  • "As always, we had a great stay at Waters Edge."

    It was a real positive to have the large smart TV and a real boon to have the small freezer in the garage. However, as always there was confusion and difficulty with the refuse collection system. The Coast and Country instructions left in the house state that the rubbish collection is on Saturdays, which it wasn't - it was collected on the Wednesday. Also, despite having a variety of recycling boxes and bags in the property we were not allowed to use them. Some holiday rental properties were able to take full advantage of the recycling collections; Toad Hall for instance. We therefore took the inconvenient decision to take most of our recycling home with us as Salcombe only deals with glass and paper. Surely, this has got to change soon in light of climate change etc

  • "We have stayed here several times now - the photos need updating as the property is much nicer as it has been redecorated."

    We particularly like the convenience of the large garage. Great to have somewhere safe for our car (rather than in a busy car park) and somewhere to leave our paddle boards inflated. Would highly recommend. Sadly not booking the property again as it doesn’t allow pets and we would like to bring our dog along next time.

  • "This home was filled with light every day of our holiday!"

    ! It was very uplifting. Anything we needed was catered for. Everything was very comfortable and convenient, except we did find the bed very hard but realise this is a personal preference. The home was absolutely spotlessly clean. It was very easy to walk into the town centre or pop to Co-op. Thank you to Coast and Country who were very efficient and made things run sooo smoothly for us. Thank you. We will return here!!!

  • "We had yet another lovely stay at Waters Edge despite the current Coronavirus situation."

    It was a welcome surprise to find that Wifi was now available, particularly as mobile phone coverage is patchy. Coast and Country were very friendly and efficient when a power cut caused the boiler to malfunction. They sent someone round to fix it within a few hours. The facilities are good and well maintained. A couple of suggestions would be to offer more fridge/freezer storage space. The small fridge with icebox struggles to meet the food storage requirements of 4 people. Perhaps a freezer in the garage? The other being an observation that the shower uses vast quantities of hot water, which in these environmentally conscious times seems extravagant. So, perhaps a water restrictor?

  • "This was our 2nd visit to this property, which was once again found to be perfectly clean and as expected."

    This is a great property in an excellent location with the added benefit of the garage. The only thing to note was that, despite the notice in the property stating that bins are collected weekly, they had not been collected on the Saturday when we arrived and were not collected during the time we were there. The bin seagull bag was almost full when we arrived. Fortunately we did not have much rubbish so managed to fit it in the bag. Slightly surprised that there is not more obvious availability of recycling facilities there - maybe this comment can be used to lobby local council to improve.

    4 Waters Edge had all that was needed for an enjoyable holiday, with plenty to do and lovely walks right from the doorstep and with the garage, easy to explore further afield. We will be back, but outside of school holidays, when Salcombe may be a little quieter.

  • "4 Waters Edge is a really good property for our needs; we don't require luxury but it's more than comfortable."

    It would be great to have access to a freezer, perhaps there's room in the garage? With regard to the waste collection we felt really bad that there was no recycle collection and that there were now even less recycle facilities in Salcombe (nowhere for cans and plastic milk bottles); strange when Salcombe is now promoting itself as 'plastic clever'. We decided to take our recycle waste home with us which I'm sure is not what most people would be prepared to do.

    You are right by Salcombe town and all the amenities. The only thing that would improve this property is wifi. Apart from that it's flawless.

    Only one criticism and that is the bedding. Very poor quality duvet. It was lumpy and well past its best. Pillows were the same. Having parking on site and central location compensated for the bedding!

The property

4 Waters Edge is located on Thorning Street just a few feet from the water’s edge of Shadycombe Creek, just a short, level walk to Salcombe’s renowned boutiques, restaurants and waterfront, ideally situated for exploring sandy beaches and popular walking routes nearby.

Located on the first floor is an open plan lounge / dining room with TV, DVD player, radio, sofas and a wooden dining table.

The country style kitchen has a fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave, electric cooker, storage cupboards and a dishwasher whilst the cloakroom boasts a hand wash basin and a w.c.

Sleeping four, the master bedroom has a double bed with plenty of storage whilst the second bedroom has two single beds.

There is one bathroom with a shower (over), wash hand basin, w.c, shaver point and an airing cupboard. Located inside the double garage (providing parking for one car) is a sink, washing machine and tumble dryer for guests’ use.

Please note the dimension of the garage is 6.5m X 3m X 1920mm high.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
