"Comfortable, well-equipped, great location."
"What a beautifully situated cottage."
Andrew & Lyn made us very welcome and have equipped the cottage with every home comfort. Their home is next door and they're very approachable with any questions. Jackdaws is surrounded by countryside with beautiful views from 3 aspects, and there's a lovely outdoor seating area. We enjoyed watching the sheep in the surrounding fields, playing in the games barn, and playing with their 2 lovely labradors too. It's only 30 minutes from Dartmoor, and around an hour to the north or west coasts. Be warned…there are lots of narrow Devon country roads to navigate which were overgrown in some places, so if your car's paintwork is precious to you, you might prefer a property in a town. We however enjoyed the total peace & quiet of Jackdaws…and there's even an owl who twit twoos when night falls. A beautiful country cottage. Highly recommend.
"Beautiful house in lovely surroundings."
Exceptionally well-equipped kitchen. It was nice that the owners were nearby but very unobtrusive. Games room was a super hit. Would definitely recommend.
"The lane to the cottage is very narrow."
Not a problem to us as we are used to it. However the hedges had not been cut back so after rain the car is hitting lots of grass etc
"Jackdaws Cottage was in the most beautiful location."
The cottage was extremely well appointed and very clean with excellent facilities. The owners Lyn & Andrew were very friendly and welcoming and happy to accommodate us all including a dog and 3 month old baby. We all felt that the cottage was actually much nicer than the photographs had indicated. We would definitely visit again and recommend to friends and family.
"Whilst the weather was a challenge during our week's stay our accommodation in Jackdaw Cottage served us well."
Very comfortable, in a beautiful tranquil setting, with just the sound of birds & sheep. Good to be able to walk from the door, across the fields, to exercise our dog too.
"Cottage was lovely, very clean and everything you would expect."
Home from home. Andrew and lyn make you feel very welcome. Can't wait to return.
"We had a fantastic stay at jackdaws cottage."
Very clean and tidy and the children loved the games room. It's very quiet and peaceful. Would love to stay again. The views from our bedroom window were beautiful. Lyn and Andrew were lovely very friendly.
"A wonderful and peaceful holiday cottage in beautiful surroundings."
This is a lovely setting with stunning countryside around you. We had an amazing time, highly recommended.
"Jackdaws is a beautifully converted barn with fantastic views over the Devon countryside, and we have never experienced such peace and quiet before."
The good sized accommodation is very well laid out and comfortable and the area is within relatively easy reach of both Dartmoor and Exmoor and the North and South coasts of Devon.
"Great location and views."
So peaceful with fields all around
"A wonderful cottage set amongst the beautiful Devon countryside, with fabulous views."
Very quiet and relaxing with complete privacy; just the sound of lambs bleating and bees buzzing. The cottage was exceptionally clean and well appointed. Would not have any hesitation in recommending and hope to return soon.

"Everything, couldn't have asked for anything more!"
"One of the best cottages we’ve stayed at - have been having cottage holidays for 35+ years."
"Lyn and Andrew the owners of the cottage were most welcoming."
The cottage was in a beautiful setting and had everything needed for our holiday, the beds were very comfortable and it was ideally placed to visit lots of local attractions and within easy reach of Dartmoor and other lovely places to walk. We hope to visit again in the future
"Owners were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure a really good holiday."
"Maybe some additional for outside seating ?"
"The location was stunning - the views were breathtaking."
There was also such silence - no cars or traffic. Just the sounds of the sheep, cattle and sometimes geese and of course the birdsong. Perfectly located to reach both the North and South coast fairly easily it was also a great base for exploring as well as for long lazy days completing their many jigsaws, walking by the ponds or just admiring the view. The children loved the games barn. While we were incredibly lucky with the weather it was also helpful when the sun got too hot! It made the holiday very relaxing for mum and dad too! They also loved watching the lambs and moorhen chicks and looking for tadpoles. Andrew and Lyn are just lovely: very welcoming and helpful. However, because of the location of the barn and the way it faces it feels completely private. The barn is stuffed with leaflets and helpful info to help you make the most of your holiday. It's well stocked in the kitchen, a selection of games, books and jigsaws in the living room - there's even a list of dvds they own in case you would like to borrow any! We really couldn't fault it and after a gorgeous fortnight my nine year old cried as we drove away because she wanted to live there! To be honest, I think we all felt the same way.
"The cottage was beautiful, clean and comfortable."
The hosts were very accommodating, obliging and friendly. There was a personal touch that was appreciated. We had such a relaxing and pleasant time that we would have no hesitation in having a holiday at Chilverton again.
"We had a lovely holiday, the owners were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble."
Nice biscuits on arrival too. Thank you.
