  • "We had a great time."

Cottage was located in a convenient place and the village is such a friendly place.

  • "For an expensive luxury cottage I was disappointed that there was no welcome pack and I had to ask to have bedding and towels changed after the first week of our fortnight stay."

But the biggest problem is the cottage is three foot away from a very busy road and the noise was intolerable, so glad to be home so I can get a good nights sleep.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. As this was the first two week booking at Brackenmoor the owner hadn't realised a linen change would be required but reacted swiftly as soon as you contacted her. Welcome packs vary at each property and are of course complimentary: many properties may have reduced or removed this due to Covid concerns and to reduce the risk of touch points. As regards the proximity to the road, there is a Red Note at the foot of the listing for Brackenmoor which states: "Note: Please note that the cottage has road frontage which can experience a steady flow of traffic at peak times." This will have flashed up again before you made the reservation to ensure you were fully informed. Property Owner

  • "Would have been better if there was somewhere to sit outside and/or some outdoor chairs to use"

Thank you for your comments, we have confirmed with the owner that there is a 2 person bench just outside on the gravel/flower bed area below the kitchen window and in the communal garden (minimum 20 feet away) there are 3 individual seating areas with tables and chairs (pic 22), far enough apart for some privacy if anyone else is using the garden. • "An extremely clean, comfortable and well-equipped cottage in a convenient location for experiencing the delights of Dartmoor."

Lots of local walks and good pubs offering food and drink. The owner was very welcoming and friendly and we would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to others or returning ourselves.

  • "Beautiful cottage, exceeded our expectations."

Wonderful location, despite being steps away from the road, it was very quiet at night and the double glazing eliminated any noise of passing cars during the day. Lovely walks locally

  • "Great location for Dartmoor and the surrounding area."

  • "An extremely comfortable, well presented immaculate cottage in a very good location."

We enjoyed our short stay. Our only 'gripe' is the description and photograph of the patio and shared garden is slightly misleading. We took our dog and picked this cottage because it suggested there was an outside area. However there is no patio outside the cottage and the shared area is also away from the cottage. In the photo this area looks quite contained whereas it is in fact open onto a car park. If not having an outside area doesn't bother you, then I would heartily recommend this place.

  • "We spent a week at Brackenmoor over the New Year period, owner left us a bottle of Prosecco which was a lovely surprise!"

Very comfortable cottage, 2 spacious bedrooms each with en-suites. Property has been decorated and furnished to a high standard. Good location, close to a good pub. Variety of excellent walks close by onto the moor. Local shop with friendly, helpful staff which serves coffee/breakfast. We had a wonderful stay only disappointment was the weather was so mild for December/January we did not use the open fire!

  • "The cottage was lovely."

Very clean and well appointed. The welcome items were a nice surprise and much appreciated. The bedrooms were lovely although a wardrobe in both bedrooms wood have been a bonus. Very comfortable beds and great linen and towels. I think it would be fairer if the listing mentioned that the cottage is on a busy, sometimes noisy road. If the weather is warm and you want the windows open the traffic noise is considerable particularly if you like a lie in! However, this is outweighed by the positives and we enjoyed our week exploring the local area.

We are delighted that you loved the cottage and it's facilities The location in the heart of a Dartmoor village does mean that the property is close to the minor road running through the village. The owners inform us that there had been an accident on the A30 during your stay which resulted in traffic being diverted for a period of time. The location however gives great access to the village pubs and the National Trust property Finch Foundry only yards from the property. The cottage is also blessed with a large rear garden. The cottage has two double wardrobes in one double room and. a 9 drawer dressing table , 2 bedside tables and a free standing clothes horse plus hooks with coat hangers in the second double room which also benefits from an en-suite shower room. Thank you for taking the time to help us improve our services. Property Owner

Enter via the front door into a hall with delabole flagstone floors, leading to the bright and stylish sitting room which makes the perfect space to relax in front of the wood burner or watch TV.

To one end is a formal dining area with colourful dresser and a table around which to eat or plan your days to come.

In the kitchen you'll find everything you need to cater for the group.

Upstairs, a super king size bedroom with smart en-suite shower and a second room with a king size bed both offer plenty of natural light and nice views of the village from huge, original sash windows.

Outside you are welcome to use the shared garden, (not attached to the cottage), with lawn and picnic table, or just a short walk from the cottage is a children's playground, ideal for burning off the last of the days energy.

With a choice of two village pubs both offering good food, cooking is entirely optional.
