  • "Just got home after a brilliant week at Lowerbourne Terrace."

A beautifully presented house which proved a great base for our week in Exmoor. A well equipped kitchen with everything you can think of. Parking a little tight as others have mentioned but we knew this in advance and actually as we went ‘out of season’ we were able to find space for our second car really easily. We shall certainly be returning to this lovely property. Thank you!

Delighted you have had such a great time at no 3 Lowerbourne Terrace. Thank you for your lovely feedback. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Heather and John Property Owner

  • "We have had a wonderful stay here and were all sad to leave!"

Lower bourne was a great base to be able to access other areas nearby. The kitchen is very clean and has everything you could possibly need to cook meals. It is only a short walk to a shop, pub or the local park which our 8 year old loved!! Walls are also just on the doorstep. The surroundings are just beautiful!! I would say the only downside is the parking, the junction can be a bit tricky when reversing in but every other house has the same issue with parking. It’s not easy if you have a big/long car but it’s doable. Definitely wouldn’t put me off coming again! Thank you for a fabulous stay!

Thankyou for your feedback, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. The park in the village certainly is a great asset, and as you say walking from the door in a beautiful area. Heather and John Property Owner

  • "The difficuly in parking was a real issue for us."

Once we'd arrived we decided not to move the car all week. The property is advertised as having a parking spot, and this was a major reason for choosing this property, however it was not until I'd paid in full that I was told about the need to reverse down the lane. I think you need to be more up front about this.

Thankyou for your feedback. We are lucky to have a parking space right outside the cottage as many in Porlock do not. I will ensure the description about being best to reverse into the terrace off the village High Street is moved in the cottages description. Property Owner

  • "Lovely house,plenty of space."

Convenient for the village and walks, also a good base for exploring Minehead, Lynton, Lynmouth, Lynton & Barnstaple railway and the picturesque villages of Exmoor. Small issues, no hairdryer or iron (we were attending a big family wedding) and shower quite cold. We stay in cottages quite often & these are always provided.

Thankyou for your feedback. We are always striving to improve No 3 so have now added both a hair dryer and iron/ironing board for future guests. Hopefully the shower issue is also rectified. We are glad you enjoyed exploring the area, it certainly has a lot to offer. Property Owner

Kitchen and bathroom immaculate well stocked easy to use spaces. Property nice and quiet even though in the heart of Porlock with high St and pubs just yards away. Parking great to have a space outside Property and best to reverse to space from high street. Overall great place to stay in and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again when in area. Brilliant find and had more than we expected...

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at No 3, and for your comments, parking with the cottage is certainly a bonus and the wide chose of eateries in walking distance are all great to try whilst on holiday. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Heather and John Property Owner

  • "We had an enjoyable stay and the cottage is well equipped."

I think you should say the stairs are very steep and the oil fired heating did smell a bit upstairs. Also I think staying on Exmoor any heating needs to be set by the occupants not predetermined.Had we paid the full price our stay would have been deemed too expensive. (The toilet seat is very loose too ☹️)

Thankyou for your feedback, we are glad you had an enjoyable stay. The flight of stairs to the first floor I don’t think are any steeper than any other, the ones on up to the bedroom on the top floor may be slightly, but not that noticeably. Whilst the heating is set remotely, it can be over ridden with the thermostat/ control in the lounge, we will ensure the guidance instructions are clearer on this. Toilet seat no longer loose. • "First the cons: One hand towel for 6 adults is ridiculous with a bathroom, separate toilet and kitchen sink."

Only one tea towel. Only one washing cloth. No cleaning products for the kitchen or bathroom. The heating timer setting was unsuitable for the cool/wet autumn. Origami toilet paper (keep folding until you get something usable). We did report a loose toilet seat in the bathroom but had no feedback. Now the pros: Very comfortable beds. We had a problem with the king bed not being split into singles and this was dealt with within an hour. Very well furnished. All the kitchen equipment was more than adequate so that while the dish washer was on there was still enough cutlery and plates/cups etc to have a full meal. Really enjoyed the covered conservatory area. Well positioned in Porlock for enjoyable walks around the village and great for the North Devon coast. If the cons could be addressed this would be a 5 star for us all.

Thankyou for your feedback both positive and negative, we are always learning and looking to improve and appreciate it. We have adjusted the towels so now there is a hand towel in both bathroom/toilet and kitchen in addition to bath towels per guest. There is also a spare tea towel. There is normally some cleaning product under the sink. The heating, whilst set remotely, can be over ridden by the thermostat /timer in the lounge . We spend a lot of time in the covered conservatory area when we stay also, almost the smallest room in the house and the simplest but somehow this is where I always sit to read a book! We hope you visit again some day. Heather and John. Property Owner

  • "Really nice cottage, well equipped, parking is a little tight but perfectly manageable even with an suv Could do with some more tea towels but minor issue Main concern was a strong smell of heating oil, never stayed somewhere with oil central heating so wasn’t sure if this was normal, messaged the contact number on the Sunday, got response on Monday saying they would check with the owners, we assumed that’s who we had contacted, but never heard back."

Without this issue would have given full marks.

Great walks on your doorstep and a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, making a wonderful base fora relaxing holiday. The cottage is very pretty, with a cute, sunny garden and a sea view from the top bedroom. Very thoughtfully equipped, the kitchen had everything we could possibly want, including a few unexpected things, like baking equipment, Tupperware and enough mugs and plates to only out the dishwasher on once a day! Beds were very comfortable, with good quality linen. The only annoyance was that the heating kept coming on (in May!) and that there were no instructions for turning it off.

Thankyou for your feedback, we are pleased you had a lovely stay, it really is a great place for exploring the coast and National Park with a variety of walks from the doorstep. We are sorry about the heating, it is driven by the thermostat in the front room. We will ensure instructions are replaced in the guest folder. We do hope that you visit again soon. • "My overwhelming memory of staying here is how disappointed we were to find we had literally been left the bare minimum possible and had to go out almost as quickly as we'd turned up."

Not want you want on a cold winters evening, in a place you know nothing about. It was new years break, so of course, it would have been lovely to have a bottle of fizz in the fridge or at least something to mark the big occasion, there was nothing. Ok, not something we've historically encountered, but that was a 'nice to have'. What isn't a nice to have is the basics. We were literally left the bare bones to get us through our immediate arrival - a sachet of milk each....? A tea bag... less than a coffee sachet each....? I couldn't believe it. A couple of pints is only £1 and could've seen us through til morning. A loaf of bread, a block of butter. We weren't left ANYTHING to wipe down surfaces or clean up after ourselves. No sponge, kitchen roll, dishcloth or anything in this regard. 2 rolls of toilet tissue between 6 people, 2 dishwasher tablets, no bin bags other than the one which was in situ. It all felt really basic and minimal and if I'm honest...tight. It wasn't a cheap stay, but it was made to feel cheap by the lack of welcome we felt we had as a family. 6 of us staying from Wednesday until Saturday. It wouldn't have cost much at all, but would've made such a positive impact. The only other feedback I can offer is that if you are unable to make the super king into 2 beds on a short notice booking this needs to be conveyed to guests before they book. This was imperative for us, so when we arrived to find the bed still as a superking it was a problem. I wouldnt have boked the property if I had known this. Not hearing back from Adrian was also disappointing, I had assumed that all was fine, given that he didnt get in touch with me as he said he would. Such a shame

Thankyou for your feedback and we are so very sorry to have disappointed. I will look into what has happened. I know your stay was very short notice but there should have been dishcloth/tee towel/ washing up liquid/ dishwasher tablets and a selection of tea/coffee/hot chocolate/milk /sugar sachets and biscuits for you on arrival.
