  • "The Beach house has some issues with items which need renewing."

Blinds in bedrooms old and broken which means the light gets in. ( I complained about this last year), French doors from living area and utility room door warped and don’t close. kitchen bin lid broken and doesn’t close. We also had issues with poor maintenance, no lights on stairs and oven left in a disgusting state.

  • "Not value for money!"

Disappointed. Views are this properties selling point!!! View from bedroom amazing! Outside patio area views not as good but lovely. Both bathrooms good except sink upstairs slow to drain. Property had lots of issues: Microwave not working Patio door to outside terrace unable to open without applying brute force! Televisions not tuned in Wash room could not shut door, heat from boiler in that room..made the kitchen and downstairs tiolet unbearabley hot. Bin in kitchen would not shut easily, shut function issue. Hedge by patio full off blue bottle flies Wooden plank loose on patio area Decking lights 50% did not work on patio Blinds on downstairs living room and main bedroom did not function Kitchen floor tiles lifting in places Property needs a good make over, especially blinds brought up to standard so they actally function as they should. This would enable the views from the property to be enjoyed to their best potential. Then the rental price would be on point, currently it is not value for money.

  • "Generally the cleanliness of the property, there were long hair in the carpets, blocked sinks in ensuite washing bowls, bad smell in utility room when door closed, sticky kitchen floor etc."

Property looks a bit tired in general, e.g. blinds (was mentioned in existing review). Washing machine produces an astonishing 90dB (we actually measured it) when wringing. Leaking roof, when it rained the master bedroom wall and carpet got wet. Broken outdoor lamp on balcony of apartment above constantly banged the wall in wind and woke us up. Stunning view but inly only from upper floor (to be fair, that was listed). Nevertheless, we were pleased with the standard of the kitchen, but all in all we do not consider this experience worth the money we paid.

Many thanks for leaving us your feedback. We were really sorry to read that the cleanliness of the property upon your arrival was unsatisfactory. We have passed on your comments to the housekeeping team who would like to apologise. Thank you for your comments concerning the maintenance of the property, we have passed these on to the owners. Despite these issues we do hope that you enjoyed your visit to Salcombe and look forward to welcoming you back in the not so distant future. Property Owner

  • "Very well appointed apartmentment, only marred by building works on the block below the road on the other side."

However we were warned in advance and a discount offered, so no complaints

  • "This is an apartment which is extremely well apportioned with a fantastic view."

It is perhaps looking slightly more tired than it did last year when the décor and appliances all felt completely new.

  • "Very nice house, great location for the town centre and the beach at north sands."

Our children were old enough (2.5 and 4) to navigate the 40 odd steps leading up to the house, but wouldn't want to take any younger children for that reason. Amazing view when you get to the top of the steps!! great view from 2 out of 3 bedrooms and the patio. Only complaint would be the window treatments, they are slatted metal blinds which don't shut out any light whatsover, you may as well not bother and they look hideous, this was not ideal for children. And when the blinds were pulled up, the cord was so incredibly long and nothing to secure it with ie a cleat, and it was a hazard for small children. Other than that it was lovely!

  • "Very nicely furnished, well equipped and comfortable duplex."

It would not however be big enough for 6 people as advertised. 4 would be OK. Not suitable for anyone who couldn't manage stairs as it is quite a climb to get in/out of the property. From the photos of the property, we had expected it to be right on the front looking onto the estuary. There is actually another property in front of it which rather blocks the view from the ground floor. Good view fom the bedroom (master) balcony.

  • "The pictures didn't actually do this property full justice."

It was immaculate, in an ideal location and had everything we could possibly need for a relaxing break. We've already made a tentative booking for next year.

  • "Because this property is listed as 5 star and again this year there are similar issues to 2013 and new ones including the above, how can the star rating be justified?"

  • "The apartment is getting tired, the lounge particularly but the location is excellent"

  • "This rating is given on the basis that the property is supposed to be in their top range and last year when we rented it, there were several issues and it looked a bit tatty."

For example - the seat covers on the sofa and chairs we grubby and this was early in the season.
