  • "We had a wonderful stay at Edinburgh House."

The views are breathtaking, and the various seating options, inside & out, to enjoy them were fantastic. We have never stayed anywhere where the kitchen has everything you could possibly need and more. Seating in the lounge area was really comfy with blankets provided which made the colder evenings cosy. The main bedroom is huge, plenty of storage for clothes but we weren't comfortable in the bed. We feel this was due to a lot of give in the mattress and in some places we could feel the springs. We only used the rain shower upstairs and it was fantastic with plenty of water pressure. It was lovely to have such a huge selection of books as well as dvds & games. The only other improvement we can think of, apart from a change of mattress, is a smart tv.

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Edinburgh House and found it well-equipped. We are sorry that you found the mattress uncomfortable - this is the first time a guest has reported this. Usually people comment on how comfy all the mattresses are but we realise this is a personal thing. We will certainly keep an eye on this in future feedback. Thank you very much for taking the time to provide specific feedback (always the most helpful). Property Owner

So generous and thoughtful to leave all the basics in the store cupboard. Thank you we hope to visit again next year. The Raeburn family.

  • "We tried to contact you by email and phone early on in our holiday to express our concerns and no one got back to us throughout our stay."

Our complaint had been assigned to a lady called Stephanie but we didn’t hear back from her. Our issues were therefore unresolved and the customer service absolutely disgusting.

I have personally spoken with this guest as I was very concerned to read this review. I am taking the matter up with Coast and Country to find out why their usually excellent customer service failed so badly on this occasion. As a property owner I rely on Coast and Country to respond to and rectify any guest complaints about our property immediately, in particular with reference to any cleaning issues. • "We have stayed in Edinburgh House numerous times and sadly it hasn’t changed much over the years - the shower still leaks, the kitchen door leaks when it rains, the living room furniture is pretty appalling and the number of cobwebs is amusing!"

It is in great need of an update! The kitchen however is well stocked and the beds are comfy. The main reason we go back is the spectacular view. An evening meal in the kitchen with that view is priceless, you wouldn’t find better in any of the restaurants in town!

I am very pleased to say that we have now been able to do a thorough overhaul of Edinburgh House. A comfy new sofa has arrived from which to look at our amazing view, a new shower installed and new kitchen door that doesn't leak! We are reliant on Coast and Country to make sure that high cleaning standards are upheld and would encourage any guest who is not satisfied to contact C&C immediately. Property Owner

  • "It was not very clean - windows and floors looked like they had not been cleaned, and internal cutlery cupboard was greasy and dirty, also soft furnishing was very dirty."

Many thanks for your feedback, although we were concerned to read that the property was not satisfactorily presented prior to your arrival. As you will appreciate, we work very hard with our owners and housekeepers to ensure high standards of cleanliness are maintained, so it is very disappointing to read these comments. Your feedback has been passed on to the housekeeper/cleaner concerned and we will request that the windows and floors, in particular, are given a thorough clean. Please know that if you had made us aware of the issues during your holiday we would have done our best to rectify these as soon as possible. Your feedback has been passed on to the owner who will look into getting new soft furnishings for 2022. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. We do hope that you had an enjoyable holiday in spite of the issues raised and look forward to welcoming you back to Salcombe in the not too distant future. Property Owner

  • "Lovely large accommodation with breathtaking views."

The kitchen was very well equipped, the bedrooms spacious and comfortable and the lounge was wonderful to spend time relaxing and watching the world go by. A great deal of thought has gone into equipping this property to cater for wet days when more time might be spent indoors.

  • "House was very well equipped."

Photos don't do the property justice. Amazing views from lounge, master bedroom amd kitchen. Lovely little garden to have brekkie in and watch the view. Furniture in lounge needs updating. Lots of toys, books and games and dvds to keep the family busy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

  • "A really fabulous house."

The views are outstanding, with the whole Salcombe estuary from the creeks to the sea visible from the living room, kitchen dining area, front bedroom, balcony and garden. The house is really spacious and furnished with interesting, individual items. There is an impressive selection of books to delve into. The kitchen and equipment are of a very good quality, as are the bathrooms. A slight quibble would be the arm chairs and sofa in the living room, which could be more comfy.

We loved the location and the magnificent views. We did feel, however, that the upstairs bedrooms could do with an update as well as the TV. Otherwise, we had a wonderful stay and would not hesitate to come back.

  • "The views are spectacular from the comfort of the house so if weather isn’t good there is no need to leave the house."

The parking is very tight and this was with two cars. The walk is down steep hills but if you pace yourself is manageable. I would definitely recommend Edinburgh house for views, comfort and being near the main town.

  • "We adore staying at Edinburgh house ( this was our 6th stay)."

To make our next stay as perfect as possible please could you... please leave the hot water ON not OFF ( fortunately spotted ahead of bath time) and whilst it did not appear to impair function would it be too much to ask that the dishwasher has some salt and rinseaid in it? How can it not be on your checklist? When the big picture is perfect we end up noticing the small stuff. Had an excellent week and appreciated your COVID preparedness advice.

  • "A perfect property apart from the parking."

We would rent Edinburgh House regularly but cannot park a family car on the frontage, so unless we have a smaller car with us (VW Golf) we, as a couple, will not use it. There is a solution - move the steps to beside the house, infill the old ones, level and tarmac. Relatively inexpensive. It is a 3 bed family holiday let at which you cannot park a family car, I know this is common in Salcombe, however there is an opportunity here that does not exist elsewhere at a property with a fantastic view!

  • "Great view and we'll equipped holiday home."

  • "Absolutely fabulous view which is the highlight of this property."

Ground floor - which includes living room and kitchen - is well appointed as is the bathroom on the first floor. The upper floor needs attention from a maintenance point of view - somewhat disconcerting to find cracks in the ceilings and covings. The cleaners were still in the property when we arrived at 3.30pm. They apologised and we were happy to wait while they finished off. The entrance lobby was littered with dead flies - not a good first impression and perhaps overlooked in the cleaners haste to leave. Parking (on the drive) is tight and we found ourselves blocked in on occasion by a Transit van belonging to the upstairs flat. These are relatively minor points given the property's nearness to the centre of Salcombe and the superb view which one cannot put a price on. Note: the agent's directions to the property state that Edinburgh House is grey. It is in fact blue.

  • "The good features are the view is even better than it looks on the website, the location of the house is excellent, the rooms are large , the kitchen is well equipped, showers excellent."

Internet really good.Excellent amount of games and books to read. Lovely and warm and quiet. None of us wanted to go home. The minor points which would put us off going again are - needs a more thorough clean of the cobwebs around fire and bookcases, kitchen cupboard doors and utensils and microwave doors - sticky needs a good clean here. Bed in main bedroom is very narrow just about can classify it as a double bed - really needs a kingsize bed here, seating in the living room is only for 4 people - the sofa is a sofa bed so not very comfortable, the chaise is uncomfortable. Parking is tricky- a small space outside the house is for your car and the tenants upstairs - if you both have tiny cars it can be just about squeezed in, if the tenants have a van..........

  • "Great property with exceptional views, and accommodation."

2 minor observations :- 1. Downstairs bathroom inner door knob, would benefit being a handle as it is difficult to open after condensation (same comment as last year, and we had an elderly person stuck inside) 2. Blind on the end kitchen window, to provide shade on hot days.

Offering clear and uninterrupted views across the Salcombe Estuary towards Snapes Point and South Pool Creek, the apartment is arranged over two levels.

The sandy beaches of East Portlemouth and Millbay can be reached quickly and easily via the small passenger ferry that runs to/from the harbour all year round. The apartment forms part of a late 19th Century house which was converted into three apartments in recent years.

Arranged over two floors, the apartment is suited to family groups or two couples looking for a centrally located property with lovely views and off-road parking. A newly refurbished and extended kitchen is located on the ground floor with sleek fitted units and integrated appliances including an American style fridge/freezer and dishwasher.

The room extends out towards a bright and sunny breakfast area with table, four chairs and wonderful views.

A door leads out to the side of the house with access to garden and parking area.

Also found on this floor is the sitting/dining room with panoramic views.

The three bedrooms are split across the property with one ground floor double bedroom, and two bedrooms (a King-size and a twin on the first floor).

A shower room is located on the first floor and a stylish and well-equipped bathroom with rain-head shower is located on the ground floor.
