  • "Everyone very friendly and helpful."

The Hayloft was very comfortable with a great view.

  • "We were very happy with our stay at Hayloft."

Large, bright, airy open-plan room. Two bedrooms, both ensuite. Well-equipped kitchen area. Welcome bottle of wine with flowers and coffee machine capsules. Tremendous view from the Juliet balcony. Quiet and peaceful location. The housekeeper, Lisa, went out of her way to get help when we had a problem with the wi-fi connection. Unfortunately the Talaton Arms's kitchen was closed for holidays so we were unable to eat there. The village shop is a very short walk away.

  • "A brilliant property in a fantastic location."

The Hayloft was so peaceful and tranquil. Lovely gardens to sit in and a 'top' pub just 2 minutes away. Could not want anything better. Would definitely recommend the Hayloft to friends and family. Thank you!

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Hayloft."

The cottage is lovely. It is in peaceful surroundings and is the perfect base for exploring the south coast of Devon and Dorset. We were welcomed by beautiful flowers from Diana’s garden and some treats too. Diana is friendly and helpful, even lending us a map to avoid some of the narrower lanes the sat nav wanted to take us down! This cottage is beautifully and stylishly furnished and we were very comfortable. It was easy to relax there. The details about the cottage on the website are completely accurate. It is maintained to a high standard, very clean with crisp white bed linen. The beds are very comfortable. We were there during the extreme heat and there was a fan in each bedroom with a super fan in the living area. This cottage does not have its own garden but we used an area of lawn in the large grounds of the big house. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need. We liked to cook our own meals most evenings. The fridge is under the counter, it is small so do not do an enormous grocery shop before you arrive! We did frequent visits to pick up fresh provisions from the local Sainsburys in Ottery St Mary. Diana also gave us recommendations of places to eat out which was helpful. Do visit the Otter Valley Ice Cream Field Kitchen. We had lovely outings to Charmouth and Lyme Regis amongst others. Would definitely return to this cottage.

  • "Great apartment with a fantastic view from window."

Everything needed was supplied. The Bed and bedding were top notch. If you did not want to go far for food and are worried about drinking too much, there is a very good pub at the bottom of the drive ... what more could you want. The welcome flowers and booze were much appreciated. Very close to many beaches. We particularly liked Exmouth - a must visit with a lovely beach and a very charming, small town centre surrounding the war memorial in centre and small cafes restaurants dotted around. Walking from the Centre you pass through botanical gardens which lead to the sea. Fantastic.

There was no road noise to spoil the peace and quiet and Diana was friendly and helpful, and quick to respond to our enquiries.

  • "A beautifully appointed barn conversation set in a quiet and green location providing a relaxing base for our week away."

Lovely local walks with a friendly village pub. Note: Description highlights 4 person accommodation (we were a group of 4 adults). Twin bedroom has small size singles more suited to children, ie family group.

  • "The Hayloft at Talaton is a beautifully designed apartment, very comfortable and with attention to detail."

We had everything we needed for our stay. Very relaxing, and we were always pleased to come back to it after a day out exploring. The Hayloft is surrounded by beautiful grounds and all in all it was pleasure to be there.

  • "We stayed nearly three weeks and were very pleased with this accommodation."

We appreciated the quality of all the fixtures, fittings and kitchen equipment. The design of Hayloft had been very well thought through by Diana and her team and it really exceeded our expectations. The experience was made all the better by the “little touches” left on the table for us when we arrived! The location of Talaton is very rural and there are some quirky Devon lanes to negotiate .....but once you get used to them it just fine and well worth it to arrive at such a peaceful destination. There is even a village pub and a village shop. We have no hesitation in recommending The Hayloft.

  • "Beautiful property set in stunning grounds."

Very relaxing and quiet place to stay and with easy trips to the coast as long as you don't mind the narrow lanes! Local pub just at the bottom of the drive and was very friendly with good food. The property looks as good as it does in the photo and the grounds around it are beautiful and well kept. Would happily recommend this property and hope to return one day.

  • "The sofa was uncomfortable and needed cleaning."

Thank you for taking the time to respond to our feedback request. Furniture comfort is often quite a subjective issue (what’s comfortable for one person may not necessarily be so for the next!) we shall keep a close eye on future guests use of the sofa and any further comments relating to its comfort. Other than your points raised we are happy that you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

Talaton House Cottages

In the heart of Talaton is striking Grade II listed Talaton House, a former rectory, renovated from its 18th century origins and surrounded by acres of beautiful parkland and specimen trees. Beside the house, the original stables, Groom's Cottage (975996) and Hayloft (975999) have been finely converted with flair into four excellent cottages, all exceptionally well done with smart design, stylish furnishings, oak/tiled floors and sleek kitchens. A sweeping drive (shared with the friendly owners & main house) leads to the cottages. They all look over scenic parkland alongside the main house and you are welcome to wander the vast lower lawns (picnic benches, barbecue area, dogs on leads welcome) and peaceful circular woodland walk. Groom's Cottage (975996), Gardener's Cottage (975997) and Barley House (975998) each have a gravelled terrace (table/seating) at the front, made private with attractive planting and pleached trees. Loading/unloading outside the cottages; shared parking area, just beyond (10 to 30 yards). An outstanding location; much thought has gone into making these superb places individual, stylish and comfortable.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.
