    “The Courthouse is a fantastic property / a superb layout.”


    Unfortunately the cleanliness of it let it down- for the price we paid one should expect a clean well presented property. On arrival we reported our disappointment in the state of the outside area which was filthy. It had weeds and birds mess everywhere - so bad we couldn’t have sat outside. The young man who came to check the property apologised and said he get someone round to attend. On the Tuesday we went out for the day and returned to find no one had been. I emailed and called the number for the salcombe office who dealt with it the same day. We returned to find a nice clean outside area. We also reported the shower was broken - this was dealt with also. The response to our complaint was dealt with which was good but we shouldn’t have had to report something so obvious. The external cleanliness should be part of the preparation for any new guest staying. The general cleanliness was poor with dusty skirting boards and a huge cobweb in the main bathroom. We didn’t allow this to spoil our stay as the accommodation was great - but it was disappointing.

There is also a further shower room on the first floor with basin and W.C. Outside, you’re treated to a sensational terrace extending out from the kitchen, complete with table and chairs.

Within walking distance of Salcombe, where you’ll be met with cafés, pubs, shops and sandy beaches such as South Sands which is located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking, including the South West Coast path.
