  • "We had a little bit of a rocky start, but by Monday this was sorted by the management company for the property."

Parking was not a problem this week, as no one was next door. I parked outside the cottage all week and no trouble getting into space with a small Honda. There are two local carparks, Shadycombe (max 14 hours) and Creek car park which has a 24 hour car park. Most things were in the cottage that we needed. The cottage was warm enough in the day, but at times it did feel a little chilly at night (October). The radiators in the bathrooms, on the first floor and loft spaces were easy to use with the instructions. The living spaces and the bedrooms could do with some blankets, on sofas and ends of beds to use in the evenings. We had to use the additional duvets from the other beds for the bedrooms. The oven worked a treat, just needed a light as I think it has gone. We enjoyed Salcombe.

  • "A lovely cottage with an excellent location for visiting Salcombe."

We were able to park in the cottage's parking space with our Yaris cross (please note other reviews). The kitchen was well equipped and the cottage lovely and clean and welcoming. It was warm on a chilly and wet spring day. The two twin beds in the front bedroom were very firm. We enjoyed our stay a lot. Thank you.

  • "The overall appearance of the cottage looked great & lovely decor too."

Plus great location! BUT its a shame the owners didn't listen to past feedback of the king size bed being so uncomfortable! There appeared to be a ridge down the centre & also sloped down on one side - very odd. So from lack of sleep after lovely days out - it gave a bitter taste to the stay. We had to leave a couple of days earlier to get home for some rest (such a shame). The parking space definitely will only fit a mini.

Thank you for your feedback. We were sorry that you found the bed uncomfortable. We do recognise that mattress comfort is a matter of preference, however the mattresses in the top bedroom are of good quality and brand new. Due to the room being at the very top of an old cottage we have to use 'zip and link' with a king sized memory foam topper. With regard to your comment about parking, it is clearly listed on the website that this property only accommodates a small sized car up to 4m. We were only sorry that you did not see this before booking. On behalf of, Property Owner

Had a lovely break cottage was really cosy had everything we needed for our stay car park was full most days so luckily as there was no-one in the next door cottage it wasn't a problem to park would imagine it would be a nightmare in peak season

  • "I have stayed here before and love it but there are two things that need updating-the car parking ‘space’ doesn’t fit a mini so I think you need to be clear on that."

Also the double bed at the top of the house needs replacing it is beyond uncomfortable.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your comments. We were sorry to read that you had some difficulty with the parking arrangements. It is indeed listed on our website, that this property only accommodates small/ medium sized car. We were only sorry you did not see this before booking. We were sorry you found the bed uncomfortable. Although we recognise that this is a matter of preference; we have passed your thoughts to the owner and hope that it did not detract what is a beautiful week in Salcombe. • "The cottage is lovely and suited us well."

It was very useful having the tumble dryer! The parking at the front of the property is only suitable for a medium sized car and not a large 4 x 4 as it overhangs the neighbours parking so we parked in the main car park. Overall a comfortable and cost cottage.

  • "A few people have complained that the parking space is too small to fit a regular size car."

This is not true, we parked our large 4x4 next to the house the whole time so a regular sized car will easily fit so don’t let the parking put you off booking it. However there are plenty of car parks in Salcombe. The location of the cottage is excellent as you can easily walk to most places in Salcombe. The kitchen is fully equipped with absolutely everything you need to do cooking and laundry if needed. There’s also a supermarket very close by. The cottage is nicely decorated and comfortable although does need a paint freshen up but is very clean which is the main thing for us. Overall very happy with our stay and would re-book Crab Cottage.

Wow! We were delighted to read that you had a very enjoyable stay here at Crab Cottage. Thank you for taking the time to leave us your comments. We very much look forward to welcoming you back soon. Coast and Country Cottages on behalf of, Property Owner

  • "Bed in upstairs bedroom needs replacing as very uncomfortable."

Main disappointment was the advertised parking. There is no parking for a normal to large size car. If we had of been able to park outside the property, the continual flow of work lorries parked in the middle of the single track road would have meant we could not get in or out of the space!! Very disappointed and parking space should not be advertised or owner should provide a permit for the car park.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We were terribly sorry to read that you had some difficulty with the parking arrangements. Due to the building work taking place in Salcombe, traffic flow was somewhat heavier than it ordinarily would be at this time of year. We can only apologise for the inconvenience this must have caused and hope that it did not detract too largely from what is a beautiful week in Salcombe. • "Parking is a little tight!"

we were lucky because it was October and we had a little more flexibility than we would have had at peak I would suggest that you get a weekly pass for creek car park in high season. The house is fab, one of the best I have stayed in over 9 years, great location and so comfortable. Every need has been thought of and although we didn’t use the patio area because of the time of year it was lovely and well laid out. I will definitely look out for this property again.

Enjoyed time in the garden feeding the resident robin! Very easy walk into the town with plenty of local shops and terrific views across the water. There is no weekly rate for car parking just a 24 hour ticket if you car won’t fit the space but that’s the only drawback in an otherwise great holiday setting.

  • "Lovely cottage, very comfortable and great location."

We loved our walk along Island Street into the town but also really enjoyed being close to Batson's Creek. We managed to squeeze our car into the parking space at the front of the cottage and didn't use it all week but just walked and ferried everywhere. Thanks for a great holiday.

  • "We were the first guests in this newly refurbished property."

Everything was spotless and the owner's had obviously spent alot of time thinking about the design. Only minor issue, is parking, unless you drive a tiny smart car consider there no parking at the property, the good news is there is an excellent weekly parking permit available which covers tons of car parks around the area. Some information about the recycling facilities which are located by the car park nearby would have been useful. Neither of these two tiny issues should detract from how lovely are stay was. We will be back! Thankyou it was a wonderful stay.
