“"WakeHurst" is a lovely property in a beautiful spot.”

From the little details and personal touches, it's clear the owners have pride in this place too - we really enjoyed our stay here. It's a great base for some good coastal walks, or just enjoying a drink on the balcony watching the boats and the world go by :) ...

From the little details and personal touches, it's clear the owners have pride in this place too - we really enjoyed our stay here. It's a great base for some good coastal walks, or just enjoying a drink on the balcony watching the boats and the world go by :) We had no problems finding the place (We'd checked on Google street view first), and providing you stick close to the wall and take it slow, had no bumper scraping issues up the steep drive. Parking is for two cars only - as a sizing guide we had a Seat Alhambra on the decking, a Subaru Legacy (BMW 3 series size) in the garage. Drive forwards up the drive, carefully reverse into either space and you'll be fine...

The property

This elevated and spacious detached family home is situated in the picturesque village of Noss Mayo, in the spectacular South Hams coastal area of south Devon.

This modern property has outstanding views over Noss Mayo and Newton Creek and is close to the stunning South Hams beaches and the South West Coast Path, ideal for a family wishing to explore this beautiful part of the country.

There are several steps up from the driveway to the entrance, and once inside, most of the accommodation is on one level.

The delightful, light and spacious sitting room has two large comfy sofas and opens to the large balcony, overlooking the village and estuary, with plenty of room to sit at the table and watch the activity below.

The well-equipped kitchen has a large dining area and will be the hub of the cottage, where the family can sit together for breakfast or supper and make the most of their relaxation time together.

On the same level, the master bedroom has a king-size bed with en-suite shower, and the two twin rooms share a family bathroom.

The lower ground floor, comprises a useful utility room, a cloakroom and garage, which is ideal for parking a car or storing canoes.

Two kayaks have been provided for the more energetic guests to use.

The village is a short stroll from the house, where there is a good pub, shops, tennis courts and a children’s playground.

The River Yealm is surrounded by National Trust rolling countryside and includes Lord Revelstoke’s Nine Mile Ride, a glorious cliff-top walk in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the South Hams.

The Yealm Estuary is very popular with yachtsmen for both cruising and dinghy sailing, and racing occurs regularly on the river, either side of high water.

For anyone who can tear themselves away from this idyllic location, the charming towns of Modbury, Salcombe and Kingsbridge are all close by, whilst Plymouth, Dartmouth and the wild open spaces of Dartmoor are also all within easy reach.

With so much to do and so many options available, this spacious house is the perfect spot for a holiday at any time of year.
