  • "A really lovely house, homely and well equipped."

The whole family me Grandma, my two daughters and two grown-up Grandchildren, had a great holiday. I could spend all day just watching the boats, toing and froing, while enjoying the sun from the wonderful top balcony. It was great to be able to walk to the shops and restaurants even if it was a climb to get back!! We enjoyed trips to South Sands and North Sands, stopping for coffee at The Winking Prawn and getting the ferry back. We hope to repeat the experience one day.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We were really pleased to read that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay here at Startline House and that it provided you with everything you required during your stay. The nearby costal walks are stunning! We very much look forward to welcoming you back soon. Coast and Country Cottages on behalf of, Property Owner

  • "The property had a lot of stairs as it was 4 stories high, we were fine but had we have taken other friends they may have found it difficult."

Maybe it’s worth a mention. 43 steps from top to bottom. You inform your clients if a property is child friendly or dog friendly so if it’s not going to be easy for people with mobility problems it could be pointed out politely. Or maybe you already do and I wasn’t aware of it.

  • "Startline House was great and gave us a welcome and relaxing week away."

Given Covid restrictions we didn't think the cleaning went deep enough. The accommodation was generally very good but the second bathroom on the lower level is in need of improvement given it is accommodating 4 people.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback, we were really pleased to learn that your stay here was enjoyable. We were only sorry to read that the cleanliness of the property was unsatisfactory upon your arrival. Please be assured that should you have contacted us, we would have arranged for the property to be re cleaned. We do hope that despite this, you had a very enjoyable stay. • "We stayed at Startline 2 years ago and really liked the balcony with its superb views."

Unfortunately this year we found the balcony to be unusable because of the seagull mess on it- it clearly hadn't been cleaned for quite some time, it was so dirty we didn't even want to stand out there to admire the view. Also the shower on the lower floor leaks from the bottom corner. It leaked when we stayed 2 years ago and we can see it's been patched up a few times, but it is still leaking. Otherwise it is a lovely house in a fantastic location.

We were so sorry to hear that the balcony was not presented satisfactorily on your arrival at Startline House. It is a shame that you did not contact the local office during your stay as we most certainly would have been able to rectify this for you during your stay. Thank you for reporting to us the leaking shower, we have passed this on to the Owners and maintenance team for their attention. Despite these issues, we hope that you enjoyed your time in Salcombe and look forward to welcoming you back to the area again soon. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful week here celebrating Christmas with 3 generations of our family."

The house was warm, comfortable and very homely, and we appreciated the fully decorated Christmas tree! We ate in almost every day, and the kitchen was really well equipped and well organised, with everything we needed to cook varied meals with enough space for lots of helpers (although we could have done with a small hand food mixer for making the Christmas cake icing!). A big dining table next to the kitchen which was perfect for our extended meals, and loads of space in the top floor lounge for 7 of us to relax and play Christmas games. Fabulous views of course from all rooms. Walkable into town for all but the oldest generation who needed a lift up the steep hill. More expensive than other properties we have stayed in but worth it as we had a lovely stay, and we are all looking forward to returning. (note to owners: the dishwasher wasn’t working very well and several items had to be re-washed. Might need a service or a clean? It was better on standard wash, the default setting to “eco” not sufficient, and this was just for cups and glasses, we didn’t use it for pans).

Thank you for taking the time to offer your feedback on your stay at Startline House. The owners have asked us to pass on the following. “It is always satisfying to know that guests appreciate the homely touches at Startline House as we endeavour to make it feel and think of it as an extension of our own family home. There is a hand held food mixer in the cupboard above the microwave together with food scales, cake tins, and a rolling pin for those Mary Berry's amongst us. Sorry you didn't find it for the Christmas cake Icing. We will check the dishwasher. Thank you for your kind comments. Hope to see you again at Startline House. Kind regards & Happy New Year.” Property Owner

Spotlessly clean and with everything you could ever need in a holiday home (including gin glasses..hooray!) Three generations all saying the same thing..."more please". We could not find fault - Our new favourite and we will be back. Thank you.

  • "Great property with magical views and petty well kitted out."

However, expensive properties should have comfortable beds and higher quality duvets. Lounge sofas also not comfortable.

  • "The house is great with fantastic views and offers everything you would require for your stay."

There is only one slight negative about this house in the sofa's are slightly uncomfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to consider this accommodation again.

  • "The house was clean, spacious and extremely well equipped."

The views are exceptional and with two sunny terraces to choose from as well as a bit of grassy garden, we were spoilt for choice when it came to relaxing. We were attending a race week at the Yacht Club so the position of the house was ideal, but also very convenient for getting anywhere in the town. Highly recommended!
