Extremely clean and well equipped with comfortable beds. Owners very helpful and discreet and kindly left us a cream tea and bottle of wine. Lovely views, not far from town for supplies. Would definitely book again for this area.

The property

This single-storey detached Devon cottage is situated in two acres of the owners’ grounds, a mile from the edge-of-Dartmoor town of Okehampton.

It is a wonderfully neat and smart base, full of light and just right for families or friends to enjoy the stunning surrounding scenery or travel around Devon from this central base.

The sitting room is bright and welcoming with its wood burning stove for cooler days and double glazed doors to throw open to the decking on sunny days.

The kitchen with its dining area has fun, cheerful splashes of contemporary colour.

Both the bedrooms come with an en suite and are just right for sleeping peacefully after walking Dartmoor’s hills and valleys.

Outside, your sunny decking with furniture sweeps around the cottage to a gate to a lawn with lots of space for playing games or simply enjoying the moorland views.

For a choice of restaurants and shops, a cinema or the leisure centre, head into Okehampton.

The town is full of interest, with a seasonal heritage railway and the start of the popular Granite Way cycle/walking track to Lydford, 11 miles away.

For walkers, you also have The Two Castles Trail, the West Devon Way and of course the wide open spaces of Dartmoor to explore.

With easy access to the A30 heading to Cornwall and the M5, Lily’s Pad is a hugely convenient base is a lovely location.

About the location

OKEHAMPTON

Exeter 23 miles.

Okehampton is a busy market town on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park and near the highest and most dramatic areas of the moor, where Yes Tor rises to a height above 2000 feet. To the north of Okehampton are some beautiful rolling Devon hills where small farming villages nestle amidst woods and fields with plenty of gently flowing rivers. The fabulous Roadford Reservoir offers a multitude of watersport activities and fishing opportunities. Okehampton has a prominent medieval castle overlooking a wooded river valley, the Museum of Dartmoor Life (where Tourist Information can be found) and Okehampton train station, which has been restored to its 1950s glory running trains along a scenic route to Meldon the highest station in southern England. The town also has spectacular views across Dartmoor, access to fabulous walks and Simmons Park where you’ll find a children’s adventure playground. This area of Devon has plenty of farm shops and country inns serving good food where visitors can spend time relaxing and unwinding amongst unspoilt countryside.
