  • "Amazing flat, thank you for the stay, it works perfectly with children"

    Reviewed by Mark5.0Sep 2024

  • "We stayed here last year and decided to book again and were pleasantly surprised by the new kitchen and furniture in the living space, much improved and a better layout for a modest space."

We were 4 adults and 2 smaller children so very much maximum capacity but the spacious hallway and plenty of bathrooms means it’s no problem. Just a couple of improvements- the new dining table means that only 5 of us could sit around it at any one time, unless we pulled an outside chair in from the balcony ( our children are young but not highchair sized!). Also the mattress in the back bedroom feels old ( sags in the middle) which is a great shame as otherwise it would have been all full stars in terms of feedback but it really didn’t make for a great nights sleep unfortunately. We did have a maintenance issue on arrival which needed immediate attention but called up and someone came very promptly and remedied it. Would recommend and definitely consider staying again and new kitchen was well equipped ( although no oven gloves).

  • "We stayed at this property last year, but this year it is looking like it need a thorough carpet clean, new pillows, leaking taps to be fixed throughout and the lack of drainage from the back bathroom sink to be resolved."

The bed sheets appear too small for the beds and keep coming loose, which does not make for a comfortable sleep. Whilst we love the location and general ambience of the flat, we do believe that it needs to receive some attention. Currently, I would not describe the property as 'luxury'.

  • "We have stayed in these flats before and this one is definitely the poor relation."

Cramped. Maintenance is a major issue, 5 of the 6 bathroom taps are leaking (reported this when reporting the leaking cystern) and the kitchen tap is loose. It seems that the cupboard catches have been dysfunctional for years, the front (fire) door does not shut itself, shelves missing in the fridge and more. All easily rectified. Failed to prove that Sky was available as per the listing. This property needs a major dose of TLC.

There was a security issue regarding having only 1 key for both the communal entrance and the access door to the property but this was resolved by the staff at coast and country

  • "A really lovely stay thank you."

Beds were very comfortable and the apartment was nice and warm, especially as we had some cold nights during our stay. The kitchen had all that we needed. I hate to say any negatives- minor details really. I used the bedroom next to the sitting room. The wardrobe door wouldn't stay closed, and the radiator needs bleeding as it is cold at the bottom. We couldn't get the key to open the bin store and we didn't want to force it. We probably had the wrong key, knowing us. When you first arrive it is confusing on how to get into the flat- maybe Sykes listing could mention that you have to go to the back of the garage. Also the walk into town is very short, but the walk back is up a steep hill. Not impossible, but it was a bit challenging for my 80 year old parents! Having said all that, I didn't want to go home and would recommend this accommodation without hesitation!

  • "The flat was cosy, very well equipped, quiet and a perfect place to stay for us."

Whilst the walk up to the flat could be described as quite steep in places, it was nice to be slightly out of the town and to look out over the coutryside, estuary and sea.

  • "The really great things about the apartment are its pleasant and central, yet quiet position,(you do need to be able to walk up steep roads/steps), on site parking and cleanliness."

The downsides are that it is bedroom and bathroom ‘top heavy’ with just enough living space for two but we think would be cramped for more people. The main bathroom could do with some redecoration and generally we felt the apartment requires maintenance. This includes the lounge freestanding light (still?) doesn’t work. Kitchen appliances need attention, the toaster half works, the oven temp seems volatile (food was burnt), double door bolt and wardrobe doors in main bedroom don’t work as they should..and other issues. It would also be good to have some dishes suitable for eating pasta, and some bed throws or additional covers. We know Salcombe well and as always had a wonderful week there, with the apartment being just ok when we felt with some time spent on it, it could be so much better. We may not stay in no 13 again, as it is, but would choose another apartment in the same development.

  • "My Mother found the foam mattress in the front bedroom very uncomfortable and didn’t sleep well all week."

Both sofas were also uncomfortable to sit on. The lightning in the apartment was awful. The smell from the carpets in the communal area was dreadful. All these things spoilt our holiday.

  • "We had a fabulous week in this apartment, a short walk from the town centre."

Immaculately clean and very comfortable, we will be booking again and hope the sun shines on us as it did this year.

  • "The apartment is beautifully kept and maintained ---thank you very much - this is the third year we have rented this apartment."

However the the mattresses on the bunk beds in the childrens room need replacing - they are rather bumpy to lie on for an older person. The uplighter lamp in the Lounge needs fixing - it is faulty. We needed more Green Refuse bags and still are amazed that South Hams does not encourage food recycling in Salcombe.

Shower heads dirty. Pillows flat. Curtains not black out so too light to sleep. Undercroft parking too narrow to get a large car in. Bin store too far away.

Salcombe town a few minutes walk away; parking was great. Some minor issues in the house readily resolved by C&C so huge thanks for that. Shame C&C couldn't have fixed the weather to ensure no rain on every day-maybe an improvement suggestion for the future?! Thank you so much for another amazing holiday.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We were so pleased to read that the property’s location and facilities were suitable for your stay, we were only sorry that you were not able to experience Salcombe in all its glory what with the absence of the sun. Our customer service is so very important to us and so were pleased to learn that you had this very experience. We were sorry to read that you had some difficulty with operating some of the property’s appliances. • "The apartment is situated in a lovely part of Salcombe with reasonably easy access to the centre."

The bedroom and bathrooms are spacious and well appointed. However the living areais too small for the amount of people it purports to cater for. If full it would be impossible for everyone to sit on the sofas and at the dining table. Also some of the fittings are of very poor quality particularly the pans and the lounge cushions. Our main disappointment however was the extremely poor level of cleaning, particularly in the kitchen area. The cupboard doors, handles and work surfaces are very dirty. The toaster was also very dirty. We had to wash most of the glasses, cups, cutlery, plates and bowls in the dishwasher before we could use them. Totally unacceptable! We have stayed in other Coast and Country properties and have never had this problem before. These problems need to be addressed ASAP!

  • "We had a very enjoyable week staying in this comfortable and well equipped apartment."

The apartment had comfy beds and good showers; WIFI worked well and there was plenty of storage space. The living area was quite compact, fine for the 2 of us but we felt it would be cramped for a group of 6 guests. The outside parking area was spacious but we found the parking space in the covered garage difficult to use for our long estate car as it was close to the wall.

  • "The flat is well-equipped with 2 good sized double bedrooms and a smaller room with bunk beds."

Three bathrooms in all may be a bit excessive... Our only real problem was with the complex itself where the stairwell has no natural light and it was quite tricky to find the light switches for the timed lights when entering and leaving.

  • "A lovely holiday apartment, in an excellent position ."

All the fixtures & fittings were excellent, lovely bathrooms & kitchen with everything needed for a great holiday.

  • "Well maintained property with lovely views."

The two double bedrooms are a good size. The kitchen/ living room is a little on the small side and might feel a bit cramped for more than four people. The location is handy for the town and the harbour but does involve a couple of short steep stretches on the way back. This was not a problem for us. I do think that towels should be supplied with properties of this size and standard.
