  • "Saltstone is my favourite place I’ve ever stayed in Salcombe…."

    . four times now and coming down again for Christmas!! It is beautifully presented and is spotlessly clean. It’s well equipped with everything you will ever need for your stay. Saltstone is also in a great position close to the town centre. It has two outside areas which I enjoyed on my recent visit as the sunshine was shining! I would highly recommend staying here ❤️

  • "The sofas in the living room area where terribly stained and very off putting."

    Fortunately I took my own blankets as I wasn't willing to sit on them without a blanket. Also, the cleaning staff need to check in crockery, cutlery drawers that items are appropriately clean, they were not where the cutlery was concerned.

    Thank you for your comments - we were so sorry to hear that the property was not presented to it's usual high standards. We would have of course have had a cleaner return to address the issues should you have made us aware during your stay. The sofa covers have since been professionally cleaned and the housekeeping team has been briefed to ensure that the crockery and cutlery are thoroughly checked prior to a guests arrival. We do apologise for these issues, but hope despite them that you had an enjoyable stay at Saltstone. Property Owner

  • "First time booking with Sykes and would definitely book again through them and the same property."

    The house is stunning. Beautiful decor with high quality fixtures and fittings. Perfect for a family holiday and was equipped with everything you could possibly want for a week's stay. Wondered what it would be like being over a shop but no issues whatsoever apart from the bonus of being as close as you can get to the largest shop in town for everything we needed. Did see some previous comments about the cleanliness of the property - no issues for us. Perfect condition. Location was perfect, with underground parking which is a bonus given how busy the town was. Most days we left the car parked and walked. Overall we had a fab week in the most amazing property. Wouldn't hesitate to book again.

  • "We stayed here in 2019 and again this year."

    Having been a regular visitor every year for 20yrs to Salcombe and staying in many places including all the hotels, this is our property of choice. Good location, well appointed property, secure parking and close to our mooring in Batson Creek, and of course the Crab shed. Now booked for 2022, just perfect!

  • "Cleaning let the property down."

    I’d describe the cleaning as superficial. First impressions are clean but when you settle in you notice the more hidden areas that haven’t been cleaned for sometime. Behind and under the sofas/tv area were filthy, around the door handles were dirty, the kitchen cupboards were greasy to touch in places and the cutlery draw tray was grubby. Inside the wardrobes were dusty, around and under the bathroom cabinets were hairs. The sofa covers need a good wash. With COVID lockdown having recently prohibited overnight stays for nearly 6months there was plenty of time for the property to be deep cleaned! With COVID Sykes and coast country have made changes to how you are expected to leave the property, with the COVID pandemic the least you expect in return is that it’s cleaned properly before you arrive. The location of the property and amenities within the property are however superb. North sands beach is lovely (when the tide is out and sun is shining). Local crab shed restaurant is delicious!

  • "The weeks we went we had amazing weather and the place was beautifully decorated and we would definitely book again."

    But the duvet cover was really thick so you could do with extra sheets to put in the bedrooms over the summer, also you could use a clothes line for the utilities room as with some smaller clothes that can’t go in the tumble dryer, and last sorry I know their is a bit , but a microwave would be a help just for a few things as we had to use the oven, but with the co op been under neath you can hear the delivery’s every morning .

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.

Please note: We have recently been advised of a possible residential development commencing within the vicinity of Island Place. The proposed works are due to start in Summer 2021 and are scheduled to go on for approximately 12 months. The works taking place will not visually affect your stay at Saltstone, however there may be a chance of some noise disruption.
