“We felt the property wasn’t as clean as we expected.”

The top floor shower drain was blocked and appeared to have several months worth of hair, soap and gunk when I lifted the drain cover. The ground floor shower door didn’t open properly so we weren’t able to use it. ...

The top floor shower drain was blocked and appeared to have several months worth of hair, soap and gunk when I lifted the drain cover. The ground floor shower door didn’t open properly so we weren’t able to use it. In the cupboard where the cups and glasses are stored there were crumbs and the dishwasher had food stuff left in it. Also several of the pillow cases didn’t have protectors in them which given the concerns re Covid was unusual. We did have a really lovely time but thought the standard wasn’t quite as good as when we first stayed at Fordlea.

The property

Fordlea is a three-storey, Edwardian townhouse in the magical seaside resort of Salcombe in Devon.

Exuding style and class, bring couples, friends and families together and use this high-quality escape as the base for your next break.

The kitchen/diner is uplifted by full-length windows allowing natural light to touch upon the units which were refitted in 2019.

Charming wooden features provide further character to this fully equipped area, while the sofa gives you a spot to chill out while dinner is on the go.

Close by, a utility offers further necessities as it leads into a glistening family shower room.

When you are not out discovering the spell-binding beauty of the area, put your feet up deservedly in the homely sitting room.

The Victorian feature fireplace brings a sense of old charm as you watch a favourite DVD after the sun goes down.

Take the stairs to discover two of Fordlea’s well-presented bedrooms.

This floor plays host to a king-size bedroom and a bunk room ideal for the children to stay in.

This level also offers a stunning family bathroom.

A further set of stairs reveals the second floor of this welcoming holiday home.

Sharing a shower room installed in 2019, the twin room rests cosily under the eaves, while the double bedroom benefits from large doors with a Juliet balcony which enjoy the view over Batson Creek.

Unwind among the glory of the sunny rear garden, where a lovely decked area offers a superb spot to enjoy a refreshing drink or some alfresco dining.

The delights of Salcombe rest a stone’s throw from the doorstep of Fordlea.

Find an assortment of charming independent shops and eateries, while a museum teaches you of the area’s maritime history.

Be sure to stroll along the picturesque harbourside, lined with pretty buildings providing the attractive backdrop.

Further afield, avid walkers can trek the idyllic South West Coast Path, displaying a multitude of breath-taking sights to admire.
