allocated parking this was not the case. I was given four permits by owner and had to pay for the other three days which is well out of order. With regards to the cottage I was not very happy having to go through the kitchen to the bathroom which is not very hygienic. I found the owner very unresponsive, also it would have been helpful to have a welcome folder with places of interest in and good restaurants etc

  • "The house was nice and well equipped."

It would have been helpful to have had an information folder detailing local amenities and recommendations where to go etc. There is no free parking between 9am and 5pm

  • "We had a good stay, the property was comfortable and the owner was responsive whenever we had a question."

The roadside parking available at the property was so limited and it’s a small residential street, so 3 out of 5 days we parked at a pay and display public car park. This was difficult for us when packing, unpacking and we have a newborn. Overall a good stay but shame about the parking.

  • "This is a lovely property located on the door step of Newton Abbott Town centre so everything is within walking distance."

Property was clean and well maintained. The boiler broke down on our holiday which was fixed within a couple of hours of reporting the problem to the landlord, so excellent service was provided. I would recommend taking some kitchen tongs with you for cooking but all other utensils were provided. This is an excellent base to explore the coast and we had a lovely time on our holiday.

  • "It wasn't exactly as advertised."

No bin in the kitchen except for food bin Location not very good Sykes didn't advertise the check in and check out times correctly and also the parking information, when disputed it, they didn't handle it well and refused to compensate. Skykes customer service is appalling. They take at least 55 minutes to answer the phone every time.
