  • "Property was situated in a good position decor looked nice in general good."

The only thing let it down was fact we had to do some cleaning before unpacking and when stripping bedding the duvet and mattress cover left a lot to be desired. If i saw that i would not have slept in it.

...and we just keep coming back ! Love the refurb too

  • "Absolutely loved the refurb."

Much lighter and brighter. The owners have really made an effort to think of everything and it is appreciated. The property is much cleaner than last year although I don't think the changeover cleaners are given enough time to do a thorough job. Only real criticism is the hot water in the kitchen and bathroom sinks. It just isn't hot enough. Apart from that the property is lovely, in an excellent location.

  • "The cottage was well located and well equipped."

We were, however, disappointed in a couple of areas. The bed was listed as being king size when in fact it was only a double. The standard of cleanliness was little short of appalling. Everything was in need of a good clean, paintwork was dirty, windows needed cleaning, carpets were dirty and stained. The toilet was filthy. Under the rim was black and behind the toilet it looked like it had never been touched. We have booked again because of the position and facilities but hope it may be cleaner earlier in the season.

  • "Lovely cottage, smooth process of key collection although I couldn’t find offices originally so perhaps more details of that could be given."

Al in all lovely little cottage situated just out of the busyness of the town and away from crowds but only a few minted walk along the seafront. Lovely cosy comfy cottage .... we will be returning.

  • "The house was lovely, location is perfect especially for spending days in Salcombe with a little one."

I agree the furniture layout isn't great but appreciate this is a family holiday home and the owners have chosen the layout to maximize the space and storage solutions. Some fixtures could do with some TLC especially in the kitchen and bathroom. Would recommend as it's a lovely spot if your wanting central Salcombe with flat access and little less noise.

  • "It would be good if the owners changed the wardrobe in the main bedroom to something smaller so that there could be some space next to the bed on the window side for a bedside table."

The property would also benefit from some blackout blinds as the light came through early.

  • "The cottage was over crowded with furniture and very small."

The bedroom was very small (bed touched 3 walls) but the massive wardrobe did not help. All holiday I felt like the cottage needed streamlining of furniture. I wish we had been told about the building work on the cottage opposite in the alley before we arrived. Most mornings we were woken by builders on the roof before 8am. The cottage was down a narrow alley so we had to keep the blinds down 24/7 to prevent the builders looking in, which did not help as the weather was warm and we need the window open to remain cool. I appreciate that the owners are not to blame for the building work but I feel they should have been aware of this situation. So to sum up, we were up early every morning without a lie in (which I feel a lie in is a big part of relaxing and unwinding on holiday)

  • "Everything you could possibly need available in this delightful little cottage."

A big plus was the Car Park Permit which allowed us to leave the car not only in the nearby Salcombe car park without worry but also to visit surrounding towns also using the permit.

  • "It’s detailed in one of the write ups that the bed is a king - it isn’t!"

! Very much a double. To make the cottage more comfortable I think the bed should be moved so you can access both sides and remove the HUGE wardrobe, so people aren’t climbing over each other to get in and out of bed. We stayed in the cottage next door last Easter and they had this layout. Perhaps a de clutter of some furniture downstairs too to make the place feel less claustrophobic, especially if you’re supposed to be able to accommodate up to 4 and a dog. It was tight with 2 adults and a dog.

  • "What a great cottage and lovely location."

Couldn't ask for more. We visited Salcombe for three nights with our 2 children and was very impressed with this lovely cottage. Minutes walk to all the lovely shops and restaurants. We will definitely be booking again for next year.

  • "Lovely, but smaller than I thought"

  • "We absolutely loved Blueboat cottage, which is furnished and equipped to a really high quality and is in a brilliant location just a few minutes walk from the centre and the boat park."

Our only comment is that the master bedroom doesn't need such a big wardrobe and if this was reduced in size then the bed could be swung around giving access (albeit tight) from each side, but only a minor observation as we still loved the place.

  • "Blueboat cottage was a lovely place to stay in a great position, easy, flat, walk into town, with all the facitities you could need, very homely and nicely decorated with a real 'salcombe' feel."

Kitchen had all you could need. The only down side was the position of the double bed which unfortunately touches the wall top and bottom so was not ideal for anyone tall. Other than that we had a lovely stay.
