“Hound Tor is a beautiful lodge set in the extensive grounds of Bovey Castle.”
The lodge is really spacious with very large bedrooms all with ensuite facilities plus a further cloakroom. The stair gates provided made the lodge very safe for my 15 month old granddaughter. We held the ferrets, fed the chickens and watched the amazing bird of prey displays (even held inside the hotel on wet days). Nearby Chagford is a lovely village with independent shops, cafes and pubs plus an amazing 'hardware' store. Castle Drogo is well worth a visit too. Both places are within 10 minutes of Bovey Castle. The booking process and communication was very good. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. I would point out that the external access for Hound Tor is via steps, albeit very shallow, but we managed them with the pushchair. Our party of three couples all agreed that we will be booking again next year to visit Bovey Castle.
