  • "Overall a lovely flat in a great location Some minor issues that could be addressed:- A previous review mentioned the bathroom tap cold water hardly running when full on."

    I expected that to have been fixed but it wasn't so we had to clean our teeth in the bedroom or the kitchen! The settee in the lounge is not that comfortable and if you sit on a chair they are wicker conservatory type so they so become uncomfortable quite quickly. The fitted sheet on the bed was far too small and so came off every night despite our best efforts to prevent this. This just made the bed uncomfortable to sleep in. A small coffee table in the center of the lounge would be useful. The noise outside the bedroom of an evening can be quite loud and go on well into the early hours at the weekend. The owners have put really good double glazed windows in which just about shut out all of this, which is great, unless it's warm and you like a window open when you sleep! As I said though, these are quite minor things easily rectified (apart from the noise) and did not detract from a brilliant week in Salcombe. You'll not find a better located flat with a short stay carpark right outside which is great for unloading and loading.

  • "The living area would benefit from improved lighting (there is no overhead light)."

    Also, the mixer tap in the bathroom doesn't flow when turned to cold. Apart from these small niggles, it's an ideal flat in a great central position overlooking the estuary - I've stayed there before and would do so again.

  • "We had a great holiday in Salcombe, what a fabulous place for a staycation."

    The flat was even nicer than we expected and so clean and fresh. The location was fantastic, right by the water in the heart of the resort and with the best view from the lounge window, we loved sitting there with a drink watching the boats come and go. The only negative was the noise in the mornings from the local pubs with deliveries and bottle collections, however we would still recommend and would like to go back again in the future!

  • "The apartment met all expectations - very well appointed and thoughtfully equipped."

    Sadly the service from Sykes did not. It took several attempts to call, waits of over half an hour on hold ( gave up twice) to report non working WiFi. There was no further communication from Sykes other than to advise this was a BT fault - it was eventually fixed the day we left! We appreciate this was not Sykes or the owners fault, but the difficulties of trying to communicate were very unhelpful. It cannot be hard to have sufficient staff to answer customer calls promptly.

We can only apologise that you had difficulty getting in contact with us, the call centre can get very busy. We do give out a card when you pick up the keys with our most direct number for the office on. We are also in the office Monday – Saturday should you wish to pop in. We called BT the moment the fault came through, it was just unfortunate that the BT engineer was not with you sooner.   • "The location of the apartment was fantastic."

    I think it would be helpful to point out that parking is a 10/15 minute walk away but there is a short stay car park for loading/unloading.

  • "Ghastly waiting until 5 to get in after an awful drive down."

    Completely unacceptable to have to wait for 'extra cleaning' when this had obviously not been done. We watched the cleaner for 45 mins as he was there with us until 5.45pm. Livid. Very lacklustre mopping of SOME of the floor. Kichen floor still filthy. No mopping of sitting room to speak of. You used to be brilliant as Coast & Country - since Sykes took over it's a disaster. Two years running I've had to complain re cleanliness..when are you going to get your act together?? Employ more cleaners!!!! It's not that you don't charge enough......a complete rip off now that we lose the first day of our holiday! Bedding still disgusting under the sheets - for God's sake wash the damned pillows between lets! Spent half my week cleaning- I would've thought over £700 a week could pay for a decent clean. Furious (again). Please pass this on to the owner or I will contact them direct.

    Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay at Slipways. We were disappointed to read that the property was not ready for your arrival and that you were not happy with the cleanliness after the cleaner had departed. As you will know from your many stays with us, we do ask that we are made aware of any concerns as soon as possible during your stay so we are able to rectify these points for you, as well as having a 24 hour emergency line should you need us. Unfortunately, from what I can see this is the first we have been made aware of the issues you experienced. Our check in time has temporarily been pushed back until 5:00pm to allow the cleaners extra time to focus on high traffic areas such as light switches and door knobs/handles however we are hoping to be able to amend this back as soon as we can as we understand it is disappointing to have your holiday pushed back by two hours. We have passed your comments to the owners regarding the duvets and pillows, again if we had known during your stay we would have been able to replace these for you. We hope you still managed to enjoy your stay in Salcombe. Property Owner

  • "Great little flat, fantastic location and views."

    Couple of issues the owner might look at - we couldn't get any cold water out of the tap in the bathroom sink and we found the lighting poor (it was mainly lamps). Noise didn't bother us as that's what you get when you stay in such a prime location in Salcombe!

    The apartment was clean and very well equipped with everything you could possibly want for a family beach holiday. The kitchen was also very well equipped with plenty of crockery and implements. We loved the decor with typical Salcombe type ornaments - a real 'home from home'!

Kingsbridge 7 miles; Dartmouth 21 miles; Plymouth 24 miles; Paignton 26 miles.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
