  • "A lovely property with great outside space."

Unfortunately for us the weather wasn’t ideal for sitting outside but the main courtyard is a lovely sun trap and perfect for that morning coffee. The master bedroom is a great size, the bathroom and shower lovely and the kitchen/dining/living area is compact but had plenty of space for the pair of us and our two Springer spaniels. The kitchen area is well laid out if you want to cook, with plenty of pans and crockery (although lacking a knife block). Whilst not critical in such a peaceful location, a bigger tv would help those with children or those of us whose eyesight isn’t as great as it once was…! The location is terrific, with plenty of woodland walks, beaches nearby and a plethora of pubs to choose from. Jayne is a wonderful and welcoming host, and we thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at the Milk Shed.

The separate use of the outside space was great for our 2 dogs. The beds were super comfy. There was a lovely welcome basket of things which was much appreciated. Also, just little touches of board games, DVDs and a basket full of leaflets & information were all great things to have. We would definitely be interested in returning at some point & it seems very popular for returning guests. I did leave a few recommendations but they were only very very minor things. That didn’t impact our stay but were more of a ‘nice to have’ sort of thing. Jayne, was massively accommodating & so friendly. Would fully recommend this to all. Thank you :)

  • "What a fabulous rental !"

:-) Jayne happened to be at the gate when we arrived and could not have been more welcoming. The Milkshed was spotless and had everything we needed, with a great variety of utensils, dinnerware and pots and pans along with a great powerful large shower (which is often lacking in rentals). Thank you for the bread, cream tea and ciders. Set in a great location with easy access to the M5 which easily allowed us to go to different places every day. When we returned from our days out we had a secure area for us and our 2 whippets immediately outside the Milkshed plus a wonderful garden area to sit and enjoy the evening rays. It was the perfect setting for a much needed break for myself, sister and niece and both Andy and Jayne were so friendly to us all, suggesting places to go for shade (we were there in the hottest week of the year and so we were seeking out woods etc to go with the dogs) and recommending other great places such as Darts Farm shop (amazing place) and the surrounding area. We can honestly say that the Milkshed along with Jayne and Andy gave us a holiday break to remember - thank you so much. Hopefully I'll be back, perhaps just me and the whippets, but would love to come again

We booked last minute but all was ready for us, Jayne called the day before to confirm arrival and directions, and reminded us to fetch towels (we knew this from the confirmation) the gate to the farm was closed when we arrived but Jayne saw us and helped us in as the milk shed is hidden in the “farm yard” you won’t find it if your looking for it. We were lucky enough to meet & cuddle the latest guide dog puppy and we’re welcomed daily by the sheep. The kitchen is well stocked & a great hot shower. Plenty of clothes storage and a great base to explore Devon and Dorset.

The house was cosy, clean and comfortable and had all the amenities you'd want. It was lovely and warm, especially as we'd come from a house with a broken boiler in a cold snap! It was lovely seeing the sheep and bunnies in the field next to the property. We were slightly disappointed that the garden area wasn't immediately attached to the house, and the WiFi was iffy at times (but we did overload it with various devices and it wasn't entirely unexpected in a rural area!). The hosts went out of their way to help as much as they could. This was a lovely property in a great area, and perfect for a bit of peace

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, the owners take this very seriously. Following your comments, the owners have invested in a significant upgrade to the broadband at The Milk Shed, with much improved results. We're pleased to hear you had a lovely stay and look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Property Owner

We were however disappointed with the description of dog walks from the property. This consisted of any one of four fairly busy lanes with high hedgerows keeping the dog on a short lead. Or a short walk up to a farmers field which was ready for harvesting. We would also have preferred to have the garden adjacent to the rental accommodation. But am I being too fussy?? About the location

PLYMTREE

Honiton 8 miles; Tiverton 11 miles; Sidmouth 13 miles.

Plymtree is a delightful village in East Devon with plenty to offer it’s visitors. Lying in the valley of the River Culm the village is surrounded by rolling Devon hills, green wooded valleys and scattered farming villages. Plymtree is home to a local pub, The Blacksmith Arms, along with additional village pubs within two miles serving good food. Also of interest is the community shop, run by volunteers and the historic parish church of St John the Baptist. The church itself dates back to the 14th century and of great interest is the 15th century addition, the painted rood screen. In the churchyard gaze at the ancient Yew Tree, thought to be over 1100 years old and the inspiration for the village’s name. Plymtree is only a short drive from the dramatic 20 mile stretch of Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural World Heritage Site. Resorts such as Seaton, Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth are found along this stretch of coastline, and all have plenty to occupy their visitors. An easy drive from Plymtree is the cathedral city of Exeter with plenty of large shops, a wealth of museums, a theatre and many fabulous restaurants. Plymtree is also close to the rugged and unspoilt expanse of Exmoor National Park as well as the tranquil and beautiful Blackdown Hills (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).
